Best I've done on Normal settings is Day 4 in Navs....

This just isn't FUN sorry... Doesn't matter what I'm doing but I never get a f&*king break from Zombies..... by Day 4 I am so stamina drained n hungry that it's pointless going on.

Oh chuck in a broken leg and GAME OVER!!!!!

Sorry but this isn't fun.

I literally had 130 raw meat on day 6 in Navezgane playing default settings.

Go to the Barn in the forrest biome.

Should be 3 boars there, with a hunting knife i got loaaadddsss of meat.

No shortage of food here, and no problem with excessive amounts of zombies. Maybe don't target big POIs? Maybe don't hang out where zombies can see you (and therefore aggro to you)? Maybe get different perks? (You were pretty vague, so I can't say what exactly will help you.)

I play three Days without zombies, and 1 day with zombies for the exp, and then go back to three/four more Days without them.

It's a bit soothing, but weird. That grind to 20 is tough so I just sell all the stuff I find for a quick Auger or Chainsaw.

Your doing something very wrong, I've never had food issues or water issues in ANY version of 7 days to die. Including a17e. its especally easy in in a16 and up as we now have the wonders of vending machines, they restock daily and always sell food and water. I'm on day 5 in my current game, and I have 211 meat on me and about 25 bacon and eggs cooked in my inventory, try actually exploring and not just sitting in 1 spot. Animals iirc are on a 7 day respawn (least in a16 they were), so if you want the meat you need to use those legs and travel a bit. Or sell stuff to the trader, see if he has food on him or the vending machine in every trader poi. There are many ways to get food and water in the game that no one should be having problems imo. Vending machines are also in many other random poi's as well.

Its just like the ones whining about forge being level 20. Its like: Do you not know you can find forge's in poi's? do you not know you can loot or buy iron tools off trader including the materials to repair said tools? P.s. you don't need to be able to craft iron/steel tools/anything to repair it, you just need to have the repair material. The devs left it like this on purpose so the smart ones can use what the game provides. Sadly so many people can't seem to wrap their head around this that it rather makes me laugh.

Also, if you find a wrench and see a broken chem station or workbench? wrench that sucker, for some free forged iron, you get more from the workbench than the chem station thou. As far as I know you can't repair those broken poi spawned work stations, so take them apart for their materials.

How did you do the jars though?
Thats easy, probally found a forge in a poi, they are in traders and a certan fairly common wilderness poi. Its just rng if its a working or broken one.

Yeah food it's not as bad as I thought it might be.

It's nowhere near as abundant as A16 and the first few days are pretty hard.

After that, so long as the player is actively looking, they should be okay.

I've gotten very lucky with hunting lately.

Several animals per week.

My god, did not think about this.

Have been struggeling with 10 jars all the time haha!

As you see almost everyone ends up with an overabundance of food, because they are doing something right. Try to do the same. Make finding food a priority, hunt, get crates etc. You can't just completely ignore it now.

How did you do the jars though?
I pick up and save all jars.. like.. from toilets.. i mean.. in 16 we were tossing jars out at the end of the first week because we could forge them. but my priorities are finding jars of water, jars of murky water, jars of beverages, and empty jars. and to make sure i dont drop any, I always leave an empty one on my tool bar. so i collect them and make an effort to collect them. and when i reach a decent amount and am heading back to my base, i stop and fill them up and deposit them in a chest until I'm ready or able to boil the water.

also, tin cans can be used to collect and boil water, so if you have at least 1 tin can you can get water.

best places to collect jars (filled or empty) are toilets, sinks, trash cans, and trash along the roads. keep an empty on your belt at all times so you dont drop any when you drink due to a filled backpack.

It’s definitely tougher and you have to change your routines in the early game. In A16 you could just get started on your base or exploring and you’d get enough food and water from killing zombies. But that well is dry now so you have to actively secure food during your first few days. Keep snow and tin cans with you until you secure a pot. Don’t ignore rabbits or boars. Look for gardens.

If you’re playing solo consider dropping down a difficulty level or two. Current default is great for a team of players but much harder for single player than A16 was.

I know.. haha.. I had 100 bacon and eggs by day 5, and 500 cooked or raw meat.. its like the does just wander into your arms to be killed. wolves are a bit trickier, but if you snipe them from afar you can usually bring them down before they bite you. boars too. but the caged or fences boars are just there for the taking. and meat, i keep finding charred meat in bbq grills. i do miss he plains for its abundance of corn. but farms are a dime a dozen and usually have corn, blueberries, and hogs.

turn on airdrops and you get an abundance of canned food, jars of water, and ammo. i sell every gun i find and use it to buy resources.

Everyone has been too spoiled with A16.

We all have being playing 7DTD on rainbows while riding unicorns.

Now we are back in hell with Satan, fire and starvation around the corner.

A16 was like The Sims with zombies for me.

Your playstyle is a lot like mine haha. :fat:

I got most of my jars from kitchen cabinets I think. Thanks for the tip regarding the forge and dismantling broke workstations. I completely forgot about those.

ah yes, i keep forgetting snow, one of my gaming partners used to carry piles of snow and a tin can for almost infinite water.

its day 23 for me and I've finally settled down to start a base, but really its more like where i store my campfire and sleeping bag, because i'm just so busy wandering aroudn and enjoying the sights and things to do in this incarnation of the game. previous versions of 7d2d by day 21 we'd have a fully stocked and defended base.

I only found first 2 days abit harsh but i noticed airdrops now bring in loads of food (got like 6 tins of it from one drop).

I also only go in POIs to raid the kitchens lol, dishong tower just to raid ourbucks coffee shop etc then get out.

edit: another tip is sell some loot, loot in cars seems to have gotten alot better, i got 2 nailguns from them on first day. Saved some stuff in a chest and on sunrise of day 3 i went trader and got a nice load of grub ^.^.... and a knife

yeah i think we got lazy while zombies were practically deaf in a16. everybody is running around using guns and complaining about the loads of zombies they run into. where, if you mainly use bows (wood, cross, or compound) zombies hardly notice you. I now keep a couple of guns on me for hornight and collect ammo for then, but on a daily basis, the silence of bowhunting really makes this game a cakewalk. I have to make an effort to zombie hunt for XP now.

I have a trick for getting through POIS too, do not step on piles of trash or use guns. that wakes the zombies and then you have trouble. instead, use an ax to break up the trash before you get near it and use a bow to snipe zombies from across the room while crouched. you can make it almost completely through a POI without waking a zombie.

For boars, I just go up to them, crouch, and power attack them in the face with a sledgehammer, instakills them. Wolfs, I aggro with an arrow, then walk backwards, the animals don't seem to be able to hit you if you keep walking backwards, some animal AI issue I think. It has to be done right though, you move too late they'll hit you everytime, but once you start moving backwards you'll notice they start swinging at air. I then club or sledge said wolf in the face. If I got a marksman rifle though and a abundance of ammo I use that. my current game I am on day 5 and have over 200 7.62mm bullets and a tier 2 marksman rifle, and I also found a silencer as well. i've not bought a single bullet off a trader, I also have around 200 9mm ammo and about 60 shotgun shells, are from looting.

Best tip I can get is find a sledgehammer asap, its the best thing in game for breaking into things/destroying things you do not plan to harvest. Sledge gives bascally 0 from harvesting stuff, but it has the highest power attack block damage in the game. I got a few points in Miner 69'er and its doing well over 200 block dmg a power attack to steel/stone. Takes 3 hits to bust a 200 hp wood thing though as its set in the xml to do half dmg to wood, but thats still about the same as a iron fireaxe. Its also a great melee weapon. I have 2 in the +headshot dmg perk now, and 3 str, and I can 1 shot all female zombies except the fat momma, and 2-3 shot everything else. Its not as great vs ferals though, as they are much harder to stun, but for normal zombies or single ferals? its pretty legit.
