PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Now that's some super useful info! I don't like desert and snow bordering each other either. Gonna have to try that out later!
Just be aware that this will not change the order in which you progress with traders. For example, if you set it so that the snow is the second in line, when you finish with Rekt, you'll have to travel through the snow to get to the burnt where Jen is. Which means if you have biome progression turned on, it might be a difficult journey.

@faatal Adding onto the new feature of the swarms spawning on occasion after stumps are harvested, would there be any chance for you guys to add a proper "bee swarm" that would spawn instead of the flies that the plague spitter releases?

It could have multiple uses, such as having bees swarming around stumps with unique hive models. Just a thought, not sure if it would be worth the time and resources though.
Yeah Pimps.....bring the giant bee back too!! Those were kinda creepy in their own right.

Pretty much 2.0 is giving us the new zombie stage types, some RWG improvements, and some better performance.

These are good things

However the entire Biome Progression and Storm systems, these are zero's and add nothing into the game. I've played it now and watch numerous streams- the entire system is a half baked idea and I will once again look to the modding community to fix what is wrong with the game. For now, I am just going to turn these off.

Generally it's an okayish patch I suppose, but we waited an entire year for this. A little disappointed in the end.

I was not asking you anything. I was discussing how the game works now and you seemed to start talking about how you want it to work, which I am not interested in at this moment as we are trying to get stable out.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification.

I think what he said was intended to be kind of rhetorical or eye roll or whatever. He was pointing out that there isn't any temperature in the game now, so having campfires keep you warm doesn't make sense. Considering they said they may bring temperature back in the future, that could possibly change.

So it seems. He originally responded to a suggestion and I must have missed the change. No biggie.

The 2.0 performance changes are so good. I've got a 4090 so I typically didn't have performance issues anyway, but it seems like it runs tremendously better still. The zombie spawners seem to help too, since there aren't 45 zombies trying to mob you down at once in higher stage PoI

However the entire Biome Progression and Storm systems, these are zero's and add nothing into the game.
For you. I like them and am currently playing with 200% storms. I have read of plenty of people who like them. Not every feature is for you and if you read the stable release notes you will see plenty of changes that have nothing to do with biome hazards or storms.

When No Man's Sky released a fishing update, I did not care because I don't want to fish, but I just moved on and played the parts of the game I like.

I been enjoying both the biome progression changes and the storms. I like that a storm can roll in just before I leave my main base and forces me to change my plans until it passes through. It’s the unpredictability of when they come around and the need to have a backup plan for when they do.

The only thing I didn’t like was re-adding the biome loot stage bonuses after experimental first dropped, but I was able to mod them back out again.

You typed that with the biggest, smuggest smirk ever didn't you
Sure. I knew it, but could not say anything.

We have been planning an early release for about a week, but we did not know if we would find a show stopper bug or that console approvals would be finished by today. Last night some of the PS5 builds failed, but it was some odd issue with the build server.
