Steam Sale

We just had the Steam Summer Sale going and I of course could not help myself and bought 8 new games to add to my collection. So I now have 287 games in my library total. Only 188 I will play, the others I played already or were just part of a bundle deal of games I did not really want.

So, how many games are in your library, thanks to Steam sales?

I know this is off topic but I really do not have a lot of forums I post in, so I'm sorry about that.

In all of that, If there were no Steam I would not have bought 7 Days to Die back in 2016. So that's is cool anyway. To be honest Steam and GOG really are very cool for PC gamers, as now there is no need to buy retail boxed games at Amazon or at GameStop. And with Steam you get the games instantly and also on Steam or GOG you can get some games for less than a Big Mac

I've been a Humble Bundle subscriber for years.... so I have almost 600 games in my library. The vast majority I'll probably never play. I keep telling myself to cancel the subscription, but games keep popping up that I want so I keep it active.

I have way too many games myself, including, Retail Boxed, GOG, Steam, GamersGate and Retro Games galore. They call us: Data Hoarders. There is no way I could play all the games I have collected, but at least we have quite a selection to choose from. When I was gaming in the late 90s to about 2010, I used to wish they would make more games that I like, and I used to wait patiently for a good game to come out. No need to wait around for a game anymore, with all the game I have collected, I will always have at least one to enjoy.

419 games here, I tend to buy them in bundles so a lot of them I end up not playing. I will steam would give you a number of games played vs games bought

You can get that data by using steamdb.... and lots of other data. Its a fun way to explore your account.

515 on Steam, 173 on GOG, 212 on Epic Games, 57 on Amazon Games, plus some on Battle.Net and EA and Ubisoft. That doesn't include all my games I have on disk.

Many of these come from free stuff (everything on Epic was free) or as parts of bundles from Humble Bundle. I've played probably a third or so of them.

Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one that cannot help getting a game on a Steam or GOG sale, even when I have a ridiculous amount of games already.

I bought a handful of games on a steam summer sale ages ago that I never ended up playing. Since then I changed my behavior, setting up a system that creates a cognitive barrier to entry. Dramatically reduced my game purchases over all, summer sale or no.

Instead of shopping the sale this year, I started a family share group with my son and two sons-in-law. New games galore!!!
Point taken. But for us single, middle aged, bored and lonely guys, there is a lot of worse things we could spend our money on.

Reading this is a little like therapy. I'm sitting on like 220 games, half unplayed or less than 5 minutes in it. .. sale's still going I'll probably have 2-5 more by the time it's over.. with any luck, I'll play 1, some day.

Oh, there are definitely much worse ways I could spend my money. I'm not some wise frugal son of a ■■■■■ over here. Just writing about my experience because I caught myself spending personal entertainment money on things that I was getting 0 entertainment out of. :)

I've only got 218 games on Steam, but I kinda got over the whole "buy everything on sale!" thing about a decade ago. I might buy one game before it's over, but I'm not even sure of that.
