100? Are you role playing a farmer?
My little rooftop garden is overkill with no perks. I don't buy living off the land. I cook whatever recipes I find. I was on boiled meat until level 40 with this character and I finally found a recipe for meat stew.
He is role playing a know it all :)

Gazz & Madmole, it is really not just a farming issue. It happens anytime you place a block flush with the ground. Now I agree it is not a must fix bug for 18 or even 19 for that matter, but I do not think it is appropriate either for the developers to react the way you have. It should be as simple as adding a function call when placing a block to check the adjacent tiles and adjust density where necessary. Aesthetically this should be fixed prior to shipping. Perhaps everyone is overworked this close to dropping 18 which is understandable, but please believe we all just want to help improve the game and not harass you.
One tiniest of change to density can hose 1000's of hours of man sculpted terrain work, so we're not looking at it right now. It would be very easy to restore a hoeless version of farming voxels, just make dirt upgrade to farm class soil terrain block with nitrate and rotten flesh in your inventory. Then players could have 17 farming back, but we're in content lock so it can wait until after the ♥♥♥♥storm.

A 4x4 square of each type of plant. Enough to never have to worry about food or meds ever again.

Rooftop gardens feel too cheesy. There's limited space above my keep, 12 blocks, 11 including a ladder.

I’m tired of all these rock jokes. One more rock reference and my temper will burst. Let me ask a you a serious question. Who is your favorite fictional boxer portrayed by Silvester Stallone?
Clearly he has a problem.

As the author of minibikes for dumb♥♥♥♥s and forge ahead, I will tell you that I like it. If you hated those kinds of things then you might not like A18. It feels like Fallout now in the way that there is a million cool things to find, and like diablo in that you might find a version of the same item that has better stats, or one better, one worse so there is a choice to make.
To me, this combined with the slower leveling and ungated attributes has taken the game from a 25 hour game to a hundred+ hour game with just one build. IF I can just sit back and craft the best guns/armor where is my incentive to loot? I don't have it. So once you get so far, it turns into building a big base you don't need.

If you call looting grinding, then this might not be your cup of tea. I find it extremely enjoying and so does the team.
SOOOO many books so little time

the art of mining one sounds really cool

Why go to all that work just to bend over? The farm boxes 1 meter high are perfect height to harvest and easier to hit, especially for like mushrooms that have a tiny hit box.
Personally I'll porobably end up still buring them in the dirt and "trying" to make it like it used to be. I'm not a fan of the idea of this new box methods. Then again, this new way of farming might actually be better so i'm open. We shall see how farming has changed come release. :)

Hmm, so is there a bunch fixed on branches and just need to be merged into a build or have they not had any work done on them?
Trying to gauge if I take the 7th off.
Yes you should take the 7th off, the BIG question you need to ask is WHICH month you should take the 7th off. At this point you should also ask which YEAR to take it off.

I barely can hold the hype right now.... A18 is all I think about, in the meantime, I'll be playing DayZ with my squad.
