PC V3.0 Dead Hot Summer Dev Diary

I assume that it has already been submitted somewhere, but I’ve been looking forward to having to finish zombies with a headshot. Unfortunately, the setting also makes it so you have to finish everything that isn’t a zombie human with a headshot, ex: snakes, deer, chicken, etc. Where would I submit this as an issue? Thanks!

I got another request if possible and sorry if someone else has already suggested this if so ignore this. Thanks

So the Miscellaneous settings- the options that are from the twitch integration. Would it be possible to have those options as a quick turn on and off if you are the server host or server owner/admin in the pause menu option page. Like it be nice to play with tiny zombies for a few but it sucks to have to tell everyone server is rebooting gotta find a safe place to log out just to turn it off or on.

You don't realize how thankful I am for something so simple!!(y)🤝 After properly testing it though. I gain 2-7 FPS (uncapped FPS) with my setup. Even in wasteland with LODbias at 5 looking inside a skyscraper. Maybe for weaker PCs/consoles it does better but in our case (we lock FPS to 55 for lossless scaling) it does next to nothing except frustrate us we couldn't see through the glass.

@faatal is there a setting that will control POI sleeper respawn? Enemy Respawn only mentions biome respawning. I like to play with no loot respawn, and cleared POIs stay empty. The last I knew, disabling loot respawn would cause sleepers to respawn after a default 7 days or something, so what I have done for a long time is set loot respawn to a high value like 150 days, which essentially stops both POI loot and zombies respawning. It looks like this will now be limited to 50 days.
There is no option currently for a separate sleeper respawn delay. It matches the loot respawn, except when off it uses 30 days.
I made a change so it will now be off, if loot off.

"Changed: Sleeper volumes to never respawn instead of at 30 days if loot respawn is set to never".

We could add an option for it separately, but that would be up to Lathan.

Excellent! Thank you.

Weapon modifications are too powerful. If I have Skull Crusher level 4, which gives me 50% reduced stamina consumption for heavy attacks and 25% for light attacks, then adding an ergonomic grip level 5, which gives another 50% stamina reduction, results in heavy attacks not consuming any stamina at all, no matter which hammer I use. Only light attacks still consume stamina.

As I already said, use the client to look at the code. There are no plans for any other method.
Thank you for clarifying that the client is currently the only supported way to inspect the SandboxCode.

My concern is less about the answer itself and more about how discoverable that limitation is for dedicated-server owners. The phrase “as I already said” makes it sound as though this was clearly communicated and broadly understood, but that has not been my experience. For hosting providers, administrators, and server-side mod developers, there is no obvious supported method to verify the individual effective settings after the code is loaded.

A server can show that the SandboxCode property was accepted, but that is not the same as being able to confirm which settings are actually active. Requiring access to a client for verification is also difficult for automated hosting, troubleshooting, and configuration auditing.

I appreciate the direct answer. I would only ask that this limitation be documented more clearly, and that server-side inspection or a supported read-only command be considered in the future.

Cant wait to get my hands on the new settings and start trying things out. First thing i have to test is density and respawn on insane nightmare feral sense. Will it even be possible to play with everything maxed?

I have found the answer to my question and no, no it is not. Four bikers not only hammering on the traders walls but stacking up and getting over said walls. There must be 30 zombies outside the walls right now.

First preset is a fail, but feel free to prove me wrong.

I have some ideas for sandbox options that aren’t in the game, but I could be wrong there are quite a few of them:
  1. Critical injury frequency.
  2. Option to disable zombie crouch.
  3. In 2.0, zombies gained the ability to attack players standing on a 2 block high platform. I actually like this change, but not everyone did. It could be made optional, maybe as a "zombie attack range" or something similar.
