TFP shipped the sign fix today in V3.0.1 Experimental: patch notes — the headline fix is the exact ArgumentNullException / Sign-Tech bug this thread is about.
We've already updated our server to 3.0.1 and tested it: no more console popups on join. The fix is additional hardening of the sign rendering paths. It's a real fix, not a band-aid.

i personally want to thank all the people who reported the bug, TFP Q and A, for pushing this bug through, was a real game breaker for alot of people, glad to see it fixed.

I haven't updated the server however yesterday, an admin mentioned their 7d2d had a briefclient update when logging in and since then no console error despite no update to server. What is happening now and not sure if it may be ST related, is the bicycle that was part of a starting inventory, keeps disappearing even as it's being ridden and one Trader Rekt looks pretty wrecked and no longer completing players quests. Did you update your server ingame or start over?

steam often does shader-updates as well. Instead of everyone guessing what that update was about and speculating wildy you should ask that admin exactly what version his client has now, which version his server has now. No guessing or assuming please, he should look at the version number on screen for the client and into the log for his server.

Bonus points for checking errors in his client and server logs.

So many bugs and the report a bug button form you all have requires so much information, most of which I (and the average player) don’t know how to provide the info to submit.

Some examples:
We have 4 hour days, giving us blood moons from 2pm to 10am(the next day—20 hours total). Not sure if it matters that we switched day time from “always night” to 4 days. Under “always night”, it behaved normally, 10pm-4am blood moon.

We have “no blood moon warning” turned on, but it’s *still* giving us thunder and red skies, prior to a blood moon start. In fact, for our 4 hour days, it makes the entire sky red and dry lightening, for the entire 4 hours, so it’s very obvious when a blood moon is coming.

When plants are in their growing stage, at 200% seed return settings, if you hit the crop in their growing stage, it gives you back double seeds. It should only be one until the crop is fully grown. W observed this with corn plants.

I’m sure you’re working on fixing the headshot multiplier, even in first person, these zombies are hitting players at 300% in the head, instant killing players on a permadeath server. One of our players added a video to a bug report that was always made about it, @WretchedDollie responded to it, and was awesome to see you all have a ticket on it already!

The headshot finisher is applying to snakes, and vultures, that’s definitely a bug—but if it’s not, a setting to turn headshot finisher off for animals would squash what many of us consider a bug.

if all of these bugs are being worked on for a future update, our 50 some odd players in our community would be so happy. We’ve had to change settings because some of these new awesome settings are kinda broken in the ways I outlined above.

our new seed starts today, 3.0 map on 3.01, ill keep an eye out for that issue if it occurs and will let you know, but it sounds like his client updated to the new version and game is still on stable, like the moderator suggested have him verify his client and server is on the same version.

Your exactly right about bugs, Things like this is why ive been suggesting people refrain from requesting more sandbox options untill the current bugs are fixed, there is alot of bugs the sandbox code has brought with it that simply didnt exist in 2.6

Please. -I'm quite interested in the headshot finisher mode for thematic reasons, but the tiny targets on the snakes and vultures are wildly infuriating.

Yes please! I almost got murdered by a pack of snakes because it's nearly impossible to hit their heads when they're wiggling around. Living snakes die when their organs are turned into a little meaty chunks, guys!

if the client updated to the experimental, the server would be greyed out in steam list.

so far we havn't had any one on our server notice the issue he had, how long has it been since he has done maintenance?
7 Days to Die Maintenance: Clean Game Files + Verify Integrity
Step 1: Make sure the Game Launcher opens

If you do not see the Game Launcher after clicking Play, you need to enable it first.

Right-click 7 Days to Die in your Steam Library.
Select Properties.
Under the General tab, find Launch Options.
Set it to Show Game Launcher.
Close the Properties window and start the game again.

The Game Launcher should now appear when you click Play.

Step 2: Clean game files
Start the game from your Steam Library.
Select Show Game Launcher.
Click the Tools tab.
Click Clean Game Files.
Check the circles/options you want to clean.
Be careful with anything related to saves, maps, generated worlds, or player profiles if you do not want to lose personal data.
Click Clean.
Step 3: Verify game file integrity

After cleaning game files, verify the game through Steam:

Right-click 7 Days to Die in your Steam Library.
Select Properties.
Click Installed Files.
Click Verify integrity of game files.
Wait for Steam to finish checking and downloading any missing files.

After this is complete, restart the game normally.

if the client updated to the experimental, the server would be greyed out in steam list.

But what would happen if TFP made a mistake and either didn't update the version number or missed to deliver the new third digit of the version number to steam so steam thinks this is the same version?
When we don't know where the bug is it makes sense to check even basic assumptions if they can be easily checked.
