Console [07/11] - Message from the Team - Progress update

I own on PS4 and pc and in my opinion neither runs smooth or handles that well. The game needs some serious polish on controls and performance. Great game just needs some serious tlc. I know pc is still early access but most early access game still are optimized better than this game.

Except that no other EA game is doing half as much processing as 7 Days is. So you're comparing apples to cherry cobbler.

I can say this as an Xbox player who is currently building a PC, I will not be purchasing PC7 Days due to the Xbox base resets. The game is just fine with its current content. It NEEDS fixes. We WANT content. Big difference.
You are right it needs fixing but still avoiding the point. A bug team working on fixes has nothing to do with the team working on porting besides fixing issues from that.

Every update so far they have done they have added fixes in them so it isn't like they are not working on it. But do what you feel you gotta do I'm still going to be over here enjoying what I have on ps4 and PC.

Yes this is true but it’s a quality that is expected in games today regardless of how hard it is to do.

I guess I just don't understand the fuss here. I own both the ps4 and pc version of this game. The console version is a complete game, and any updates are bonus. But I get the feel many think they are entitled to receive more. The game could have been left as it was at console release with no new updates at all. I would consider us all lucky to have a game that gives updates and content for free instead of packing them into a dlc and making us pay.
Game is marketed on the ps4 as an EA game that will be updated.

Any recent updates???

Hi everyone,
Please see below for the latest Message from the Team regarding Patch 14 and the Unity 2017 upgrade!

---------------

Hi everyone,

We wanted to give you an update on how things are progressing with the
upgrade to Unity 2017. We are still on track and currently working on ensuring the menus are behaving as they should with the new upgrade. After that we'll be moving onto getting the core single player game working on the new engine having already gotten a first bootable build with functional front-end UI.

We're eager to tackle the more persistent bugs in the game once the upgrade is complete, and excited to start to add some of the new features from A15 and A16 including new map locations for you to explore.

Thank you all once again for your continuing patience and support. We'll be in touch again soon with more details on the progress of the upgrade and Patch 14.

Until then, happy surviving!

Is there any news on the next update? Like perhaps a date or even a month that the update could be expected? Hopefully soon...

Incorrect. It’s a final product on console only pc is early access. No where in the description in either console store says it’s early access.

They should have just tried installing unity 2019 so at least it would be up to date by the time we get it. buh dum tis
Good thought but doubt we'll see that this generation of consoles. Im with a lot of others in thinking we're most likely getting at the limit of what the consoles will be able to handle. But you never know right.......

Updating to another Unity version is not a trivial call.

That's only done when it has features that noticeably improve the existing workflow or solves technical issues that the project actually has.

No one does that for fun. =)

I don't know nor care which exact version consoles will be using. Not my job. =)

That's not really how this works. 2017 is not going to do better or worse than 2016 because it doesn't do anything. If anything stresses the hardware then it's the game and the demands it puts on CPU and RAM. (voxels, y'know)

Maybe, it is something I definitely wouldn't get hopes up for but they have made some great changes and found some good ways on PC for better performance. So it could be possible that console could see some of those things and maybe it will help it out. Like I said I wouldn't get hopes up on but something to maybe have a small chance in being possible.

Ok i'm confused then. If unity 2016 & 2017 are more or less the same, then why are they updating? This is the game engine that the game runs on....correct? So a better engine should make the game run better, thus better optimization, allowing more items from the later versions.

Am i just not understanding this then or what? I get the voxels system & how taxing it is on the system but what you said i guess just doesnt make sense to me.

He probably means don’t expect more from it then it is. Hopefully there is some improvement but this may be more about aligning the code bases to make porting changes easier. No one does work just for fun.

im so bored of this conversation, its the same every update. we get a sniff of some info then nothing for months. everyone speculating and getting the arse. all i want is good lighting, dont care about vehicles.

There is quite a lot of bureaucracy involved with a "console patch"...
& we can thank sony & microsoft for this...

Man i want this update. No mans sky is just boring again, their so called big updates didnt help the game much.

Yeah the new lighting is meh. I’d sell my soul for the paint brush and opening up the traders to all creative.

they'd have to submit something before it could be the consoles fault.

I've never seen it take more than a week or two (rarely) to get approved and I fully understand their stand point, so it's not an issue.
