Overall, it's obviously better. But, the problem is the zombies are to smart to be zombies. Like if they breakthrough rows of spikes on horde night and create a pathway that's the only path they will follow for the rest of the night. Following the path of least resistance is not something a zombie should be doing.
Well I think that sound about right, why would you walk into a spike when a clear path exists? Have you played 17.2? I mean perhaps we can mix it up so there are a few dummies that still walk into a spike, but generally thats not how zombies in movies act. They will only self impale when they can't reach you via a normal path.

If they could bump each other around a little more, you could strategically create situations to utilize the spikes a little more.

I don't want to contribute to any more negativity, but these posts that dismiss complaints from veterans with 2000+ hours are insane. The argument that players with 2000+ hrs are going to have less enjoyment is completely valid. However, you cannot use that as a basis to dismiss someone's opinion. Where exactly is the cutoff point before you are silenced? Is it 1000 hrs? 500? 100? How many hours can I play before I have to worry about if I'm starting to enter the threshold of "don't matter anymore".

Please hear me anybody with an opinion... never speak of how much you have played the game. You may think that it gives you stronger influence, but it is the opposite. Keep this information to yourself if you want a voice at all. Unbelievable. Can we listen to thoughts others have without dodging issues by pointing out some statistic of objective relevancy?
Anyone who makes sense makes sense. Produce compelling data and you are heard. Still it has to work with our plans and in context of all the upcoming changes and often you guys are playing with half a deck of cards because all the new stuff isn't available. But yeah there is no cutoff point. Its really like ok is this guy married to stuff because he's unwilling to change or was that design actually better? We're bringing back points that were better and massaging designs to be better received.

But sometimes it just feels like a losing battle, like sorry man, the last update for Fallout didn't do anything for me, because I was already totally bored with the main fallout. A new place to explore and some nuka cola gear isn't exciting me. At all. So sometimes its just burnout and not the devs fault. Sometimes we're wrong. We are always trying to make it as best as it can be.

But why? Think about it like this. They love your game so much they don't want it to get hurt. Like an over protective mom who says, "bundle up!, slow down!, eat this!, don't hang around little timmy, don't do drugs! Your majoring in philosophy? What kind of job outlook does that have? You should date Sally, she's a nice girl".
Ok too many examples, but you get it.
That ♥♥♥♥ annoyed me when I was a teen. Dad, I got this. 10 years later I'm starting a biz. Dad, I know what I'm doing. We got you all addicted with 3 guys in a basement. Now we have 30, an office and resources beyond imagination. Dudes, we got this.

Hi MMstill here, waiting patiently, checking in at least daily to catch up, really looking forward to the next instalment/s.

any chance of a video showcasing some of the improvements? perhaps that will appease some of the nay-sayers...

im also getting a bit sick of the bi polar "the game sucks but I love it" crowd.
They don't hate the game, they hate change. Anyhow I'm all caught up, you jerks ate my lunch, dinner and part of my evening game time. LOL tomorrow morning there will be 12 pages of posts. Trying to read every post, reply to most but its starting to maybe delay A18 lol. Just kidding but yeah I might need to respond only with quips so I can get stuff done :)

We have 2000+ hours because the game was a new game we enjoyed after each new alpha. 17 is a setback, but you guys seem to have that in hand so let's do 18. Frack 17.3.

I understand. It's been rough.

There has been a lot I haven't liked about A17. I've expressed it too. Obviously others have been as well. For me, I honestly believe that from what I heard that has been worked on recently, I will be swayed in a positive direction. I think many others will too. Posts will reflect that, mine certainly will, and there will be a more positive atmosphere again.

Yeah, I know what you said, lol. They were good points. Not sure why some people will not allow TFP to present their own definitions of what a zombie can and cannot do.

ideally, the zombies would be a 50/50 mix of following the path of least resistance and dummies who walk through the spikes.

Its a gritty post apocalypse, not minecraft. We will add ability to ruin it with mod support. See I can be catty and disrespectful too. Its a two way street.
Anyhow it was more about making a nice set of themed textures that looked good in the ways that we use them. All those old concretes were simple placeholders I put in until we could finish them, and some may be a WIP. We can probably make some more not so crusty textures for players to use, and will probably make it easier to add more new textures.
I totally get this sentiment, but at the same time it is nice to have a few cleaner looking textures for our bases. I mean the pois are rotting away from neglect, but our bases are new.

The only texture i do miss are the cleaner wood windows. Maybe there could be a new and old version of some textures and a recipe for cleaning fluid? :D

Madmole has said that one way or another you are certain to get cleaner newer looking textures. Everyone pushing for this can be at peace. It's a win. :)

I'm sorry I took this the wrong way. And I'm sorry that the post may have (I say may have 'cause Roland thinks you might be joking) been seen as catty. I was trying for humorous (although I stand by SOME of the textures being butt ugly :tickled_pink: but definitely not all) ... and I really shouldn't try to be funny because I'm really not.

Thank you for agreeing their will be more/different textures in the future, especially if you make it so we can add our own. (When I say "we" I mean someone with talent, not me.) That will be amazing.

Note: Thank you Roland. Maybe you can snip out my little panty twisted quote from yours as well?

@madmole

I hope you keep posting. I love seeing the opposing sides of the various debates. I don't understand the doom and gloom, though. I think so long as TFP puts in the right hooks for modders to go wild, everyone wins. TFP can make their base game, modders can extend it. I'll play both.
