The problem persists through death; the object is not dropped from inventory even when everything else is. Cannot remove, cannot delete. Wasn't paying enough attention to know where I picked it up, but it is worth noting that I'm playing with friends and we did share multiple quests before returning to the trader so that may have something to do with how the issue played out.

It will remain in inventory until you turn in the quest it is associated with. If it got bugged, it usually removes itself when you restart the game if you don't still have a quest for it.

I have dropped all quests and the game, both server and client, has been restarted twice. Problem remains.

I seem to remember it being possible to drop that into the creative menu in an empty space to remove it, but I haven't tried in a really long time.
