loosing bases and servers after new updates

not sure if im the only one who gets annoyed with this, but all that hard work u put into your base and stats and pride u did to what you've earned all lost to new updates just to have to restart from scratch. where is the option to continue with he new updates with what was built. i kinda lost may will to play anymore having to restart again

The reason we have to begin a new save after every major (and sometimes minor) update is because of the changes made making each one incompatible with each other. TFP have tried to prevent this, but it's quite difficult because code is code and nothing can be guaranteed to work nicely. However, for 3.0, you can keep your 2.x save (maybe even older) when updating. The only caveat to this is you won't get the full 3.0 experience.

I don't mind a refresh every now and then. Guess it's just all the time and effort and pride put into a base that u can't see how truly far u could take it

I like a fresh start so never bothered me. The only thing you would miss out on is new POIs I believe if you keep your save.
Depends on the update. Some updates include things other than POI that you wouldn't see unless you start a new game. But yeah, it's usually "small" stuff like that. For this update, I think POI may be the only thing you don't see with an older save. That, and depending on game options you choose, you might not get the same experience from an older save. For example, if you're far into a game and use a game option to disable traders or quests and have already been using them, it won't be the same as having them off from the beginning.

I'm guessing you're not on PC, but if you are, you can always export your base as a POI and put it into a new game. But in any case, you don't really need to start a new game for 3.0 unless you choose to. 4.0 might require a new game, though. So just plan ahead. That won't be out until at least the end of the year. Plenty of time to do whatever you want with your base/game.
