I would like to recommend for the addition of a new type of relay:
A relay "block", enclosed on all sides with one side serving as an open-able "hatch".
This would allow players to design bases with electrical systems while preserving the looks of the base; no need for cables dangling from wall to wall.
Ideally this type of block should be paint-able on all sides, with the opening side showing a small "latch" or handle of some sort. Also it would be great if these blocks are capable of bearing load like their normal base block counterparts (i.e. wood, metal, cobblestone, cement, steel etc.), or even upgrade-able.
