PC 2.0 timetable, mean streamers, and console to pc converts

(sorry if the translation is not accurate) I want to ask, how many weeks is a few? The date is somehow vague, so it could be 52 weeks (year)

Mod note: These conversations were split from the 2.0 developers diary

since 2.0 has been pushed since q4 last year going on 8 months, does anyone know if the mircrosoft or sony approval to dedicated has anything to do with that?

A few weeks would normally mean somewhere around 3 weeks, though with TFP, I'd take it to be 3-5 weeks.  It obviously isn't 52.  But the delay is at least partly due to severe bugs, so if it takes them longer to fix those bugs, it'll take longer to release.  You just have to wait and see.

Hi 👋 All

will they be tornadoes and other bad weather on Storm brewing update on console too

when is it coming out too

@Crater Creator
I have never seen any mention of tornados.  Bad weather will be in 2.0 for both PC and console and will be released as stable to both at the same time, though that isn't a guarantee that Microsoft or Sony will make the update available at the same time (Steam will probably always be first).  In most cases, console would get it at least within a day or two if it's not available the same day as on Steam.  Xbox for PC version seems to get delayed a lot, so who knows how long they'll have to wait.

As they have said, 2.0 is delayed at least a few weeks.  We might still get experimental in May, but I wouldn't expect stable until June.  Just remember that console can't use experimental versions, so you have to wait until stable.

No.  It was already mentioned previously that they had dedicated ready but thought that V2.0 was just around the corner so it was delayed to launch with V2.0.  2.0 was not delayed because of dedicated servers.

I love this question. It's awesome. Around here (geographically speaking)...

A "couple" is two, but vague, so 1-3 but probably two.

A "few" is more than two but less than some other vague descriptor, so 3+ but probably not 12 or they might say a "dozen."

A "handful" is usually five, so 4-6, but not many people say that.

At some point they would switch to months, so my guess is they mean 3-7 weeks.

But this is TFP. They're not trying to be accurate. It's a feeling. A sentiment. An aspiration. And, it could have come from somebody who couldn't see the whole picture.

No. The content they wish to push isn't quite ready yet. They wouldn't hold up 2.0 for dedicated servers. If Sony and Microsoft haven't approved crossplay via dedis by time 2.0 is ready then that feature will be pushed to a 2.x update. But it sounds from faatal's comments that approval has already been obtained but they want to push it out with 2.0 and not before.

They said "several weeks" so probably.. 3-4 years?

im really not buying that, it wouldn't make sense to not release console to dedicated if it was ready... to many people been waiting for console to dedicated ialso right now... common sense would tell anyone an update like that would do wonders for the moral waiting for 2.0.

It also does not make any sense to cut the changes from 2.0 to make a 1.5 hotpatch for the sole purpose of enabling dedicated server support for consoles. The changes and code integrations to support this run much deeper than just some kind of separated plugin.

It makes more sense to release the full package that will have the approval when it is ready. Which is 2.0. Which is still delayed because of core system mechanics that are not completed yet.

You can buy it or not, but that doesn't change the facts.

I'm sure you remember the cluster @%$# that Alpha 17 release was because the developers pushed the updates out incomplete and barely tested. We don't need that to happen with 2.0 just because a few of you can't keep your pants on.

yeah i get that but i also get that this whole time the expectation was console to dedicated would be released before 2.0, thats what the plan was and thats what everyone was told up untill recently.

call it deception, call it bad management, call it bad timing or call it what ever you want, if console to dedicated is ready and not being released thats a huge mistake.
...these guys don't want to hear that nonsense...it is only a console problem. they know you are right about all of it...

Everyone was told that crossplay would come before 2.0 and it did. The expectation was that peer to peer would come first and dedicated servers would come later. That will also happen as promised.

You and Hammer have been on a lot over the past few months making demands and spouting your own expectations but nobody on TFP staff has ever pushed the expectation that dedicated servers would come by a specific date or before a specific update.

I’m not sure why you are particularly excited for dedi support since any dedicated server a console player will be able to join will have to be strictly vanilla. Are your servers strictly vanilla?  Are your PC players ready to go back to vanilla just to have console players join in?

For someone who uninstalled the game, you sure seem to care a lot about it.
I have uninstalled, I do care about the game...the two things can co exist. It's been a couple of weeks...thought I'd catch up...see if "several weeks" was still accurate. Will do the same thing in a few more week. Since you interact with social media posts...maybe tell these guys that the demand for dedicated servers is real. It's not just a few "malcontents". I'd say it directly, but, these guys still @%$# about alpha 17...which launched Dec 22, 2018. and even about that you'll get mixed opinions as, some see it as it had a lot of bug fixes, OR, it was a buggy mess...it did change/make irrelevant SOME game play choices...which was not received well by all...and is honestly what they mean when they talk about the bugginess of it. imo

My guess is, don't expect an experimental until early June, and a release in July

There is demand for dedicated servers, no one is denying that.

However, not everyone is acting like you are. We both know how you act on Twitter.
