V3.0.0 b259 EXP Update

I don’t wrench mines myself. I only help others to do so. The resources gained are just too good for me and it’s like using the creative menu. But I do recommend it for others.
wait, wait, you can wrench mines??????? i have but my greasy mitts on so many things and never once did it occur to me i wouldnt get blown to smithereens if i tried. please tell me this is not just a joke to convince people to blow themselves up

Since 3.0 my hotkeys don't work as they used to. I often press keys and nothing happens or it only happens after a very short delay. Changing weapons often doesn't work, pressing tab to get in or out of the crafting menu often doesn't respond and so on. It's very annoying as I used to be able to quickly do all my stuff with hotkeys. Now I'm often pressing the next hotkey but as the previous one didn't work I'm in the wrong menu and the hotkey does some wrong stuff.
Is that a known issue or am I alone with that? That has never been something prior to 3.0 for me.

Also:
- Loot drops don't show on my map as I have disabled that. So sometimes I find a loot drop only after a few days. What is annoying that sometimes they produce smoke, sometimes they don't and if you come too close to the loot drop the smoke disappears. I have never understood that game mechanic which isn't something that has changed with 3.0 but it has always made finding loot drops harder than needed. Why can't the orange smoke always be visible as soon as you are close enough to it?

- I get hit out of nowhere more than ever with 3.0. Zombies are stumbling after I hit them and with 3.0 they are able to hit me back while stumbling without any hit animation. Especially with the fat zombies (what are they called? tourist? bowler?) it's particularly worse for me. I always play with permadeath and I have died numerous times now due to that. Sucks. Not talking about zombies being able to still hit through walls, doors, ceilings... which also ended my savegame yesterday on horde night. Very frustrating.

Much of what you describe sounds like a CPU bottleneck.
Try running a steamcmd dedicated server and joining it instead of playing single player.
This allows the OS to better spread the load across multiple cores.

...But you aren't willing to comment on sandbox settings? So why did you post at all? Or was that an AI post as I expected and you didn't even read it to know what was written before posting it?...
While I understand the animosity toward Grandpa (due to his past inflammotory posts in this forum), I think the focus should instead be on the subject of his posts not the way he presents himself.

ALL of the concerns he has mentioned recently are VALID concerns, regardless of whether you like him or not.

As a fellow server owner, I have seen and dealt with many of the same issues.

As far as his posts being AI generated, have you ever considered that maybe just maybe the entire world does NOT speak English natively?

Cut the guy some slack FFS, read the message don't kill the messenger.

This is directed at not only Riamus, but others who let their personal distaste for Grandpa get the better of themselves.

I don't much like him either, and will NEVER play on his servers, but that doesn't mean he hasn't brought up valid issues in the current game.

@meganoth :

You are a mod FFS, it's not experimental anymore...are you daft?

What has me being a mod to do with me not noticing or forgetting a stable is out, after all it was a relatively subdued quiet release? I am not a TFP employee, I don't speak for them, 7D2D is not my life's center point.

It would have been so easy to just politely correct me. And in that case I would have politely said thank you for the correction and sorry for the mistake.

You're right. Please accept my apologies.

I did. And my question still stands about whether most of the issues he faces is rooted in running 50 slot servers. That is a valid question especially since bug reports are supposed to be made while running vanilla and a 50 person game of 7 Days to Die has 42 toppings poured on top of that vanilla.

I have nothing against getting such things fixed to a point that a 50-slot server could run stably but not at the expense of halting all further development on new options or bandits until it’s done which is what Grandpa is calling for.

To clarify, this is not only about 50-slot servers.

A 50-player server may expose problems faster, but it does not automatically make every issue invalid. The concern is that this release has an unusually high number of major problems compared with prior releases I have administered.

I am not asking for future content to be cancelled. I am asking for stabilization to take priority before more content is introduced. Fix the broken systems first, then expand.

how about you start here with the basics, hmmm 50% of people boy that sure sounds like a lot of people, https://community.thefunpimps.com/t...erver-cant-get-jobs-quests.48059/#post-642276
Sounds like 4 people to me if the server is adhering to the max supported player count. If 50% really is a lot of people then the problem may very well be a side effect of going beyond what is supported. >shrug<

My group is 3 of us on a server and we’ve never once experienced a bug where we could only do quests started by an ally but not be able to initiate one ourselves.

And in no way did I dismiss those issues. He responded to my question about his original post that specifically stated that no more *sandbox settings* should be added until problems with *sandbox settings* were fixed. He did not explain what settings were broken but just gave a very generic post that is typical of his posts that provided no useful information. When I asked him for specific information, he gave a list of various server problems that have nothing to do with sandbox settings and most of which (perhaps all) were from before 3.0 and any sandbox settings were even added. When I asked again for what specific sandbox settings problems he was referring to, he then said he didn't want to discuss sandbox settings even though he was the one who brought it up in the first place.

So, yes... he deserved the response he got. If he can't state any specific issues with sandbox settings that need fixed before other sandbox settings are added (his words, paraphrased), then he shouldn't bother posting a generic post that is basically and entitled post of "I don't want you to add something I don't care about because I want you to focus on PVP stuff." In the end, that's what his original post was.

As far as giving him some slack, I've done so... repeatedly. His response has been to switch up the conversation to something else to avoid any questions that he doesn't want to answer. Or he'll just ignore the questions altogether. If it doesn't support his claims of millions of PVP players, he doesn't want to talk about it. But he'll find any way possible to try to derail or distract conversations into his request for PVP changes and fixes. After years of this, I'm sorry, but he gets what he gets.

I don't have a problem with them fixing server problems for the officially supported 1-8 players when playing PVE at all. I don't have a problem with them fixing PVP problems, so long as it doesn't negatively impact PVE, which is the main focus of this game per the devs. I don't have any problem with them fixing server problems related to going over the official 8 player maximum, so long as that doesn't negatively impact PVE *and* doesn't slow down development since being over 8 players is not officially supported and time spent fixing things related to that shouldn't impact development for the number of officially supported players. But he specifically said multiple times that they shouldn't add more sandbox settings in the 3.x series, which is specifically about sandbox settings, until his list of requests is resolved. That's not okay.

how about you start here with the basics, hmmm 50% of people boy that sure sounds like a lot of people, https://community.thefunpimps.com/t...erver-cant-get-jobs-quests.48059/#post-642276
How about you start with reading what I have repeatedly asked, and what you yourself posted (and that I quoted)? That link has nothing to do with sandbox settings. And specifically states it was happening before 3.0, so nothing to do with 3.0 or sandbox settings at all. *YOU* said that there are problems with sandbox settings and have yet to state what those specific problems are. If you've made bug reports about those specific problems, then fine. But you posted it here and said to not do any further sandbox settings until the current problems with sandbox settings were fixed. If you don't know of any problems related to sandbox settings, then your original post was entirely invalid.

So, I'll ask again before assuming you're just trolling for PVP fixes with fake posts about other issues.... You specifically stated there were multiple issues with sandbox settings and implied they were serious enough to warrant not adding more sandbox settings until they were fixed. What are those serious sandbox settings bugs that need fixed? Specifically. Or aren't there any? Yes, there are minor bugs with sandbox settings and some have already been fixed. However, minor bugs aren't enough to warrant not adding more settings. And they fix minor bugs with every update, whether for sandbox settings or other things. Any more serious bugs with sandbox settings were already fixed or have been stated are in the process of being fixed, so aren't in any way going to be affected by them adding more sandbox settings. So that's not a valid reason for your "official" post, as you called it.

user error lol, i suppose, that would mean these two trader quests reports where user error to, hmmmm...
https://community.thefunpimps.com/t...yer-progression.47680/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

The first one you linked is a legitimate bug, if you set quests per tier in sandbox alone, it does not function as intended. However I did find that also setting it in xml resolves the issue, although I never tried with MORE than 10 quests, with limited play time I usually set it lower, currently 7.

not sure about the second one, seems like it was easily resolved at least...

Fair enough.

@Grandpa Minion can you give ANY specific examples from YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE with sandbox settings, rather than rely on some dusty links that ChatGPT found for you that really don't support your position?

And that's an honest question, I'm not criticizing you.
