PC All hope in the devs is gone - they should turn everything over to modders

The update 2.0 has been poorly received and only serves to make the game more linear and boring that ever. Everyone will be using the same build and very similar horde bases on higher difficuties. Build intelligence to max crafting skills then respec into a tanky build is what will happen every playthrough. No need to go to high level POI's when you can just craft the highest tier armors and weapons. The only reason to go to high level POIs is for a challenge, be even then, it will be a boring slugfest of ultra tanky players vs ultra tanky zombies.

If the devs can't IMMEDIATELY, at this second, commit to making the game more of sandbox experience with more replayability (actually fun), they should just quit. If the devs are reading this, you should reply with a picture of a written letter affirming your commitment that has all your signatures at the bottom. I personally don't think they will ever listen to the community again. That being said, they should make another kickstarter so they can cash out and hand the game development over to modders before they totally run the game into the ground. 7D2D is like No Man's Sky, but in reverse.

Where's a good place to get in touch with modders? I have a lot of ideas of how to make the game better.

A little strong I think. The dev's have a difficult job to do balancing the needs and expectation of a wide circle of players. While I too am opposed to a linear game and enjoy a sandbox environment, it feels a tad distasteful to be so hostile to attempts to develop the game.

They are openly friendly to mods and customisation to cater for a broad church and have their own vision for where they want the game to be.

Do I agree with all their decisions... no. I certainly do not want to live in a cookie cutter game that is restrictive and dictates where you go, but considering all the work they have put into the project I think its harsh to dismiss them out of hand.

Poorly recieved? Definitely not. You raid high level pous for tge loot and challenge. (In before claims of insane difficulty, playing with a banana for a controller)

Why do people always act like the game is supposed to be pure sandbox? I has never been advertised as such. Currently it is closer to the advertised playstyle than ever before.

Just a refresher from the store page for those like the OP who are unaware.
7 Days to Die is an open-world game that is a unique combination of first-person shooter, survival horror, tower defense, and role-playing games. Play the definitive zombie survival sandbox RPG that came first. Navezgane awaits!

So how many genres is that besides "sandbox"?
  1. First-person shooter
  2. Survival horror
  3. Tower defense
  4. Role-playing
And if the game didn't have more replay-ability, I wouldn't be well over 7000 hours in it now. (Actual game hours, not sitting idle on a server so your PvP server doesn't look dead.)

Actually playing this time is the first in years that it feels like the base set up of an RPG.

I think that is the disconnect, between like and dislike of this version. For so long it has
been accepted as a game to meta max, and become Super"fill in the pronoun of choice"
as quickly as possible. Nothing wrong with that, it's a play style of choice.

But taking time and playing just to play, it is easier to see the directional flow, otherwise
i can see how it would feel like one wall after another. For me it's just progression, like
any other Semi open world RPG FPS I've played. Shadow of the Erd Tree comes to mind.

I've played bad, poorly designed games before. Ever played ET by Atari? This is NOT one of them. Don't agree with every design decision but come on, what other game can you compare to what they've created? Still having Hella fun despite my disagreements.

My only issue Is rather then listen to the community that wants a survival game they are going more and more into rpg and removing sand box elements. Or even just small things for modders to add later

  • Meat smell
  • None liner leveling
  • LBD
  • LBL
  • farming land (granted that had a reason kinda)
  • Traders bring non Essential.
  • Biome Loot stage bonus (recent)
  • Weapon acembled
  • Temperature
  • Etc

the devs solution is "let modders do it" unlike some groups that hire modders they don't really do that and that's fine maybe TFP want a small team but at times it feels like they don't even play there own game or know why people play it.

well it looks like you are ready to stop playing this game and start learning how to make your own.

here you go;

to think had they solely concentrated on fixing bugs rather than releasing features that are causing significant disruption, how beneficial that could have been for morale and the community, but more importantly sylanthunder wouldn't have to be reading all the negative reviews.
It is time for the community to receive a comprehensive update focused exclusively on fixing bugs and exploits related to 7d2d.
Forget about 3.0 bandits; we demand nothing but fixes next update!

This may be the craziest thing I've ever read. V 2.0 isn't even out yet for alot of us and that means it hasn't been received at all. Wtf are you to ask anybody for a hand written letter with ALL the signatures by the Dev's anyways:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. If you don't like the game don't play it, if you don't like the direction of the game.... don't play it. You shouldn't need any modders help cause you should start modding so you can make this game exactly what you want it and stop acting like you speak for all the community. I would also like to let you know that probably all these great idea's you have either will not work for the game, be poorly received by alot of people and then you get to hear us asking for you to stop IMMEDIATELY and go write a letter:unsure:

Lol. These flame posts are pretty ridiculous. You have to be pretty conceited to think everything revolves around you and that everything should be made how you want it, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

The fact that this game gets far more play time on average from players than just about any other game besides MMOs is a clear indication that people like the game AND that there is a lot more replayability than most other games. Does everyone like every change? Of course not. That is true for every game ever made. News Flash! People have different opinions about what is good in a game. You can't ever please everyone, and games that have tried ended up being bad for everyone.

The devs have made it very easy to mod this game so that players CAN play it how they want. They did that to help make more players happy, even if they don't like something in the game. So complaining like this is pretty dumb.

This game is not a true sandbox game. That isn't going to change. If you want to play it as a sandbox, turn on god mode and the creative menu. Guess what? Sandbox. So you have that option. But the game is many different genres. It is not just sandbox. Don't like that? Play a different game or mod it.

Also, you seem to think you know what everyone else thinks. So you actually believe that people think just like you? That is pretty sad. People play all kinds of different builds and ways. Some might surf into intelligence, but many do not. Some may respec, but many (probably most) do not. Some may build a base they copied from some stranger because it is really good against the zombie AI. Most don't ever even watch such things and build bases however they want. So get over yourself. Make a mod or make your own game. If you don't have the skills to do so, then download mods or play something else.

They fix a lot of bugs every update. Just not the ones you want. 😀

Sounds like a good poll question.

What would you like to see the 3.0 update consist of?

A) Exclusively bug fixes, exploit removal, and optimizations. None of the new content listed for 3.0

B) Exclusively the new content listed for 3.0. No bug fixes, exploit removal, and optimizations.

C) All the content listed for 3.0 and a continuation of bug fixes and optimizations.

You bring your millions of PvP players to overwhelm the poll and show us the true nature of the will of the player base. Can these new forums do polls?

Flame posts do not help offer constructive criticism to the developers, for better or worse, it makes anything you have to say regarded as baseless complaints. There are many, MANY, problems with the implementation of features like biome survival and the hazards therein, the storms themselves, and the removal of the weather system. The biggest way these issues can be addressed is by presenting our viewpoints in a calm and rational manner.

Why do people always act like the game is supposed to be pure sandbox? I has never been advertised as such. Currently it is closer to the advertised playstyle than ever before.
Probably because when many of us fell in love with the game, it was pretty much a pure sandbox. Sure, it may not have been advertised as such, but that's what it was and a ■■■■ good one.

I was going to say A, because I really have no interest in bandits, but I would like the UI overhaul (though mods can fix it...though I'm concerned the new UI will need to be modded anyway. I need to see more numbers (particularly food and water.))

I been enjoying V2.0 so far. Even died in a storm in the burnt forest because I over estimated my ability to construct a shelter over my mine instead of going to a nearby POI for shelter
