Behaviour Interactive + The Fun Pimps: A New Chapter for 7 Days to Die - Behaviour Interactive
We’re excited to share that Behaviour has acquired The Fun Pimps, creators of the celebrated 7 Days to Die.www.bhvr.com
So, how does this bode for the future going forward? I don't remember when they did it (v2.0 maybe), but TFP came up with the idea of 'allowing' folks to pay real world money to have cosmetic overlays to alter their digital character's appearance. This just happened to co-inside with them disabling using in game dyes to colorize the armor. As far as I know, they still have not made the dye's work with armor again.
Another thing I have read about recently, is that, in order to force folks to deal with 'empty bottles', TFP are going to further screw up the Dew Collectors, and force those pesky, and totally useless, empty bottles, into them somehow. Is v2.6 going to do this additional step in the wrong direction?
I have only read about this, heard folks talking about it, because, back when v2.5 came out, TFP decided to 'fix' the HUD, by making the food/drink info far more accessible. While those things are good to know, I guess, they reduced the font size for stuff that we vitally need to be able to see, namely the life/stamina bars.
I play dead = restart.
So, when v2.5 went live, I lost the ability to play, as I couldn't see/read my newly minted smaller text size hud, due to my failing eyesight. After spending time looking for the non-existent control settings that would allow me to just adjust my in game HUD to my needs, and then coming on these forums and asking for help getting the text size restored, I just gave up on v2.5, and thought I would just have to wait for v2.6.
Now however, I'm wondering if I am not just better off staying on v2.4, until the smell mechanic and the whole empty bottle junk can be set to "Naw dude, naw".
With the recent subnautica situation and the microsoft and embracer group bull■■■■ that came before (and what happened with telltale), I think its been proven that big gaming companies don't give a ■■■■ about the teams they buy up, they'll happily shut down companies/games and use the scraps for there next big pile of crap they're releasing, I just hope The Fun Pimps got a tight contract.
++The game is dead, painful to play, the DLCs will be paid, a sort of pay to win.
They sold to the worst studio that even in a nightmare we wouldn't have wanted.
We were expecting hope, we got another betrayal.
Actually, that makes me less interested in their new game. Rushing it out because they have more people who haven't ever seen the code who are available to help work on it? Bad idea. New company that will absolutely be sticking their noses into the new game and controlling what's done with it? If I had a good feeling about Behavior Interactive, then maybe that wouldn't leave a bad taste in my mouth, but considering who they are? Any early access release now will be something I'll ignore and then wait until a final release to see if it's worth anything or just corrupted by BI. I would likely have bought their next game in early access if it was still just TFP, as long as it was a game type I enjoy, of course. Some people can only focus on worst case scenarios. Worrying just makes you suffer twice. The positives are more resources available to TFP.
It’s not a secret that TFP has another very promising game waiting in the wings. On their own, they would probably have to wait another 2-3 years before releasing it, being forced to wait until 7 Days wraps up.
But now it could get fast-tracked with support from Behaviour and released possibly this year sometime under Behaviour’s label long before 7 Days is done and without all the bad press of TFP releasing a new game before their first is finished.
To me, that is a huge plus.

In any case, releasing it before this game is finished will be bad press no matter who owns TFP.
But maybe things will be fine. We'll see. I prefer to err on the side of caution and be pleasantly surprised when things work out in something like this than to believe things will work out and be disappointed when they don't.
