PC V3.0 Dead Hot Summer Dev Diary

I am curious to see what excites players the most. Who knows, maybe the POIs...😅...totally unbiased opinion of course....

REALLY can't wait to see the POIs all revamped with the new sign system.

Question for anyone, not just Laz: Are the new signs craftable?

Honestly, that is so far the only thing that really interests me. 99% of the new options will never get touched by me, and the remainder aren't all that important. Sure, I'll adjust some loot options and stuff, but none of it will have any significant change on the game itself. I know some settings would greatly change the game, but they aren't settings I would ever want. So 3.0 will be very underwhelming as a "major" update and fits far more into a 2.7 than a 3.0 for me. But I know it'll be great for others. I suppose I'm one of the "few" who actually like vanilla.

Regarding the new POI, how much those interest me will be in proportion to the number that are *actual* POI versus the number that are just remnants. I have no use for remnants, which made the last large POI inclusion really poor for me. Not only did it add a bunch of POI that I had no interest in, but it also made all those take up space from POI that I was interested in. At least until I change things to prevent most remnants from appearing on the map. If that's what we're mostly getting yet again, then even that will be very underwhelming for me, though even just one new real POI would be nice. And it sounds like we are getting at least some new real POI in the bunch.

I'm generally okay with most (but not all!) vanilla settings, but I think this is a great update for addressing to many little gripes all at once and dramatically expanding the game's potential lifespan, while giving players more ownership of their game experience.

So, yeah, like you I'm mostly excited for new content like POIs (minigun turret!), but I still think it's a very smart and important update by TFP.

I’ve been playing version 3.0 for two days, and it’s a massive improvement over 1.0 and 2.0. On behalf of my viewers, I’d like to put forward a few suggestions:
They hope to see an option for larger backpacks, more weapons, and more interactable furniture — it would be perfectly acceptable if some of these features are locked behind DLC.
There is also a critical access issue: players based in China cannot access Discord. Ever since version 2.0, the mandatory Discord login on the game’s launch screen has locked a large number of players out of the game entirely.

Any plans for a lightweight online "settings interpreter" -page? A simple "POST a hash, receive a list" might be real useful for discussing things here.

A settings "builder" with selectable settings and creation of the codes would be great, but that might be a lot to ask ofc.

But... you'll literally be able to see what those codes mean in the game settings panel by yourself! 😮

That's not mandatory. You can disable discord integration in options..

This creates a catch-22: you can only disable the mandatory Discord login after successfully entering the game, yet the game gets stuck on the Discord screen during launch.
Why would you answer yes to discord integration when you boot up the game for the first time knowing discord cant be used?
Anyways, you can disable it still in windows registry or linux useroptions ini file

3.0-30,000 hours no Ai in the world could have planned that.

I just checked Steam and I have over 10,600 hours in this game. Minus ~40-50 hours in the map generation screen, these are all in-game hours, real hours, occasionally AFK while waiting for morning, occasionally paused, but otherwise real hours. I bring this up because... I don't care. Whether I had 1,000 hours or 100,000, it's just a number to me, and what matters is if the time I spent into something is well spent - and if I put thousands of hours into something, I better be enjoying it. lol.

If I genuinely cared how many hours I had in 7D2D and wanted to share it with others - out of a "this game is awesome" perspective, and not a "look at me and the evidence I don't have a life outside of this game - I wouldn't cheat about it. Where's the bragging rights in leaving your game overnight every night for multiple years. Given I have 10k hours apparently since A17, if you've been playing since A1 I guess it's possible, but if not, well, nobody's impressed. :P

I agree. But i was responding to the statement that discord integration is manditory. Which it isnt.
First off, we never saw an option to disable Discord integration on the login screen — it may or may not be visible now.
Even if the option were there, most players have no clue what Discord is, nor do they know the service is completely inaccessible to them.
This single Discord issue has blocked at least tens of thousands of players from launching the game. A random tutorial video online explaining how to bypass the Discord check has already racked up tens of thousands of views and over 2,000 shares. https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1EvgGz5Efc/
