PS building collapsed and booted us out of game

has anyone had this happened, building collapsed and the game boots you out? any known fix for it?
A collapsing building, especially a large one, can cause a lot of lag. That can definitely cause either the game to crash or, if you're on a server (or even just P2P), you could lag so badly you're disconnected.

As far as the collapse itself, did you cause the collapse, or did it randomly collapse? Did zombies attack it during horde night and cause it to collapse? There could be valid reasons for the collapse, or it may be a bug or bad design of a specific POI or your own bad design if you built the building that collapsed. There was a bug in 2.5 (IIRC) where POI could randomly collapse when they reset (either on the initial loading of the game or resetting for a quest or from a chunk reset). I believe that got fixed, though I am not positive.

i was ontop of the poi housein question looting the poi and i made sure the base was all stable etc as i had previously been digging behind the poi (upgraded the base to concrete) but a huge wandering horde came through and started attacking the bottom of the poi. the poi came crashing down and the game booted both my fiance and myself out of the game. first him( it was his world), he was over in the snow biome. and then booted me 2 minutes later while i was in the forest biome. i know there are bugs in the consoles to where when there are to many falling blocks it renders the game useless at times as the console can't handle the destruction rate. is there a known fix for this bug? other than reporting it to TFP?

You were booted because the game wasn't running anymore after it crashed on him. It just took time for your game to realize it wasn't connected anymore. Anything that you did after he crashed wouldn't be saved because the host wasn't running anymore.

It is difficult to tell if this was a bug or just the wandering horde breaking the support for the POI without seeing it. It is possible that there was still something that didn't have good stability and they broke the one support that kept it from collapsing. Especially if you dug at all under the POI itself. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that beyond being more careful. This wouldn't be the bug that was causing POI to collapse when reset since you were already in the POI before it starting collapsing. It could still be a bug, but I think it is more likely that it was just them breaking whatever was holding it up.

You can report it to TFP - using the in-game report bug feature would be best since you're on console - and they can look into it to see if it looks like a bug or not. But that's about all. The issue with crashing when a lot of blocks are falling affects PC as well as console, though PCs can usually handle more before they crash unless they are a low end PC. TFP improved the falling blocks to use fewer resources, but it's still a lot of work for the system to process and display all of that. Your options are mostly just being careful with digging around POI or destroying parts of POI, or leaving the area as quickly as possible if a POI starts collapsing in hopes that you'll get far enough away before it causes problems, or hosting the game from a PC or dedicated server so it is less likely to crash the game, though it may still cause you to get disconnected from the lag. I can't think of any other options.

i think you misunderstand my question. i asked if there is a known fix to keep the console version from booting you out when there is a major building collapse. has nothing to do with whether the horde caused it or the player. you are reading into things that do not matter in this situation. it does not matter who caused the collapse. the game boots you out because it can not render fast enough the collapse. is there a known fix to keep from being booted out of the game? read that question again. IS THERE A KNOWN FIX TO KEEP YOU FROM BEING BOOTED OUT OF THE GAME WHEN A BUILDING COLLAPSE HAPPENS.

Relax. If you read what I wrote, I already answered that. No. Getting booted (disconnected) due to lag isn't going to change, even if they might at some point improve things to cause less lag. A crash due to the system being unable to handle the resource requirements of rendering that is also not something that is possible to fix beyond continued improvements to performance, which as I said, they've already done some with.

I only explained that this may or may not be an actual bug. If it is not a bug, then the chances of any fix are minimal and will be related to continued optimizations in the game, which will continue to be done. If it is a bug, then they may be able to fix it. I also explained how to avoid the problem in the first place. I'm sorry you don't like the answer.
