I am a 7 days to die veteran myself, playing since Alpha 1, so I can say...YEA, performance is not in the vocabulary of this game. They always try to add more content, but in terms of performance and optimization the game is not worked at all.
I am able to play A16.4 without lag or too much stuttering, but in A17 it's totally unplayable even with the LOWEST SETTINGS POSSIBLE...and A17 was praised by TFP to be better in terms of performance than previous alpha versions, YET it runs WORSE(and my pc is not a potato, as I said, I can run A16.4 and any other version just fine). Where's the logic? I wish they could just find what causes the memory leaks and optimize the game.

Nobody can say that this game has the best graphics so in terms of performance it shouldn't run so badly, yet the stuttering kills all the gameplay. I'm sure we're not the only ones that complain about this.
So guys, what am I doing wrong???

I have a pretty outdated platform with an I5-3570k @ 4.2GHz with 16GB Ram and a RX480 graphic card. Running on Win 10 64bit @Full HD.

This rig is nearly 7 years old, except for the graphic card of course.

I am able to play with an average 60 fps. Sometimes they drop down to 30fps. Looking at pure sky gives me 170fps+. Both dedicated server or local game. Even horde night is no problem. For hours...and never unplayable.

So before starting to moan about the bad game performance, get your rig fixed!

You should start your taskmanager and try to find your bottleneck.

And: You should post the specs of your system, because noone here is an oracle. So helping you is quite....difficult

Bug Description:

Getting NullReferenceException spam (to the point of having to Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task to quit game)

Seems to happen when a Blade Trap continuously hits a dead Zombie Dog (or perhaps any harvestable corpse?).

Reproduce steps:

Make a trap environment that allows for the continuous hitting of a low-lying corpse by the Blade Trap, trigger Bloodmood (w/ Dogs)... Wait for it..

I was able to reproduce and capture on stream (see below YouTube link).

So far, with the setup in the video (reconstructed twice), the Exception has been thrown at every Bloodmoon when one of the dogs die (tested 7 times).

Press F1 to open the console, then type dbs

This will open a panel in game for you to type the bug in.

once done click ok

there will then be a SCREENSHOTS folder in the main 7 days folder.

Expected result: No NullReferenceException (null-check your variables!) :p

Re: The file was huge, but the last ~20000 lines were just repeating, so I clipped the repeating sections (retaining final shutdown info)

Bug Description:

When u start driving it pucks up speed for lil while and then stop (what is kinda slow actualy) but sound keeps going untill it sounds like ur killing the engine. Its very annoying and not realistic.

Player starts to freez when its +15c and over heat at +25c. This is not accurate, as someone whe lives in north of sweden i might add that freezing starts below 0c and uncompfortable heat at +30c.

About visibility, I noticed if im in a house, crouched and with mining helmet light on it shows 89 to 100, noticed the same when i was mining deep underground. Does not feel like it should be like that, visibility should be way less then that if ur in a safe place.

i should have said before this is off my Serverlog not personal game

just look at any of your test servers and search for "INF Missing paint ID" there are quite a few

 




 
I've an ongoing ticket with my server host about this. They are trying everything in the book as am I. Currently about 30% of our entire playerbase is unable to properly connect to or even see our server. I have two computers. One runs fine with 16gb of ram. The other at 8gb was playing the entire experimental phase just fine on Navezgane. But then when we wiped one of our servers for Size 2 random gen our playerbase began to encounter these issues.
I honestly have not seen this issue in other servers up until reading this forum post and our playerbase is insisting that it is only our server due to them trying other servers.

I've found some MINOR success with the problem PC I have access to using GL Core Renderer from the launch menu options. That works..... When it wants to. Most of the time it doesn't even let me fully load the client before crashing.

I have all sorts of crash details. Please acknowledge the fact that this is a MAJOR issue for what now appears to be MULTIPLE servers. I've been going borderline insane trying to troubleshoot this thinking it was only us having the issue.

Logs can be provided if requested and if this bug is actually acknowledged. Please notice our plight senpai!

 


I truthfully felt the need to add this information since currently this is a drastic horrible gamestopping bug if it is indeed something on your guy's end. Which it's seeming like it is

I know they have plans to do a lot of work on RWG. I rather strongly suspect the initial design causes certain map information to be stored in memory for the entire map. A (simplistic) fix is to simply load only the map information needed at the time instead of loading the entire map. Give them time, they will fix RWG and I expect it will be amazing. Right now it's rather badly broken.

Even an 8K map will cause clients with 8GB ram to have problems, especially if they are running Windows. I'm going to profile memory usage vs different map sizes to see what I come up with but I suspect memory usage is map_size ^ 2 more-or-less.

I had the exact same problem, but a server restart fixed it. Does the problem persist after restarting the server?

I have a 4790k, 980 GTX, 16 gigs RAM, running off an SSD at 1080p, and I have to play the game at mostly low settings (set to low then increase textures since they don't make much difference, etc). I wouldn't call it unplayable on higher settings, but it is unpleasant. Very jerky and stiff feeling. On these lower settings, I can maintain 60FPS at least most of the time (pretty important with V-sync on), but just about.

i restarted the server, then i could loot the first bird nest i say, everything else after that had no loot again.

For what it's worth, this is listed in the Known Issues for b240:

  • Crafting speed bonus and mod slots do not properly apply to workstations after being closed

When refilling the auger, it does its refill animation but doesn't play the "glug, glug, glug" sound. (It also looks like it needs the same texture upgrade everything else got... it looks outdated compared to everything else.)

Guns reload but don't play the reload animation... they just stop firing until they are loaded again , and can then be fired again. (This was observed on all guns we have come across.)

The ground trash that yields glass makes the paper destruction sound, not the breaking window sound.

Bicycles still don't have the L3 controller run toggle. (Madmole said he thought that was implemented a few days before the most recent build. None of the vehicles have the boost toggle using controllers. The Gyro also does not have the tilt down controller bound, but Fataal completed that while they were compiling this current build so it was not included in it.)

Also an observation.. when overburdened, the walk speed is kind of choppy.. instead of the entire speed being consistently slow, its like its only slowed down every other second making the display almost feel like its stuttering.

There is also something weird going on with inventory.. on occasion, something in the toolbelt becomes unselectable. You can't move it, repair it, or drop it...and after a few minutes it becomes unstuck again. (We've seen this in both sp and mp.)

In addition, some fetch quest bundles fail the quest and cannot be turned in.. and then also cannot be dropped from inventory, perpetually taking up a inv slot.

Lastly, I also observed a mining helmet that wouldn't turn on when worn. Exiting the game completely, and restarting it however fixed it.

Bug Description: I've had all vehicles disappear on me. It's always after I log back in to the game. It seems random. Sometimes I log in and my vehicle is still there. I've tried only ever owning 1 vehicle and I get the same results. This happens to me and my 2 other friends that play on the MP server.

Reproduce steps: its random if my vehicle will still be there or gone.

Not sure what this log means - I had the vehicle with this log. The next log does not show any vehicle in it.

Placed sleeping bag on small roof top, never left roof top, turned around and sleeper sleeping on my sleeping bag. Come on now...
When I killed him the lower half of his body then fell through the concrete, while the upper half remained upright.

Jesus, I wrote this and then turned around and yet another sleeper behind me.
I'm pretty sure it was stated the sleeping bag doesn't prevent sleepers from spawning, it prevents the spawners from recharging. You have to clear the place fully before the sleeping bag does anything. Otherwise you could just drop a sleeping bag at every POI before going through it.

however... may be by design as the shelf supports used, are window frames but look good for the purpose the designers chose (they do get creative with what they have).. we shall see. POI- "business_old_04"
