Console [07/11] - Message from the Team - Progress update

Will we also be getting Traps and generator and other stuff like that and painting?
We do not know anything about that but many of us share similar opinions that there probably will be the paint system. We do not think that there will be implemented electricity due to a lack of optimization. As long as we do not have more information about the effect of the engine upgrade we can't give an estimation.

Also, the tall buildings are FPS killers so... Probably not.

While I can let the team know how the community is currently feeling (looking for info etc) the info is released when it is ready and there will be a new post created in News and Announcements so keep an eye out there. I won't add extra info into large threads as it would be lost for lots of players.

Though there are exceptions where clarification may be needed and if required I will add it to the first post in the thread so it's not missed.

seems like i chose a good time to check the forum heh, though i do have a question regarding updates my xbox says the last update to the game was 11/9/2017; has it really been that long?

Not sure if that's a US style of date writing or a European one, but either way patch 13 went live on the 13th of December 2017. Your game version on XB1 should read 1.0.18.0 as the latest version.

This was the announcement for it - https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?78568-12-13-Message-from-the-Team-Patch-13-LIVE-at-01-00-UTC!

I think it was more around December if I'm not mistaken. Maybe a bug update in January or something but can't remember for sure or not on that one.

No reason to use resources to do something when it is going to be redone with this update. As far as I'm aware they are having to redo all the ports for this. That isn't a easy task especially with all the factors involved. After this update comes out I'm 99% sure it will get back on track the way it was and will get updates like before. (When I say updates I'm not talking about content more talking about fixes and such).

Well Clare posted at the same time lol so see above.

Thanks Clare

ah, my bad i often forget there's more than one way to write the date, but yes it was a US style date. Also wow I guess unity changed a lot in their 2017 update huh, idk the details of the changes they made but it seems like they changed it so much that it's almost a new engine entirely XD.

Maybe this has been said elsewhere, but having somewhat more frequent updates from the devs would be rather welcome. Not saying they have to go into depth on what's being worked on, but even quick blurbs about small things would likely set people at ease about updates.

I understand things take time to build and test, especially with a small team. I also understand that they don't want to show all of their proverbial cards early. But a small post, even once a month, saying "hey, this is what we're doing in general" would be nice.

Otherwise, thanks to Claire and the devs for the work done so far. :)

That would be welcome in dead but.....

The actual developers are not working on console so console gets ports after PC and such that has been said so don't really want to go into that again.

The company doing the ports for console don't come to the forums themselves. They pass the information to Clare and she passes information to them.

Besides all of that this specific kind of update isn't one that just puts together and releases this now and that later. Again posted already so don't want to keep repeating.

So really all we can get right now is more and better communication from IG/TT but how it is now is most likely how it will be. This is how they have done things and personally don't see them changing that. Regardless how I or anyone else feels about it.

I'm aware of the relationship with TFP and TT/IG, just seems odd that they seem so disconnected and disjointed.

True, but wasn't saying they cobble out updates piecemeal. Was saying that they could throw out an update like "These last 2 weeks, we've been hammering out issues with bugs in X area". If i'm not catching what you mean, sorry...haven't slept and it's 4am.

Overall, I understand that the TT/IG folks handle the console items. I think it's a disservice that they don't check the forums of the game they build/support/work on. Maybe they should be paying attention to their customers and fans, if they really aren't doing so, rather than playing what amounts to the telephone game with Claire to us.

Thanks for the reply, have a good evening (or morning)! :)

Not sure if I did or what. But anyway what I'm saying is this specific update they have to redo the game. So yes they might have this ready but it isn't going to work on the version of the game you have so you only have one or a few things of the game. This specific update is a all in one kind of update or none at all. So they might have all the blocks and new skill tree added in that they can add but it will not do any good to have it on the current unity version that you are playing. So they release that then what are you going to play if nothing else is ready? Does that make sense now?
