PC A17.2 RWG is unusable

I do like the idea of islands, but I also understand it messes with the whole Arizona thing. Then again, Navezgane can be the Arizona thing... RWG doesn't have to be. I just hope that it would still allow for rivers and small lakes within. I'm seeing a lack thereof.

This is a good way to think of it. It can be thought of a the zombies being a "global" problem and RWG is used to simulated different areas across the world.

Guys (and also girls if there are any here)... i am still waiting for someone to "build" a seperate map like Navezgane, which we all can play... Perhaps looking more like RWG, but specifically designed with 2-3 big cities in mind and a lot of interesting stuff inbetween?

You mean a map like

D87D9C0440D4BA44D8E3C5A0CBFDADE7AA85CC64

but handmade with details ?

Well thats arround 500-5000 hours of work. Ask 2022 again

I wouldn't say it would take so long. I think around 50-150 hours at most. First you need a good terrain and then start placing POIs on it. Also, you could pick out them by name, as long as you know their width and length. If most of them have similar sizes, it wouldn't be hard to hand pick them, even thematically.

Sure you can upgrade a RWG map in 50-150 Hours.

But a own map you will be happy if you have the highmap after that time.

For a 8x8 BF2 Project reality map (which had arround 1% of the details) the modder needed 1.5 years

Island map will destroy ppl's framerates and alot of servers. Are they crazy? There's memory leaks in the game already. #HoldMyBeer I can make the game lag even more!

Players: Waaaa I cant see where the rad zone is until it's killing me.

Players: Waaaa we don't have enough water on the maps!

TFP:  hold my beer

I'm building one, FYI.

...not as hard as one might think. The (very) time consuming part is adding prefabs, which I haven't begun yet.

Once I learn how to insert prefabs using the world editor it'll go fast.

I'm building one as well, but I am currently focusing on just the prefabs. I wish to make entirely with custom prefabs. Not that I dislike the ones provided for us, but if I am going to go through all the work I want it to be at least fresh and new for anyone who plays it. So yeah, I can foresee at least 1000 hours of work just in that. Then, you still have to place them and make sure the terrain conforms properly... and that part right there is the big time consumer. We have the means to adjust terrain height on the map, but fine-tuning it to the exact block height is a tricky process. As if just figuring out the RGB value for a certain pixel representing the terrain top-down isn't enough, you have to have this height in the terrain match with the dimensions of your prefab. Then, let's say you get that far, now you might have situations where you adjusted the terrain so much to comply with the prefab, that it now needs to be smoothed out some.

Keep in mind this is only half of it. The other half is the roads, where the same terrain adjustments must be made.

Just noticed in my current run that floating POIs are back with a vengeance. About 30% of the buildings in a city I just discovered collapsed on entry as they were on non-flat ground. Even a little dip in the terrain is enough.

how are you getting islands? or even making rwg generator to work. it keeps crashing my system and i am not on a potato.

that was a problem with the origonal 17.2 release. All worlds were making island with massive water. It was fixedwith a patch afterwards.

aww i was kinda digging it.. now i cant get one with water at all..

maybe i need to go look through the original 17.2 files and do a code compare and can "fix" mine to have a bigger island and less water
