PC A19: Worst....crack-a-book....ever

Was delighted to find a fairly large Crack-a-book in the town I setup beside in A19. This one was a new library-like POI that's pretty big and has the new expendable book piles to loot. I looted it day 5 and came away with....

2 skill books

500 paper

wth??? Is the A19 loot nerf hitting this as well? Had it been a Shotgun Messiah would I have come away with a level 2 Blunderbus or a Wooden Bow?

Seriously. NO FUN ALLOWED. This needs fixed.

Books are afaik not affected by the loot nerf, just weapons and tools.

So in this case: Just bad luck, like it had ever been in 7d2d.

Yes, on day 5 with low gamestage you would have, because that are weapons.

That comment is for the paper that drops in the bookshelfs. I don't know if the books themselfs have changed with the recent patches, but with B163 i got a book in almost every second bookshelf. Also afaik the droprate of books is still not affected by the stone-age mechanic. You can find every book from day 1. They are completely random.

 
The new book shelves simply suck. The standard one story crack a book, with tons of book piles and around 30 shelves: 2 books, one recipe with lucky looter on 1. Tried it again with LL at 3 in the next city. Got 3 books and 2 recipes. Don´t touch them since then in my SP besides the main loot, rather go for POI`s with the old shelves. TFP again went from one extreme into the opposite extreme. Someone thell them there is something called a middle ground...

RNG.   We got a boatload of books out of that last night, and 3 boatloads of paper.

Speaking of which, if you want stupid amounts of paper, clear the Crak-A-Book tower.

All those paper rolls are now actual paper rolls.  Waaaaayyy more than in the papermill.

btw, I've had the only 1 book ,or no books in the crackabook in the stripmall version.

 
I tried and started several new games. i did like 10 crack a books with LL at 2. Always the same. Hardly any books or recipes. It´s not only me, everyone from my MP has the same in his SP also. There is something off.

Ehh, those paper rolls were so frustrating. Good to hear. One spot more in the backpack when looting other buildings 😛

 
I think there are two blocks: The old generic bookstore box and the new shelfs with some books in it.

The old box probably has 50% chance to find books, I even found two in the same box on several occasions. The new shelfs have a rather low chance. I think they did it to stuff bookstores and bookstore tower with them and not make these buildings OP. This was my experience in week 4, so it isn't just the gamestage, shelfs always seem to have a lower chance

Sure, realism-wise you would expect to find tons of books in a bookstore tower. But for balance it shouldn't be like in a few previous alphas where bookstores were number one targets with number two following far far behind.

 
On the other hand, the crack-a-book tower and the paper mill are completely amazing. On one step above default difficulty I've been getting 100 paper from each paper roll with ratchet or impact driver as well as around 600xp. Which with that in mind probably needs a nerf of some kind. Getting either poi for a quest and resetting it to gain more paper rolls nets more xp than I'd ever imagined.

 
Ok that makes sense now. So the best way to get books now is to buy them? good to know. I got 500 paper from the new crack a book, it was a little disappointing. On the flip side now, paper is no longer difficult to find, so we are now in the era of cheap shotgun ammo.

Yeah, I got a similar result. It has to be the loot nerfing thing, cause I was only like gs 11 or something when I hit it. Bookshelf after bookshelf of nothing but paper.
