[2.5] Rally Marker Causes Incorrect Stability Calculation (Manual Recalc Fixes It)

Version
2.5 (b32)
Platform
Windows
When I hit the rally marker to start a quest, parts of my POI's suddenly show as unstable in stability view (sections turn black), even though they are normally supported. This never happened before 2.5 using the exact same POIs.
  • This did not happen before 2.5.
  • My Mega Mall is made from multiple smaller questable POIs joined together, not one huge POI.
  • The stability only goes wrong the moment the rally marker starts the quest.
  • If I open Dev Mode and press Recalculate Stability, everything immediately goes back to normal.
So the rally marker calculation seems wrong, but the manual one is correct.
(Please see the video)

If this turns out to be an engine limitation, I would really appreciate any suggestions or workarounds before marking it as “not a bug,” as this issue only began in 2.5 and affects multiple joined quest POIs inside the mall.

This is a bug in 2.5 that can cause any POI to start to collapse. It is random and starting a quest at the same POI again may not cause the collapse. I have had many different POI collapse because of it in my game.

Here's a link to it in the confirmed forum. That thread also has a link to one I posted about it.

Interesting. Does anything collapse?

If not, I wonder if they turn black because all of the blocks just got reloaded and maybe the code that computes structural integrity hasn't had a chance to run...? That is, rather than the marker having any role in stability, it just forced a POI reload and then some other process eventually kicks in to do the structural integrity check.

If I were to take out a fake vent or shanty wall in the questable POI, or walk on the black area on the roof those blocks would fall off. Using the manual recalculate stability in dm mode 'after hitting the rally marker' returns it to normal safe stability.
