"Headshot Multiplier" in sandbox options also allows zombies to do bonus damage to player

Zombies sometimes do much more damage to you than they should if you have the "Headshot Multiplier" option enabled.

I've tested this only with the Zombie Damage (not the 'all incoming damage' setting, just 'zombie damage to the player') setting at 300%.

There also seems to be a noise played when they get this 'crit' on you. I've attached a video of a vulture hitting me once, and doing like 11 damage, and then apparently getting a crit/headshot on me and doing about double that. There's a sound effect that is played when this happens. I'm not sure if it was because I was wearing primitive armor, or because it's a sound when a crit/headshot is landed.

Headshot Multiplier setting was 200% here. Check link to Youtube video (video is 6 seconds long).

Settings code, in case this helps:

Reproduction Steps
In sandbox settings, have "Headshot Multiplier" setting at higher than 100% (200% works). Let zombies hit you a few times and note damage taken.

Hello,

Based on our testing, the enemy damage values appear to be functioning as intended. Without a video showing the settings used and the amount of damage you are receiving, we are unable to determine what may be occurring in your game.

We investigated this report using the provided sandbox code and were unable to reproduce the issue as described. The damage settings were the same regardless of the headshot multiplier settings.

One thing to keep in mind is that Enemy Damage Dealt in the sandbox settings is designed to stack with other sources of damage the player can receive. As noted in the tooltip: "Controls how much damage enemies do to players. This stacks with other incoming damage players receive."

I am unsure what you mean by a sound played when you received the critical damage. If you would like to fill out a separate report for that, we can take a further look. A longer video with the sound and crit may be helpful with that one.

Best,
Dollie

Hi, Dollie.

I've created a new video that should show, definitively, the bug taking place. When I'm standing up straight, and the zombie hits me in the body, I take the normal 10 damage (settings were 100% damage taken, so default). When I crouch, and the zombie hits me in the head, I take 30, or 300% damage. Headshot Multiplier setting is 300% here, which results in the extra damage taken when hit by the zombies in the head.

Do I need to re-create this report, or will this addition to the original suffice?

Thank you for all you do!

Hello plzkthxbye,

Thank you for the video. I figured out that the issue is related to being in third person, of all things. When I was testing, I didn't see the issue in first person. After seeing your video, I doubled checked the issue and it only replicates when your player character is in third person mode. I believe it may be due to a separate controller related to that mode.

Appreciate you coming back with the video as it did offer additional insight.

Cheers,
Dollie
