Console [07/11] - Message from the Team - Progress update

It does, but it's also not really addressing my point. It wouldn't matter if they redid every item in the game, or re-wrote every line of code. Granting that it's a huge update, or that there's lots of things coming out of it, that doesn't preclude them from giving faster, or small, updates about what they're doing. It's not about them actually releasing anything at all (until they're ready to do so), but simply saying "hey guys, these are things we're working on" with some small details.

That's not something console developers typically do. This is largely because if they said "Hey we're working on X", and then X never made it, all of the kiddies would go ballistic and trash the company all over social media.

You're not going to hear about anything until they are 100% sure it's going to happen, and even then you may not hear anything.

100% agree, and remember it's not only in video games.

Remember how cars manufacturers hide their new models under a tarpaulin/cover.

Remember how some processed foods are suddenly labelled as "new recipe".

And so on ...

In video games, we are lucky, we don't have to buy a brand new car or buy more cans of processed food in order to get the benefits of the "new" features.

Usually a software update (free or not) is enough.

But it doesn't means we will have all info explained before official release, for the obvious reasons SylenThunder explain above.

I agree with sawth77. the reality is there is no viable good explanation other than console players have been treated as 2nd best and it's quite embarrassing there PR skills pathetic even and more shocking the last update was December 2017 I know people will leap too there defence but you can't argue the fact they could of and should of done alot more for console players. I'm glad we're finally getting a update hallelujah but I find it ridiculous we can't get a rough estimate too when it'll be ready

I mean yeah console support was definitely lacking as was the quality of the port but not much we can do but wait and politely ask Claire about updates.

Is isn't about taking sides or anything. TFP are still making the game on PC and still in production on it. This is TFP forums technology. They send the files over for another company that bought the rights for console. So they do not do the porting and such themselves so they can not give information or updates on something they are not working on. So it does seem like console gets the shaft but on TFP side of things not much they can do.

TT and IG are not creating the game itself they only doing the ports. They personally have not been here on the forums from day one. They send information to Clare to pass to us and Clare passes information from us to them. This is how it has been and I don't personally see it changing.

I do agree that more and better communication could be done but as it has been said they most likely will not give information on anything until they are finished. I know you, many others and even myself would most likely be understandably and such but if they said I don't know just an example electricity was coming but by the time it released they wasn't able to get it to run stable on console so had to take it out then they get just as much lash from people and say they lied and so much more. Don't believe it? Look over on the PC side it happens pretty much daily over there. So agree or disagree on it, it most likely not going to change that part of how much they tell ahead of time. Another prime example from just recently on PC side they just said something along the lines that A17 might or something be ready in July. Because it wasn't ready they caught a lot of bash from people that don't understand or don't care to understand. So the same thing would happen here if the gave a date. Something might come up and they can't make that date then here comes all the bashing. So one way or another they are going to get bashed so they pick to get bashed by not releasing enough information. The best way they see it and again agree or disagree but to just say they are working on this and it be ready later. Seeing how long and what all TFP had to do for PC with this unity update I personally can understand why it is taking awhile for console. I can't say they are or not but the PC have found ways to get the game to run better on PC so maybe they are waiting to see of they can use some of that to get it to run better on console. But maybe they are just going and planned and it is just a heavy task to do. Either way it shouldn't be to much longer as the year is getting closer to a end and they did say later this year.

Why not close this thread then? Rather then us fighting against each other we can just see if there is a new topic under this category. Tired of checking the forums everyday for something new. Only to read the same old arguments. There is no point on commenting on this long worn out topic.

Maybe...until you look at the actual dev channel for for the game with joel (or any other dev-diary where companies do the same thing). Joel, for example, has a pretty consistent set of videos showing off what they're doing and putting into the game (read: 4 videos in 5 months). He's literally showcasing what's coming up in Alpha 17. Other devs do something along those same lines, so it's not that uncommon...and even if you wanted to maintain that argument, the company that develops *this* game seems to do what i'm proposing already (bypassing the "but TFP doesn't do the console version, it's TT/IG" argument, see below about them stepping up more in this regard).

I'd even be fine if they held off on things that they knew 100% were going to be included. I'm not saying we need a strict play-by-play, but even small blurbs are better than nothing. Even using the disclaimer of "we don't know if this is going in" works fine for most people. Asking for a simple text message on a forum board from TT/IG doesn't seem to be some Herculean task by any stretch, but I get your point otherwise. Letting this one go, take care.

Hi everyone,
Please see below for the latest Message from the Team regarding Patch 14 and the Unity 2017 upgrade!

Clare

---------------

Hi everyone,

We wanted to give you an update on how things are progressing with the
upgrade to Unity 2017. We are still on track and currently working on ensuring the menus are behaving as they should with the new upgrade. After that we'll be moving onto getting the core single player game working on the new engine having already gotten a first bootable build with functional front-end UI.

We're eager to tackle the more persistent bugs in the game once the upgrade is complete, and excited to start to add some of the new features from A15 and A16 including new map locations for you to explore.

Thank you all once again for your continuing patience and support. We'll be in touch again soon with more details on the progress of the upgrade and Patch 14.

Until then, happy surviving!

dear clare

can a ask does this patch include electrical tools and traps or is it just a map extenstion i been playing this game alot with my brother on xbox and really enjoy it this is my first forum i have ever looked at and tbh this game rules my life when i aint working so would just like to no how i would find out what is coming with this update....

The hype train has ran out of gas, steam, coal, whatever. Sad. I've been filling what play time i have with DbD n some other games. No sense continuing a game here when it almost positively will not carry over after the update/upgrade

Same here. I'm itching to get back into 7dtd but like you say, its almost certain we'll have to start brand new maps so why bother.

I know everyone is frustrated but we just gotta be patient. Im hella anxious for this update too but fact of the matter is we should be grateful they are still working on this game, giving us free updates.

The game is and was sold as a finished product. Everything we have received, bug fixes & content, has been to simply make the game better, not because we're owed anything.

It's gonna be so awesome when the update hits! Surely will be worth the wait.

Is it possible that the first post from Clare can be updated with further news from this thread? I cant be bothered to read all 32 pages of posts to find information from the devs.

Thanks

Will not happen. No new news to share. If any new news come Clare will start a new thread about it for this specific reason so it doesn't get lost in the pages of post. So in the 31 pages you are not missing any information besides speculations and opinions on things.

and complaining and lamentations and ... self-restraint instead of patiently waiting ... for a miracle, but ... waiting patiently

Googled iron galaxy seems there a independent business with 2 studios and the one location in Orlando Florida made the 7 days to die port. So I’d say it really depends on if they have been paid to make the update already whether or not we will get it. Hopefully Clare can clarify everything up for us.

I'm sure some information will be shared soon. Looks like they still will have some staff left to manage the deals they have with partners so let's see what comes from it. Console could still see at the very least one more update.
