PC A17.1: "For builders, we have bolstered XP for harvesting and mining substantially"

I have 4 campfires going during the day to summon screamers while i collect resources near the base. I hang around and let the screamer scream to her heart's content to generate the largest daytime horde including more screamers and just kill all of that and then resume resource gathering. It sounds like staying at base and collecting resources is finally getting better.

 
Does weathersurvivaloff in the console not work anymore? I was playing around with heat/cold and tried it and the Red Sun icon was still there even though I got acknowledgement from the console that it turned off.
I don't know off hand, but we're not done with weather.

 
We definitely need more pink dye in the game. That's for sure. And a pink unicorn skin for the AK47 would be nice too :D
And by the way I actually have a burning pink spiked club of doom and almost all my weapons are pink :D
LOL I was referring to the flawless quality objects, not the dye. But I do have some pink stuff, not because its my favorite color, but I can't leave the damage bonus on the table.

 
You have a point there, but I feel that with the current progression you get enough by just mining, we shall wait and see, maybe you should make undocumented changes to enemies so everyone has to figure it out
We try to be as transparent as possible. I'm sure I could survive without mods and just crafting, but I like mods because they are interesting and make life better. Good loot is a nice driving force IMO.

 
I can not wait until they add setting for xp and blood moon and everyone gets all tongue twisted calling everything modded.
That is NOT modded. Its a game setting. A mod requires you to change the core xml or other part of the game through outside means. If using a setting is "modding" than anyone playing anything other than default setting is playing modded as well. Which is going to get REAL sticky if they add a host of options.

Have your day zombies set to run? MODDED! Have Xp gain cut in half? MODDED! Blood Moon every 5 days? MODDED! No one will ever be playing a vanilla game again if you count using in game settings as modded.
Primarily we will support the default options of the game, but we would not consider non default settings as modded.

Sounds like we should raise the GS of each scream so you want to shut her up ASAP and hide in your ruins.

 
It is designed to encourage people to go and adventure together in a party. I don't know why they even added the options of more than 100m tbh. 50m is plenty. If you are more than 50m apart you aren't an adventuring party. You're friends for sure but you aren't a party.
Clearly you've never played D&D with me.

DM: You enter the massive doors of the dungeon...

Me: I turn around and walk out into the countryside.

(Many actions later.)

DM: Everybody but Jedo enters the dragon throne room...

Me: I run back into the dungeon bringing the horde of wandering goblins that I antagonized. See, guys? I brought friends!

Also, any color that is not pink or red or solvent breaks the red dot scope. Green makes it a barely visible blue dot scope and the other colors make it a red window scope. :D

From what i have read with the last patch, let alone the last alpha release, you can't hide.

It's not my favorite color either, but nothing better shows my lack of respect. Imagine how humiliating it must be for a zombie to have his skull crushed by a madman with a pink club :D

 
I don't see faster xp mining than killing at least not in SP. I threw a couple molotovs at my horde and got 6k xp in half a second. Are you guys using mods to extend the xp range for team xp? To me its maybe 40% as fast as killing even with good tools and perks, at least in SP. I day spent mining and building might be good for 1-2 levels, a day looting/killing is good for 5 levels, at level 50 ish.
Same as usual.

For all - things are bad, and for madmole - all as good as always.

What's wrong with us?

1 zombie grunt kill = 550 XP

1 tree chopped = 188 XP

How can you not see? You think 1 zombies is worth 3 trees when I can 4-shot the trees with light attacks?

And for the record, 1 car wrenched = ~2400 XP

I went to the wasteland and wrenched cars for half a day and levelled 5 times

 
Yeah, and I did not even increase the XP for the major payout items like engines or batteries.

This is all the "basic stuff harvesting" XP.

Also, with "dm" enabled you should be able to bring up debug info with F3 and toggle this tick button thing.



Then you can see the recorded _XPFromKills and _XPFromHarvest.

Can't be sure when that started recording but it's a useful breakdown to have going forward. ;)

 
What I see: We think you complain about XP so we did this, which shows we still don't get it.

No more gun parts, no more learning skills by doing, no more item quality actually makes a difference.

Nope, you still don't get it. But this was your vision all along, that's why you made the gun parts, that's why we had recipes, that's why we had all of that stuff. Because THIS, without all that stuff was your vision all along, right? Why do you break everything every time and introduce completely new stuff that nobody wants except you?

You gain more xp by killing faster, and facing deadlier enemies when you level, and by harvesting MORE resources from better tools and perks, so the amount of xp you can get scales upwards, as well as how much xp needed to level.
For this to be balanced the xp curve of every activity has to be somewhat similar to the others, over the whole level- and perk-range. How much easier is it to balance a few constant xp per time values?

Yes yes a good argument, you are right...

But, nevertheless, the message of my post was not about "who we are", but about the fact that it is not necessary to say that everything is good, when everything is not good!

It is not necessary to hang noodles on the ears, it offends people who are able to see things as they really are.
