Well, it was tagged "Not a bug" way before that, so lets see what actually is "fixed"

I like the game a lot, and i have my gripes here and there, no doubt the game is not perfect. I personally dislike the magazines. But that's me, there's another player who likes it. And everytime i stand on a skyscraper and watch the cities i am happy how far the game has come. But i also just started with A18.

We can truly only speculate but I firmly believe TFP had absolutely no intention of bringing temperature back because it was pretty much silently removed with the armor update and went MIA for 2 years
During that timeframe, numerous items and assets were removed without any explanation. Consequently, everyone has developed their own theories regarding the reasons behind the removal of so many items.
My theory position is that they had no alternative but to eliminate a significant number of the assets that were subject to the royalty agreement established by one of the original founders who departed from the company.
Additionally, I believe that they were compelled to advance the game to gold "1.0" for many of the same reasons, despite the widespread understanding that it remains in an experimental phase.
What ever the reason so many assests where removed we can only speculate or assume why it happend since there really has not been a good enough explaination about it by them.

Mmm that is an interesting possibility. I do vaguely recall some kind of legal issue a few years back with a former employee but it's absolutely faded in my memory now.

I'm pretty sure the game going 1.0 was pretty much just because TFP probably wasn't going to get away with convincing sony or xbox that they should get a second chance at early access after the first version...went poorly. Obviously it was mostly out of TFP's hands with telltale tanking but I can see why TFP may have had to find a work around to convince sony or xbox that it wasn't gonna happen again.

Also they removed the 'Well Insulated Perk' from Fortitude as well, and no mention of why its gone or if its ever coming back.

They removed that when temperature was removed and while it was gone revamped the perks adding the mastery perks and shuffling some to the general category. Now that temperature is back they may or may not bring back the well-insulated perk depending on balance and the new landscape of the perks.

No i would have protested that simplification...in the same way I think the current system is a simplification...because they'd be the same system but with a new item to pick up that you can't even see on your character anyway. My point is though that temperature could have just been done as I just suggested and it'd be in largely the same state as it is now but WITHOUT the two years of being missing. Sure they've made improvements to the temp system like block buffs and some changes to the exact effects of the temps but none of that necessitates the removal of the feature like it was some damaged car part. We can see the XML and source code from both versions you know? it's not a revolution.

Here you say that what they have now for temperature system is rather trivial, but in reality it took months for it to appear in the game after the ■■■■storm, right? So whatever takes a modder 10 minutes does take them (for whatever reasons) a lot more time.
So we can assume that that temporary temperature system would have taken them (with testing, balancing, ...) a lot more time than your modder as well.

And would have been greeted with protests for downgrading instead of protests for removing. So their choice was for the thing that took much less time for the same protests. Maybe a controversial but logical choice.

I'm not stamping him as a liar. I am literally asking him to show us the proof because I don't know what he's referring to.

Since the old forum is gone (and with it all the comments) he is as likely to show those comments exist as you can show they didn't. And if they ever mentioned their temperature plans in video, good luck searching for those comments.

Even when you mistrust Rolands word completely, your own fact finding of "never witnessed it mentioned" is not at all conclusive. It is an indication to maybe doubt words to the contrary, but you really can't state that as fact unless proven otherwise.

There was a mod that came out a few months after 1.0 that re implemented temperature survival. The mod is 36 kilobytes and it modifies 2 XML files for a total of about 100 lines of XML. The vast majority of which were just modifying the temperature effects of the existing 64 armor pieces.
When I tell you it could have been done in 10 minutes. I mean it could have been done. VERY. VERY. Easily.

Anyway I'm not even sure what point we're trying to move toward here. Like what is it you're trying to get me to understand here?

That you are putting up guesses as facts.

You can't take a "modder" that thinks that a game is coded in xml seriously. Nuff said.

I disagree with that assessment tbh. If I were making like a video intended to inform I certainly wouldn't say what I did without any evidence but inter-personally in this conversation I'm telling you that.

1. I don't remember or have any evidence of them addressing it.
2. Nobody has provided any evidence of them addressing it.

I am left to conclude that they did not. Now I'm hearing reports from you and roland that they did which is at least evidence that my understanding of the situation isn't concrete but I still don't see any evidence that contradicts what I remember.

I'm not sure why you think I think that. I made explicit reference to the source code earlier. Also I did reference an XML-only mod that actually did re-enable temperature mechanics after 1.0. So I'm not sure what you're getting at. I've literally done scripting for 7dtd using C# so I genuinely don't know what I would have said to suggest I think the game is created in a markup language...which isn't how games work.

Regardless a huge amount of the work for 2.5 and even 3.0 is actually just XML. In fact there's a mod out right now that adds a huge amount of toggles like 3.0 is going to but i haven't actually checked if it's 100% xml yet.

I think that because you have NOT looked into the changes of the C# temperature code that uses the xml input. Your 10 minutes is moot if you look at the code behind that xml usage. Thus i confirm you are a narcesistic person who believes he is a god modder/game designer bashing TFP for not doing thing the way you would, without the proper knowledge to even do so. Now..explode. :D

What timeframe? What items? What assets? They hired new artists to overhaul the world and all the decorations, inventory item art, entity models, and added hundreds of block shapes and POIs. What did you see completely disappear?

Your theory is wrong. No assets in the game belonged to any employee.

Iz seems to be correct here though, the changes he proposes could and likely would have been done in XML only. Though I can't be sure as well, I didn't really look at that specific code. Just guessing
Look at the old temperature code being gone and replaced with new code and come back. Please.

Ragebait doesn't work if you TELL me you're ragebaiting me that's no fun.
Ah, so you didn't look at the code and are grasping. Perfectly clear. Carry on.

I think Adam the Waster said as well he remembers !?

As I said, the forum was replaced some time ago. Old posts of Madmole or Faatal, or Roland when he was the community spokesman, are gone (and even if they were still here I don't have the time to search for them, sorry). In absence of a paper trail courts tend to rely on witnesses as evidence, right? ;)

That's not what we're referring to though? We're talking about the changes I said they COULD have done rather than removing the feature for 2 years. Which WOULD have been XML only.

I guess that's just how it has to be 🤷‍♂️ If people say they remember, then fair enough.

People forget that, since the game is still in development, ideas can change, devs could have change their mind on a certain feature that turned out as not working as well as they imagined it would, so it's back to the drawing board to make things better.

Example: In early talks, a wolf might have been an option as a companion and you could maybe add some pocket mods so that it can carry your stuff... It turned into the drone, who can carry your stuff and heal you and follow you around.

The game is in development, so even if someone might have said this or that in the pass, it means absolutely nothing as new ideas probably came up or they changed that certain feature into something very different than what they first mentioned some years ago.
The argument of "well Madmole (or anyone else) said this many years ago" is not worth much; he said that then and he's saying this now.

As most people I'm sure, I live in the Now and not in the Pass, so lets just wait and see what 7 Days to Die brings to us in the Future.

We were specifically talking about the reason(s) temperature was removed a few years ago and if "temporary removal" was told to us. FOR THAT question it is absolutely necessary to look at what was said by them a few years ago and not at all what is said now.

Now, whether they would actually have added temperature again if they weren't prodded, that is a different question and the answer we will never know

Yes sorry, I quoted you but meant the recent talks in general. Quoting you was a mistake as I was giving my general opinion on all the recent posts and not just that specific subject. I corrected this already.

I for one visit this thread specifically for news on the 2.6 release.
I should not have to peruse 4 pages of off topic back and forth.
That said, is there any news on the 2.6 stable release?
13 days ago, it was said that 2.6 Stable was close to being released, but it seems they decided to add more fixes, which can only be a good thing, right? So that could mean a new Experimental release before Stable, maybe... Or Stable could be released today... Who the hell knows anymore?!?
