Do you think theres not enough wild zombies roaming in the world?

Looking back at the older version of the game, theres not nearly as many zombies roaming in the wild as realisticly there should be. Towns nearly have nothing roaming around. The only biome that has a nice amount and variety Is the wasteland'.imo

Back then you saw tons
Alpha 15 you saw alot as well..

But now it's kinda barron..same for wildlife

I think it's a balance. If you have a lot of them then you run into performance issues and difficulty issues when starting out your quests in towns. I would love to see an option in the settings for zombie count (Low/Default/High) where the number of spawns in the world could be adjusted easier.

Actually Alpha 15 was after the decline. Go back to Alpha 11 or 12 and you will see a decent population.

Playing 2.0 it does feel a lot better, and though not quite there, it is close to a15 numbers.

I'll still be running Khaine's increased city spawns, with my own increase for wilderness, and Improved Hordes as soon as it is available though.

If you are on PC; go to \Data\Config\spawning.xml and add a zero to the end of most entries (Example: <spawn id="dz02" maxcount="2" change to "20") I would recommend not changing animal spawns or biome specific (Example: ZombiesBurntForest or ZombiesDesert); changing those will plague the world with Plague Spitters and Frost claws. There are a lot of mods that do this but it appears the syntax was changed on spawning.xml for 2.0. I prefer a lot more zombies rather than the traditon of changing it to insane nightmare mode when you start to get bored.

On the console version of 7dtd.

Out in the wild you could encounter like 6 zombies at once.

Towns in nazezgane had tons not including the zombies that spawned outside of pois (I think they should do that again but sleeper versions. Plus

Unfortunately I am not but I do wish fbsfs was a setting for it like the old days

Back then there was a spawn setting. I've always put it on Max and I had to deal.with mini hordes.

Perhaps there could be ways to increase zombie amounts without killing performance. Like sleepers outside of pois, a normal Zombie that acts like a poor man's Screamer, etc

I don't like complaining without suggestions

There is an an alternate way. Copy the first spawn line like this
<spawn id="dz01" maxcount="1" respawndelay="2.9" time="Day" entitygroup="ZombiesAll" notags="commercial,industrial,downtown" />
paste it 2 extra times and change it like this
<spawn id="dz01" maxcount="2" respawndelay="0.00278" time="Day" TotalAlive="2" entitygroup="ZombiesAll" /> Regens 10 seconds Real
<spawn id="dz0a" maxcount="3" respawndelay="0.00834" time="Day" TotalAlive="3" entitygroup="ZombiesAll" /> Regens 30 seconds real
<spawn id="dz0b" maxcount="5" respawndelay=".0167" time="Day" TotalAlive="5" entitygroup="ZombiesAll" /> Regens 1 minute real

This makes it a consistent presence, vs kill a bunch and then no respawn for approx 2.9 days

I need this in my life

i think it would be nice if the wilderness had less and the towns had more but i am too new to be any sort of authority on if that would be balanced or not

Performance issues aside, there should be more in city and less in the wild.

Although the wild should more wandering hordes. If that makes sense.

The desert biome, at least, seems to have a much higher density and respawn rate of biome zombies than in the past. Lots of these are also the new plague spitter. They are all over the place with their sometimes on sometimes off slightly malfunctioning cloaking device....

I feel like we could have a lot more zombies active if the AI was dumbed down sufficiently, to well, act like zombies. I'm not a fan of the current architect zombies that have a complex understanding of building stability, I think that could provide a little too much overhead for a CPU.

I'd be curious to see how much that would make a difference on game performance. The only question is if someone has made a mod for it yet.

It does make sense but in terms of gameplay.

I'm on Xbox Series X and I can Handle up to 10 zombies before I get even a hint of a frame drop. For older PCs that could be a problem. Or the Serires S but at least make it a setting for those that can handle it or want it

Exactly 💯 just have something like this

Obviously we play for different reasons. :)
And those are? I'm not judging just curious

Mostly building. I used to really like trying to come up with horde bases, but the fact that the zombies are so easily able to be manipulated makes that not particularly fun any longer.

Honestly, I don't really care that this is a zombie game. The enemies could be anything and I'd enjoy it the same as I have in the past and do now. I came for the building and tower defense aspects.

And that's respectable that's why I suggest for a spawn % setting so people who just wanna build can do that.

If the devs can make storms changeable in-game setting then zombie spawns can too imo

Not so much focused on the number of Zeds in the wild, I would like to see at least 1 Zed introduced that's utterly fearsome.
Right now I can't really say I'm too terrified when facing off against any of the Zeds in game. Once I get a decent Sniper Rifle and SMG, I routinely take out Dire Wolves and radiated Wights.

Would love to Face a Zed that strikes fear in your heart even in late game. One where once you hear the unique sound they make you start planning your exit from the area. Or maybe one so fast it could easily catch you on a bicycle 🚲 but your only chance of escape is having a motorcycle 🏍.
