PC The recent changes to Trader Jen's model and the 1.0 trader voice changes.

I much prefer the new model, it's more realistic looking, although my only constructive complaints are that I miss the blood splatters her old top used to have, and I will always miss the lab coat. I'm happy that they toned down some of her physical features (not that you wouldn't see the back half anyway), the older's design reeked of immaturity in my opinion. (I'm not even getting political here. I didn't like the prior design for the same reason that Rekt swearing every second line is a minor annoyance to me. It's not clever and feels like something designed by a child, but I digress. Joel's and Hugh's voice work on the other hand... Ugh...)

I support the lighting in the church getting looked at. It's a bit too moody (dark and dreary) for my tastes. It doesn't need to be lit up with a dozen spotlights, either - just balanced.

My first impression of the game was that it was...somewhat immature. But so were the "old school" games I adore, including Fallout New Vegas. That's where it's "old school" charm lies. It doesn't seem to care who it "offends" any more than the classics gave a ■■■■ who they "offended." The classics were made in more innocent times -- before politics became the new religion; the US became the United States of the Offended; and people with torches and pitchforks began going after everyone within arm's reach to take their frustrations with the world out on.

People call our world "post 9/11." Post-truth seems more to the mark to my sensibilities.

Eh, was never offended by it. People are far too soft nowadays as you said. It's just an eye roller to me, it's harmless.

Usually, people who think rude language is childish are white collars (of course this is a generalization). But in some work environments, especially where you do hard or dangerous manual labor, you don't have time (or patience) to be polite or courteous, and you don't give a flying f*ck about someone else's sensibility.

In that regard, it makes sense that Rekt is using that kind of language in my opinion.

Her face was more lean and refined; more mature than the rounded, chubby face, imo. Ergo, the voice fit the model perfectly. I still maintain that were the model to be slightly more refined -- especially in the face -- the model would fit the voice perfectly.

Now they just need to make the lips and mouth move with their (the traders') dialogue.

Dream on? lol Uh...yeah. That's a little awkward, isn't it? Most developers, including the triple As, use third party software for that purpose. Guessing TFP hasn't found one they like?

Just -- God forbid -- they look like the lip sync for Fallout 4. OMG. That was awful, even compared to FO3.

My main complaint with the new Jen model is that she looks too "clean." Not only does her skin look like it's made out of plastic, her clothes do too, and they look almost brand new.

Compare that with the "old" Jen model, where her skin looked like it had some patches of dirt on it, her T-shirt was torn and had blood stains, her jeans had rips in them, etc.

If this kind of stuff was added to the new Jen model, I'd think the new one was better than the old one.

EDIT: I have no issues with any of the voices or voice actors, Jen or otherwise.

The trader Jen model was the only one that didn't receive a recent overhaul. When you do a side-by-side, you can see that her quality wasn't quite the same as the others.

My personal opinion, which may be unpopular, is one of praise for the new model. I think she's beautiful and more realistic than she was before.
I can't possibly praise the new model especially when it's directly compared to the previous model. The new model looks like it's a mannequin with a puffy, fake face. It's poorly done, it doesn't look like a person. The old model looked like an actual human. It's like night and day.

Here's a comparison of the old and new Jen:

In my opinion, the new one looks so much better and more realistic. The legs of the old one don't look great, the face was too flat. There was already a bit of the Asian look in the old one, but was not easy to see; now it's clear (and there's even a hint since she even says something in Japanese). When compared side by side (see images), it's clear to see the winner here. I know some of you nostalgic people don't like changes, but this was a good one.
The shiny skin could be that she's sweating because it's hot in the burnt forest.

Bravo to the designer of the new model. Really lovely work. These art guys don't get enough praise; mainly complaints from people who excels in that field.
Thank you for posting them side by side, this shows exactly why the old model, especially the face and head, is far superior.

Thank you - I'm not the only one that thinks it definitely looks like plastic, like a mannequin but... there's nothing they can do to the new model to make it better than the old one other than making it look mostly like the old model. :D

The new model is such a downgrade that they should just revert to the old one and leave it alone (or let us toggle old/new voices and models for traders without using a frickin' mod to do it), it was perfectly fine as it was just like the voices they decided to swap...

Although generally true (and common), it is still possible to not be rude and still be loud or commanding or whatever in order to deal with dangerous situations. The idea that you have to be rude in such situations is simply not true. It may be common, but it's not required.

I don't really care one way or another, though. I hate Rekt and avoid him as much as I can, but I also tune out all of the voices and don't even notice what they say anymore, so it doesn't matter to me what he says. I think it's over the top, but it's about what I expect from games like this. I just don't think that calling being rude acceptable in certain jobs or situations is okay, even if it's common.

"Calling it acceptable" .. "okay"? Might makes right. The rude guy doesn't care what you deem acceptable. And there's roughly nothing you can do about it, so, why would he? Whaddya gonna do, show up at the oil rig and bully him? Why? The potential of someone using strong language somewhere on the planet is somehow ... offensive to you?

How weak can we make "men"? :)

I won't argue it with you, but promoting acting like a jerk is just dumb. And being a jerk isn't the definition of a "strong" man. I'm also not offended. As I said, I don't really care. I just don't support promoting it.

Lady doth protest a lot ... case in point; we'd both be happier if the forum rules didn't stop me from expressing my opinion in short enough words. I'd have made my point without you feeling like you need to respond ... :P

I never said it's "acceptable" or "required".
It's just how it is in many such places.

By the way... I think you're a White Collar and if you don't like the way Rekt talks... you can always try at Shamway! 🤣
