PC A17 Bloodmoon

Is it me or is the bloodmoon horde less intense in a17? By this I mean they seem slower and the horde seems to end quicker. I am only at day 62 now but I remember the fast charging cops going crazy on my base but now they all seem to walk normally.

I also found that. There doesn't seem to be much of a horde now at all. I would say that the number of zombies in general has decreased a lot since I started in A15. I would rather have less animals and more zombies to be honest. ♥♥♥♥ vultures in particular. :D

I think the vultures are pretty cool. I love how they don't attack you until you're injured. I think it would be better to restrict them to certain biomes though. Feels weird seeing vultures in the snow for example. I could seriously do away with rabbits, pigs and wolves though. We need one sort of animal like the deer for a food source.

I agree not enough zombies all round though.

To the OP, I agree. The horde seems to come a few zombies at a time, and then you have to wait for the next batch to come along. Not terribly nail bighting. Back in A13, the hordes were so scary, afterwards, we were rocking back and forth in the foetal position. lol

On the server and in SP i have it set to 24 and yes they're... lacking in something. In SP what I do is log out and then back in for another run; or as I like to do go for 4! Albeit I've never completed a full 4th horde :(

Many zeds to seem slower, possibly because of the new speed options for them... As well as for the masses of them that used to come - I think its been toned down some since the re-write, actually a lot has been toned down. As for the vultures - I don't count on them not attacking you because of some fabled myth about your health - I always get them attacking me so I've gone on the offensive and take out any I see!

You can tweak your settings quite a bit to give you just what kind of horde night you want. I have mine throttled so that they trickle in just about all night long (till 4:00 am) by adjusting the XML for horde nights.

I have compared the gamestages.xml files of A16 and A17. There are about 40% less zombies in A17 per wave at a comparable gamestage.

The gamestages cannot be compared directly because the calculation has changed but I currently have a gamestage of 501 and according to the old formula it would have been 2184.

According to the gamestages.xml file of A17 I have 116 zombies per wave and in A16 I had 198 per wave.

And there were trickle zombies in A16 too. These were just weak zombies and only 2 or 3 per wave but they kept you busy until morning.

I noticed that when I have my shotgun ready and following the vultures they just seem to circle over me but if I do not have a weapon and am just trying to get away, they attack. So now I just shoot them down with the rifle and It may take a couple of shots but I do not wait for them to find the right time to attack. So I agree with you they attack when you are not paying attention to them or as you say are injured.

I noticed that the zombies like to attack blocks for no apparent reason so I added a bunch of flagstone blocks 2 high all around and they seem to attack them even when they are not in the path to where I am. Now with my final base being made I have to fortify a pier like thing for my truck with steel over concrete because they attacked it last time and got one reinforced concrete pillar down to 30%. It seems like they got frustrated and just decide to do damage to anything around my base.

Also the wights are a joke now, they used to scare me with the sound of their claws clacking on the ground running at me but now at bloodmoon they walk or lightly jog.

Doing level IV tier quests has 5 feral zombies coming at you like you killed their dog and if you do not have an AK and a SMG forget it. There is no way (for me) to use the shotgun or any melee weapon on these quests. Good news is last bloodmoon 63 I finally got a treasure map from a yellow backpack and yes I do miss coming out and hacking the remains after bloodmoon and getting loot that way. If that treasure map has some diamonds in it I may be able to buy that solar cell level 6 for 32,000, is that normal because at that rate 6 would be 192,000 which may be why I never bothered with a battery bank and went fossil fuel last time with generator banks.

I may sound like I am complaining about A17 like many others but right now I am alt-tabbing on medium level PC and I get hardly any lag anymore, so that's cool at least.
