yeah, i burn through those sledges like gasoline in the bikeFor boars, I just go up to them, crouch, and power attack them in the face with a sledgehammer, instakills them. Wolfs, I aggro with an arrow, then walk backwards, the animals don't seem to be able to hit you if you keep walking backwards, some animal AI issue I think. It has to be done right though, you move too late they'll hit you everytime, but once you start moving backwards you'll notice they start swinging at air. I then club or sledge said wolf in the face. If I got a marksman rifle though and a abundance of ammo I use that. my current game I am on day 5 and have over 200 7.62mm bullets and a tier 2 marksman rifle, and I also found a silencer as well. i've not bought a single bullet off a trader, I also have around 200 9mm ammo and about 60 shotgun shells, are from looting.
Best tip I can get is find a sledgehammer asap, its the best thing in game for breaking into things/destroying things you do not plan to harvest. Sledge gives bascally 0 from harvesting stuff, but it has the highest power attack block damage in the game. I got a few points in Miner 69'er and its doing well over 200 block dmg a power attack to steel/stone. Takes 3 hits to bust a 200 hp wood thing though as its set in the xml to do half dmg to wood, but thats still about the same as a iron fireaxe. Its also a great melee weapon. I have 2 in the +headshot dmg perk now, and 3 str, and I can 1 shot all female zombies except the fat momma, and 2-3 shot everything else. Its not as great vs ferals though, as they are much harder to stun, but for normal zombies or single ferals? its pretty legit.
exactly. food isnt an issue.. and there are crafting stations everywhere. its more like the walking dead, they were fine until they started building a community, then you've got issuesSince "Don't starve together" was taken, I came up with A17- "You WILL starve, together!"Seriously though, it hasn't been bad, as others have said there is a lot of adapting, A17 is like a whole new game.
I've done a lot of restarts singleplayer (cause of missing trader bug) and I have noticed that 9 out of 10 there will be a boar or deer nearby spawn, keep an eye on it as you do your starter quests, make some more arrows and kill that sucker! Sneak mode 1st shot for extra dmg, can 1 shot a deer, the pig will take a few shots but they don't seem anywhere as tough as they were before. Then there's the inevitable wolf you will run into, which is a source of meat at least![]()
I've mostly been playing on a public server now with a 4 man team, it's like a full time job for 1 person hunting meat, but we have yet to run out of bacon and eggs. Also seem to be enough random plots of corn, potatoes, berries to be found. If you aren't wounded and just need to eat for stamina, it's slow spamming down baked taters but they get the job done and save the better food for when you need it will stretch out your supplies a lot.
Barns tend to have pigs, also found a house that has pigs in cages on every floor. I came out of one of there with close to 300 meat last night.
Water should really never be a problem. Even if RNJesus ♥♥♥♥s on you for a cooking pot, just keep a tin can on you. It isn't like you need to keep your hydration at 100% anymore.
That's exactly it though isn't Roland? It’s definitely tougher and you have to change your routines in the early game. In A16 you could just get started on your base or exploring and you’d get enough food and water from killing zombies. But that well is dry now so you have to actively secure food during your first few days.
I wouldn't play that map just because of the name.If you try the map seed
DemonSpawn666
The town at 0.0 has sooooo many planted crops it would be impossible to starve.
As for missing trader. All you have to do is start walking toward 0.0 and it will eventually show up on your radar.
Boil the murky water in the jar it is in. Who needs a can anymore. Cans are for melting snow.
I've tried worse names as seeds.... for science, yeah, that's it. :angel:I wouldn't play that map just because of the name.I thought only fourteen year olds came up with names like that.
That's pretty much this whole patch. It's like a whole new game. The unlearning a lot of old habits has been hard but I wouldn't even consider going back to A16 for a second. That's exactly it though isn't Roland? We have to change our tried and true routines and habits.
Hey I'm no exception. I'm an OG and new things are scary to old people.
Changing has been a rough go but if us old guys can do it, so can anyone.
I feel like if people just give it a chance, maybe play a trial game [or two] they'll be fine.
WAIT! WHAT?(the blue things are full pallet of cement, use the shovel)
Food is sourced differently in A17 early game vs A16 and before. I wouldn't say it's any more difficult, just different. You need to rely more on nests, animals, traders and vending machines and less on canned food, which used to be abundant due to zombie loot drops.Best I've done on Normal settings is Day 4 in Navs....
This just isn't FUN sorry... Doesn't matter what I'm doing but I never get a f&*king break from Zombies..... by Day 4 I am so stamina drained n hungry that it's pointless going on.
Oh chuck in a broken leg and GAME OVER!!!!!
Sorry but this isn't fun.
You can't count on animals. You're lucky if you see one a week unless you find a POI with "boar sleepers". Rabbits are 20-times more likely to be spawned in, and only one such spawn seems allowed to exist at any one time.. with a one-week respawn timer. Good luck spotting rabbits.Food is sourced differently in A17 early game vs A16 and before. I wouldn't say it's any more difficult, just different. If you are playing Nav, I would suggest burning forest biome, as you get a lot of destroyed and easily accessed buildings with kitchens to loot and you can see nests far away.
We have not changed any animal spawn chances and we're rolling in meat every time we go out. Are you doing trader quests? They make you travel quite far. I'm our dedicated huntsman and after going around doing a quest or two, I've got at least an inventory slot or even two full of meat from killing and butchering animals. You can't count on animals. Animals are far, far too rare. You get more meat raiding kitchens than you'll ever get from wild animal spawns. You can blow entire days "Hunting" and not find anything except eggs, rocks, and zombies. A17 hunting is done in towns, in refrigerators.
I often wonder how some people are having these issues. You can't count on animals. You're lucky if you see one a week unless you find a barn POI with "boar sleepers". Yeah, same here. I think people are missing them, mainly. The deer don't prance around like cocaine-fueled crazies anymore, they're a little more discrete. But I always have 150-200 + meat in my storage box and 20 or so bacon and eggs.I often wonder how some people are having these issues.
I see rabbits all the time, and they've been one of my primary food sources.
Every single new game I've started, I've run into at least one boar within the first 10-15 minutes of gameplay. They aren't difficult to kill. (Rabbits are easier though.)
If you aren't over-hunting the same area, you're soon swimming in meat. I travelled 2km to a trader, and when I got back to my base I had over 150 meat, and a couple dozen eggs. I got a nice variety of canned foods as well.
"7 Days of Grocery Shopping". I'm sorry but a post apocalyptic world should not have vending machines and traders loaded with infinite loot and food. It's so immersion breaking. I just go to the trader for that initial quest then forget about them. The good loot should be player crafted and/or found!Your doing something very wrong, I've never had food issues or water issues in ANY version of 7 days to die. Including a17e. its especally easy in in a16 and up as we now have the wonders of vending machines, they restock daily and always sell food and water. I'm on day 5 in my current game, and I have 211 meat on me and about 25 bacon and eggs cooked in my inventory, try actually exploring and not just sitting in 1 spot. Animals iirc are on a 7 day respawn (least in a16 they were), so if you want the meat you need to use those legs and travel a bit. Or sell stuff to the trader, see if he has food on him or the vending machine in every trader poi. There are many ways to get food and water in the game that no one should be having problems imo. Vending machines are also in many other random poi's as well.
Its just like the ones whining about forge being level 20. Its like: Do you not know you can find forge's in poi's? do you not know you can loot or buy iron tools off trader including the materials to repair said tools? P.s. you don't need to be able to craft iron/steel tools/anything to repair it, you just need to have the repair material. The devs left it like this on purpose so the smart ones can use what the game provides. Sadly so many people can't seem to wrap their head around this that it rather makes me laugh.
Also, if you find a wrench and see a broken chem station or workbench? wrench that sucker, for some free forged iron, you get more from the workbench than the chem station thou. As far as I know you can't repair those broken poi spawned work stations, so take them apart for their materials.

Thats easy, probally found a forge in a poi, they are in traders and a certan fairly common wilderness poi. Its just rng if its a working or broken one.
If you read the xml it's 1 spawn per week per biome, so you will really need to be ranging far to have a consistent meat supply. Yes you will see it almost immediately when you enter the biome for the first time, but after its dead you're going to be searching in vain for another unless you move to a completely different area.We have not changed any animal spawn chances and we're rolling in meat every time we go out. A point or two in huntsman also makes a world of difference. I can get 60 meat from a wolf.
