Zombie Alert Sandbox Setting?

Hey, now that sandbox settings have been implemented (awesome change), i would like to add one additional, zombie alert.

I often have the game on mute as I have videos/movies/etc playing on another screen which means that I dont know when enemies are coming up behind me. I also have some deaf friends who are tentative to play the game exactly cause of this too.

I almost always install a zombie Alert mod but they're harder and harder to find and would love this to be vanilla. Just some type of on screen icon/compass icon to Alert me when an enemy (both zombie and animal) is close or has recognized me and is coming.

This would make it so much easier to not be caught off guard and also become more accessible to the deaf/HoH community.

yeeeeeaaaah i have intermittent sound parsing issues and this game has gotten me a few times because of sound issues. i can see why your deaf friends would be nervous. this game is suuuuuper unfair when you dont have proper sound cues

i know it probably would not help people with sight restrictions but a small flickering dot in the corner closest to the zombie's location would do sooooooo much to help especially if its flicker speed corresponded to the closeness of the zombie.

This topic inspired me to think a little deeper. Depending on how imaginative
the person is that could or would create it. They could turn all of the audio queues
into on screen, narratives that could be turned on or off. Similar to the way the eye
would open and close until A17, and show sensed and hunted.

But instead it could have revolving screen pop ups. Like You hear heavy footsteps
approaching from behind. There was a strange thump in the closet. Maybe you should
try again later. Check those corners. Ewww doggie breath. Or along those lines. and use
a sort of creepy fade in font. RUN Forrest RUN!!!

or go really old school, and have something like the pointer from the 7th guest or the
11th hour just to give it some atmosphere.

Like those if randomized, the choices are nearly infinite. and if they are made to be editable
then any sound can have a personalized splash queue/

All you gotta do is crouch down to see if a zombie notices you or coming after you.

That's not really a good solution. You aren't going to do everything crouched unless you're purposely playing stealth. And unless you are always crouched, you won't get any indication. It might work, but it's not a good option for someone not playing stealth. There's nothing wrong with adding accessibility options for those who need them.

I do it all the time, even when i'm not playing stealth, while listening to Lewis Black or Jim Gaffigan on Spotify when I can't hear my surroundings in game. Especially when I hear a sound in the game I don't recognize, i'll crouch down to see if I was noticed or if a zombie is coming in from somewhere, it's a godsend tool to have.
