Im not a massive fan of the Eula but that's all ill talk about..and perhaps when the game is more polished i dont want to look up anything about it and hopefully they will at least reword it better

For me I've been playing space marine 2 and 7dtd. I played through with izzos but my main mod i like doesnt work with it. So o turned it off.

And tbh im just waiting for 3.0

I haven't tried Subnautica 2, but the first was good. Unfortunately, even though it was good, it just didn't hook me. So I have been playing a variety of other base building, creating, survival games. Most recently, Night of the Dead, which is good. I also tried Sons of the Forest. That was good, but due to the single map and long distances to travel without good travel options, I only played it once. I have tried a few others like Icarus, Enshrouded, and Valheim. But I haven't played them very far and have up on Valheim completely.

Yea more than likely Icarus is next on my list. Already on my wish list.
Icarus isn't bad, and I see potential in it. But it also feels a bit "off" with some things. I think I'll get past those and like the game, but I haven't given it too much chance since I've been playing Night of the Dead instead. Things like storms that break your base, and if you don't know to research and then make a hammer, you can't repair it. And if you don't realize it early enough, you may not have points to research with since you only get them when you level up. That isn't critical, but the lack of any notification about that, or even just making the basic set of tools unlocked when you start, is odd. You can get animals to follow you to train them, but there isn't any information about how to actually train them, and I believe it'll be some unlock later even though it lets you get them to follow you right away. "Quests" that give you a large area to try to find something in, with a lot of ground cover (grass, bushes, etc.) that makes it very difficult to see what's on the ground... it's all just little things like this, but they do add up. I think I'll still end up liking it, but we'll see. It also has really poor graphics for me, though I can't raise them to the higher levels as the performance of the game isn't great and I have a computer that's around 8 years old. So maybe graphics would be better for someone with a newer computer.

Doesn't Icarus suffer from the ARK problem where the majority of content is locked behind paid DLC's? I've heard the base game is lacklustre without them.

It has a lot of DLC´s yeah. So far we are 60 hours in on the base game and didn´t start the campaign yet. For the price it gives you enough content so far. There are things locked behind DLC´s but mostly cosmetics and different recipes for the same thing that you can also craft with the base game from what i have seen. A few things are DLC locked that you can´t get otherwise but nothing that you really need so far.

I am enjoying Windrose currently, I think Subnautica 2 is next for my group.

A bit, but can be played with just the base game.

For my group the lack of fast travel was more of an issue due (to lack of play time) so we added a teleport mod, which improved it a lot.

I’ll definitely play it once it makes its way to PS. Really enjoyed 1 and Below Zero. Collecting all the eggs, fish, and foliage to build big ol aquariums was heaps of fun. I enjoy swimming and would totally live in an underwater habitat irl so this is the next best thing.

Absolutely. Story is too similar to the original, imo, but all other aspects are looking good thus far.
Had to set up permanent camp at the alien observatory, it's so unique. I have an Observatory and Collector Leviathan...observatory...essentially. Deepwings often pass over as well. Am looking forward to some planned AI tweaks and diversification of wildlife.
It already rivals the original.

I'm already on my second playthrough. Even if it was never updated again, it would still be worth the money.

The story so far is also more interesting than the first two installments. At first, you think it's basically the same as Subnautica, but it's much darker.

I jumped onto Subnautica 2 because the first was so well done. The second has MAJOR issue with the EULA (read it, I don't want to start anything here) and multiple gameplay elements. I'm at the end of it now and I took my time playing, but there are things with this game that need addressing, and I am not referring to gameplay or stability or even performance.

I have over 25,000hrs in Ark SE and I still enjoy the game. I kind of miss how much fun it was playing that one while it was being produced. Right now I am back into 7 Days with friends (we keep coming back every so often for a playthrough and to check new stuff out) and Star Rupture.

Right now I'm just waiting for 3.0. I'm not playing anything at the moment. It's pretty rare for a game to keep me hooked for more than 100 hours, but I always come back to 7 Days to Die.
I've been thinking about trying Windrose, but I'm not sure. I also wanted to play Vein, but it feels like that game still needs a lot more time in development before it's really in a good state.
I'd also like to try Subnautica, but I've never played it. I have a fear of deep, open water (if that's actually a thing), so I've always stayed away from it.
Or maybe it's just me, but I feel like there aren't many truly good survival games out there. There are a few decent ones, but 7 Days to Die is still way better than most of them

I have been watching the neebs crew playing those very same games you are talking about: Windrose, Subnautica 2 and Vein. Vein definitely needs more time in the oven. lol.
Windrose looks like a good group game
Subnautica 2 is better (imo) than the first one or the frozen one (lol) but...if you don't like deep water jump scares...it probably isn't for you.

I see Jawoodle just put out a new vid today...talking about what has been updated in Vein

I don't mind watching EA games from a distance, but, have no interest in ever playing one again.

I have always been nervous around giant ships and areas where suction and such could be going on, but water is all good for me. I grew up on boats on lakes, ponds, and rivers. Subnautica will trigger thalassaphobia, but it may help you get over some of it in a safe way too.

Honestly, I'm weary of the themes present in Subnautica 2's story. Enough with the transhumanism in video games already. Silicon Valley's obsession with that confused ideology is depressing enough. Now, we have see it in every other video game. Others' mileage will vary wildly, of course, but I'm absolutely sick of it, whether it's played for "horror" or not.

I've never found any of the Subnautica games scary, but adorable, wondrous and enjoyable* and...have not an ounce of patience left with every YouTuber who claims Thalassaphobia and acts scared to death for "engagement" purposes. They probably never even heard of Thalassaphobia until it was suddenly on every streamer's lips. Those who honestly suffer from Thalassaphobia might benefit from playing the games, but I wouldn't recommend it as a substitute for real world, dive on in there therapy.

*It's obviously unlike the vast majority of video games, including survival games, which expect you to kill everything in your path to "progress". The focus is on exploration and discovery. Deterrents are abundant. Evasion is an option. Subnautica is unique, yet an awful lot of people refuse to let it be unique. "Give us weapons, now!" "Forced pacifism!" Ugh. Good thing the "crowd" isn't designing it is all I have to say. Is there a game in existence that doesn't have manufactured outrage surrounding it?
