I can't get any armor magazines while doing quests and I'm on day 17 and all I get are horde nights and the end loot is just pop and bill boxes and food. I couldn't find any armor magazines during the quest and are armor magazines so rare these days that I don't normally get them. I don't boost them with skills. Crafting skill is currently 10/100 and I only get them from horde nights and if there has been a salvage box they only come out as a knife and bowie magazines

Simple answer highest, but probability of finding magazines is complicated. I can explain the mechanics behind the hood:

Each magazine at start has a probability of 1 to find (default unless the container assigns them a specific loot probability like high or low). So in a container where any magazine is possible, you have an equal chance of finding any of them when you loot it.

When you start adding perk levels, you gain +2 chance to the magazine series that the perk raises the find chance to. So say you perk into light armor and medium armor, the probability to find those is 3 and the...

okay, I can be mistaken, but my brain is also ADHD ■■■■■■■■. The way i see the statistical way of getting certain skill based books, you need to increase the corresponding skill (attribute), to increase your chance of getting a book for a specific skill.

While my brain is totally idiotic, it also realizes that there are 12 skills available for armor alone, when you check the general skills list. that means, at least to my brain, that i increase my chances by roughly 8% per level, to get the armor book. Not including the RNG roll dice crap I also have to face, if i have any other kind of perks learned, that also gets thrown into the mix, when rolling chance for book or no book.

My advice to you, open book shelves and book crates, to have a better chance of getting armored up books.


On a personal note, after getting shotguns, auto rifles and such to 100%, I still had to go go 15 traders, to buy the last 40+ armor books, to get it to 100.

There is a localization mistake in the current armor skill description. It says "Boost loot odds by increasing any attribute", but it should say "Boost loot odds by increasing any Armor Perk". The localization should be fixed in a future update.
Increasing any of the armor perks in the general perk tab(Light Armor, Medium Armor, or Heavy Armor) will boost the loot odds for the Armor crafting skill.

I'll also add that if you struggle with magazines, there are two perk levels in the Intellect Mastery Perk that will make it FAR easier. You still have to look in the right places, but you can get extra magazines and books and can double the magazine "level" each time you read one. It makes a huge difference. I decided to try it out to see how much difference it made. In a single low tier POI (I think it was tier 2), I had found at least 9 additional magazines, books, and schematics. That's insane in such a small POI. And that didn't even count how many double points I got when reading them. That does take an investment into Intellect that you might not want to do, but it's an option if you're having too much trouble finding magazines.

The problem is that even if I don't boost the skill, I still don't get those armor magazines and other magazines come normally and I haven't boosted these either.

The Magasine shown in the picture are so I haven't boosted these, but they still come up often.
