You don't have to, if you notice gravel is easily destroyed by a pick now for that very reason.
Great news! Looking forward to experiancing all the A18 goodness myself soon, I hope :)

(I have the flickering white hex terrain thingy due to old 1GB Radeon GPU. Keeping fingers crossed that there's a possible fix for it, if not no 7dtd for me until the holiday/black-friday sales.)

I can see myself using Taza axe late game when I have enough wood and rocks to replace the other tools. But as an upgrade tool it's too slow, any chance the Q6 version can upgrade blocks at the level of a claw hammer? It would be a good late game tool to loot for.

Madmole,

After having put in the hours, I have to say something feels "off" in regards to Melee. I'm not the only one who feels this way either. Here is the thread so me and others don't clog up the Dev Diary: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?130294-What-is-wrong-with-melee

There is some commonality with what others are saying. My suspicion is that it has something to do with the ray casts and glancing blows, but I'm not a developer so my opinion is lacking. Check it out if you have the time.

Loving A18 so far! Had some problems with more stored loot despawning but I'm guessing it's a modlet or nitrogen thing since I haven't seen anyone else reporting this

Agree, but let me say...this peace of coal is getting really hot and compressed right now...I know A17 wasn't so good but it was the definitive turning point to this game...from now on, it's on the right tracks.
I like the way you talk about geological processes!

Your base is massive.
Thanks!

That's what a quarter-pounder twice a day will do to you!

@Madmole thanks for the video, it confirmed my impression.

When you say 435 squat for reps, I didn't assume you meant 90 degree half-squats on a machine; I figured you meant full range barbell squats (aka squats).

The two are incomparable, and with the latter I thought "that's extremely unlikely" but the former is very easy to believe.

Full range of motion is *critical* for both strength and size, and it's especially important for long term joint health. Pro bodybuilders generally devote a large majority of their work to full ROM lifts with partials strategically employed here and there.

Here's a vid of what I mean if it helps: Jeff is a bodybuilder and these deep barbell squats are indicitive of very impressive strength and it's no coincidence his legs are very, VERY thick. Starts just after 2 min;

Yes but I forgot the table saw. I'll add it, if there is a destroyed version.
If there isn't, then it is time to add that too. And Can we have Table saw at Traders like other 4 (wb, cm, chem station and forge), maybe randomize to we find only 3/4 out of 5 machines.

And while you at it, please make that at least one of machine is workable, if all are workable good, but at least one should be. What is the use of having so low trader in map and yet their gadget are not working. Maybe they reset, randomly as well.

how about something that let's us get other random ores while mining ores? kinda how that one mining book let's us find random gems when mining ore well this book would get us a random ore while mining ore.

I think that would be a good replacement for the ore bundle book.

And ever evolving. ;) I'm planning on mining another 400,000 stone within the next two weeks to continue its expansion. I'm continuing to cut down all the trees in the area to fuel the forges as well. I'll be spending the next three days doing nothing but mining iron. Back to work!
Who are you, Saruman?

Finally, a person of culture has come my way! Most confuse him for Gandalf. :p
Yeah isn't he the one who dies by being thrown of the highest tower in Hogwarts??

The ingame mining journal knows. =)
Thanks the tip man, I'll read it once I get home from the office :)

Does anyone know which minerals spawn in which biome?
So far I've seen;

Desert - oil shale and lead

Forest - lead and iron

I'm assuming coal spawns in the burned forest and potassium nitrate in the snow. Or do they occure somewhere else as well?

Thanks!
Well, I am at forest in my game, and I am surrounded by Iron, Coal and nitrate all at 10 m block away in 3 directions. I found lead too in forest, .. so I think probablity is for any, but just it increase on biomes ..

If you want to put in just enough fuel to smelt the Iron then; 420 x 5 sec = 2,100 sec ; 2,100 sec / 50 sec = 42
You may notice there's an easy ratio there; 10 to 1. One Wood burns for 10 times the 5 seconds it takes to smelt a single piece of Iron.

So just divide the number of items you want to smelt, if they take 5 secs to smelt, by 10 to find out how much Wood to use.
The only problem is that US citizens can not work with that because it means moving the decimal point left or right and that way lies the metric system, an unknown place of danger and madness.

If 10 raw iron took 1.773 wood to smelt that would probably be easier. =P

Perhaps a repair kit shouldn't be a stackable item, but instead a single item toolbox that you complete with components similar to a bike or vehicle.
The components included could dictate the toolbox's capabilities and it could function to varying degree's based on its contents, ie: on its own, the toolbox is like a bike frame and act's as nothing but a container. Add a wrench to it and it can can repair vehicles, add oil and/or a brush to it, and it could then also repair weapons, a soldering iron and its functionality could expand further to then repair electrical items as well etc...

It'd give a little more personality to the repair function, and its not too far off how a real toolbox works in a rather simplistic kind of way.
Making it into a workstation could work yeah, but would also be much more work to pull off for them. A few xml changes and addition vs code changes and making a workstation (though they have a toolbox model they could use).

Yeah plus I need to read the news to them.. Since they can't read themselves.
