Bought game on xbox one, version 1.2. Read about release for console of version 2.6. No update is listed on xbox one. Joined forum today. Cannot find on site a link to where you download any updated version. When search web find hundreds of reviews but no guide to how to upgrade on consoles or a download for version 2.5 or 2.6.

You buy the new version.
It looks like you bought the old Telltale version, which isn't being updated anymore. You'll unfortunately need to buy the PC version, or the new console if you also have a PS5 or XBox Series X or S. The new console version is only for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

I think you missed the obvious that he's talking about Xbox One, which can only play the old Telltale console version of the game. He would need an Xbox series X/S and buy the new version of 7 Days to Die.
Hmm... the telltale version was delisted 2 years ago. And google says it never got to a 1.2 version, only 1.0.18.0.

Besides the obvious already stated Xb1 remark: Consoles have indeed their own versions but on screen the current PS5 version shows "V 2.6 (b14)" in the top right corner right from start while Sony uses internal 1.025.006. No idea what internal number Xbox is using but the game should show the same.

OP could've bought a physical copy from somewhere. As for the version number, they could've read the wrong number.
