Not really, much of the slowness is due to it using a lot of system resources for the render. I find that it's pretty speedy if I just let it sit till it has populated all of the POIs, then zoom out. 

I love the Santa Hat so much that Dough made me a mod on request to be able to craft them. LOL But that was a seasonal need, so I'm over that until sometime in November. I also use the candy cane club and knife when I find them. Again, when seasonably appropriate. :D
