Some thoughts I had

Been a fan of this game for many years (10 years actually), just wanted to put a little input in.
I think the game is already really good on a basic level, it does not need to be greatly overhauled or re-invented. What I think could drive the game forward is more horizontal updates rather than vertical updates. Here is what I mean, more cars, more guns, more zombie pedestrian skins. We got a 4x4 vehicle, how about another kind of 4x4? What about a muscle car? What about a Mad Max style moddable car? What about an RV? Just more vehicles in general. What about more guns? Like a mosin nagant or a colt 1911, G3A3, glock (the auto pistol variety), VSS Vintorez, a double barrel with a long barrel, old timey guns like muskets and flint lock pistols, JUST GO NUTS! We love guns, just add more! Maybe you can add legendary named weapons, kinda like in New Vegas where there's a gun called "Maria" and it has a unique skin and some bonus stats, or the "Medicine Stick" which is a highly decorated rifle. But please don't add sci-fi guns. I don't want laser guns and stuff, just wouldn't fit with the game. So more cars and more guns and more zombie characters too. Like maybe there's a sexy librarian zombie, or a chef zombie, a fireman zombie, a goth chick/rocker zombie, just more zeds. They don't need any special tricks, just more skins and varieties of zeds would be nice.

So that's what I mean, think "horizontally" rather than vertically. Just add more stuff that the people love. I know modders do some of this already, but dev-made weapons have a specific touch, ya know? I think you guys know how to fit it into the game nicer and make it aesthetically work. I read once that you guys want to keep the game's file size low but........ why? I mean, you guys could easily go up to 35-50 gig file size for the game and I doubt anybody would have an issue with it. Don't worry about adding more stuff to the game!

Anyways, thank you! I hope this gets read and I hope my suggestions make it into the game =)

To be fair at this stage I think it's ok to let those kinds of "improvements" to modders for PC and I realy hope they focus more on optimisation of the current version so it will remain well playable on console too. After all, it is sold as crossplay wich means that the lowest ranking hardware is the bottomline and consoles are not ready for more..

Idk what you mean, I think the PS5 version of 7 Days to Die runs quite well. I don't get why more guns/vehicles/zombie types would change all that. The filesize of the game isn't going to effect the performance. Sometimes mods break over time as the game is continued to be updated and then the mods never get updated by the mod author, if the devs add weapons into the game themselves there is a little more guarantee that they will continue to be part of the game even years later.

Why not have some extremely rare legendary named weapons in the game? It would be so fun to go loot hunting for them. Or maybe there's a sportscar vehicle you could put together, like a makeshift dodge viper or something out of Mad Max. I don't get what you mean by the PS5 holding us back. This isn't about performance at all. If you're talking about the PS4 then it doesn't matter as the PS4 version does not get updates anymore anyway.

If the Fun Pimps removed all the guns from the game, the game isn't going to magically run smoother, so adding more isn't going to effect that.

The game runs acceptable mostly on PS5 but many things just don't run smooth. Minifreezes when opening inventory or maps, objects render in way too late when driving/flying, vehicles unfindable after chrashes without going to the logfile, animal indicators are random, underground in larger POI's you still look under the map instead of showing the other side of the POI, demolished POI's still visible on approach... Want more?

I don't get why more guns/vehicles/zombie types would change all that.
That's not the point. The point is it takes away focus of core game performance.
All bugs fixed and still time at hand? Please, add more content. But not now, first fix the core of the game.

Also: PS5 is not the lowest ranking hardware, Series S is. No need to mention PS4 anymore, that ship has sailed and sunk.

Minifreezes when opening inventory or maps
This isn't likely to change. That happens because that is when they do the unloading of unused assets. It happens on PC as well. They moved it there instead of doing it every 20 minutes, no matter what you were doing at the time. It works better this way, even with the split second freezes.

As far as some of the other items, they may improve, but they are long time things that are probably very low priority.

I think they are more likely to sell weapon skins as dlc 😂

That part I'm aware of but is not the kind of stutter I'm refering to. It gets way worse in POI's, the "mini" turns in to over a second delay when killing a wandering horde in the Burnt Forest and also starts ignoring inputs while fps drops under 10.
It is not the point of my initial response: I know that there might be things they will maybe never fix but please let them fix the major issues BEFORE focusing on new content.
In all fairnes, I think they run too fast. All is still in very early acces and console performance is under par for v1.x, not even to mention it is already a v2.x. Calling the curren state a 0.8.x or maybe even 0.9.x would be more on the point.

I was responding specifically to you saying what happens when opening inventory or map. I know there are other times when there are performance issues. And one of those should be fixed in 2.6.

As far as improving performance, they do that with each update. Look through the patch notes and other than hotfix updates, you'll see various performance improvements in each update. Whether or not those help you specifically will just depend on what specific issues you are having and what ones they have improved. Performance improvements happen as they continue to add content. That is normal for game development. At the very end of the development, they're likely to have one major pass at performance improvements once everything else is in the game. Doing certain kinds of performance updates before things are added just means having to redo them after things are added, so some things are just better left until the end.

And keep in mine what faatal has said in the past... most significant performance updates have already been done. Most that remain will be minor updates that will help mainly in certain specific cases and not a general improvement everywhere in the game. Anytime there are performance problems due to bugs or new content, then fixing those can be significant, but overall the future performance improvements just aren't likely to be that noticeable for most people.

Most people seem to agree that the version numbers they are doing make no sense. But it seems they had to use 1.x in order to release on console. Anyone following the game should know by now that the game is still essentially Alpha X.X and not a full release yet. It isn't Early Access, but it is alpha. It will not be a full release (what most of us consider a 1.x release) until after the story update that was supposed to be 4.0 and now will probably be something closer to 10.0 because of their really messed up version numbering. But that's a very old debate at this point.

You said "consoles are not ready for more" so do not attempt to backtrack on what you said. Adding more vehicles and items and zombie types does not effect performance. If you want to make the point that it takes resources and time away from improving the core of the game, then that is an entirely different point you are making now.

Most dev teams will tell you, they can have a group working on performance and they have other groups working on more content, it is not as if you put every single person on your staff to work on performance (that's not even efficient most of the time), you can have different things worked on at the same time putting the right people for the right job according to their talents. Maybe you're just not very familiar with how game development works.

Exactly! I'd rather have bigger maps, more modern POI (like today's) buildings/housing developments, more items to collect that are required to build new advanced equipment. I hear they added another mod slot for the gyrocopter to put 5 mods on it, hope that means they'll do the same for all weapons and armor as well later on.

Maybe for whatever hunk of junk you're playing on but I think the PS5 can handle a few extra zombie pedestrians. It's funny how "concerned" for consoles you people pretend to be hahaha just admit your PCs are bad.
Just checked the label on my hunk of junk: PS5.

It's ok you like the game, so do I. But get your head out of your lower back and be objective, the performance is not good at the moment.

I have seen how 7 Days to Die runs on the PS5 and I think it's fine. More zombie types, guns, and vehicles aren't going to change that, drama queen.

Till what level do you play? You go out exploring in Wasteland cities or large high tier POI's? Do you use a gyro or bike at high speed?
For F's sake, don't be such a fanboy.

Oh wait... Your name gave it away already.
