18GB of RAM usage and can't see more than 100 feet in front of me

I restarted the computer already and went through steam as usual.

Starting today, 7 Days to die has decided to suck up 18GB of my RAM. Not sure where or how much it sucked up before, but I noticed it today since when there were zombies around to fight or I was using the pickaxe to get the last chunk off of a block, it would freeze up a bunch. I would drop to (if I was lucky) 1FPS in battle or a second of hesitation when I broke the last chunk from a block.

Any ideas on what has happened? Everything is 2 weeks old, from a reformat on the computer to resetting the entire server (we have through LogicServers).

We are running latest 20.6, with latest Undead Legacy and Compo Pack. It has only started today that this is happening.

Also, I cannot seem to look further than 100 feet or so. Before I reformatted, I could view very very far, but since the reformat I can't see far and have issues flying into buildings that spawn right in my way.  A friend has a vanilla 20.6 server I play on and have this same issue. I have googled everything to no avail. Anyone else with these issues?

Everything in device manager is installed, no exclamation point anywhere. It still bugs me that the game was working properly 2 days ago and then it clunks out. I think that may be on my side.

Any help on the vision thing? Not being able to see 100 feet in front of me is terrible. I have a 2080ti and my buddy with 1050 can see further than I can!

Given your response, my guess is you have Microsoft junk drivers installed, hence the issues. Microsoft updates installs drivers to make the hardware work to a minimum standard (removing the exclamations), so you don't see where the problem is. Figure out what graphics card you have and go to the manufacturer's website and get the proper drivers for at least that. Motherboard chipset drivers are also important for stability and performance reasons, but not nearly as important as the GPU.

Once you get proper drivers, you'll be able to up the visual settings within the game.

Update, installed the latest drivers through Asus, for both the motherboard and bios as well as the GPU. Still having issues with vision distance. Anyone with great view distance, can you screenshot your video settings in game for me to try and copy?

Did you try adjusting your in-game options? There's a View Distance option, just set it to high.

GPU driver needs to come from Nvidia/AMD Not Asus. That's nearly as bad as getting them from Microsoft.
Well, I don't know much about Asus's GPU drivers, but I've always gotten my EVGA GPU drivers from EVGA directly, never from Nvidia. I've never had any issues doing it that way (then again EVGA was always kind of a tier above everyone else when it came to quality), so it never really occurred to me that Asus might provide bad drivers for their own GPUs. I do know from first hand experience that Asus drivers haven't always been great for their motherboards though (to this day, their LAN drivers doesn't work at all for my B550 motherboard and have been stuck with Microsoft's junk drivers for over 2 years now, luckily, the junk drivers works fine enough for me).

Well in your case EVGA specialized in GPU's. Asus specializes in laptops and motherboards. As a result, most of their driver packages are bare minimum. Because laptops.

Also, IIRC that B550 LAN chipset is Intel.

Can you screenshot the "I can only see 100 feet" effect and post it here? I've tried from Lowest to Ultra

and can't reproduce any effect that limits my vision like that.
