Experiment: Maxed lucky looter before anything else

warmer

Hunter
As an experiment I decided to max out lucky looter first and then add points to skills.
This idea here was to maximize the time I have a loot bonus and minimize the time I spend looting early game.

I started a new 8k RWG game with all settings on default and default gameplay settings.

By the end of day 1 I was level 2 in lucky looter and I had found a cooking pot and several cans of food
By the end of day 2 I was level 3 in lucky looter and I had found a beaker
By the end of day 3 I found the water filter helmet mod
By the end of day 4 I was level 5 lucky looter (Player level 7) and I found a three armor pieces, 5 First Aid kits, 100+ round of rifle/pistol ammo
By the end of day 5 I had found all of the pipe weapons at lvl 3, a 2x and an 8x scope, a red dot and a fore grip.
By the end of day 6 I was sitting on 5 honey, 3 antibiotics, 5 herbal antibiotics.

I hadn't found a toilet pistol which surprised me, but at this point I was level 11 so I don't know when that shows up in loot stage/tables

This is all looting tier 1 house POI on missions from Rekt. JUST houses. No gun safes or Messiah POIs. Just the end POI loot and basic trash and containers.

I don't know about you, but I NEVER have a start that fast regarding scopes or armor pieces.

Something I didn't expect was how BLAZING FAST looting a whole POI becomes once you have max lucky looter. This allows you do a lot more in your day than waiting for timers to expire.

Who else has done this and what was your experience?

That is what I have done for years. The exact way for me is
lucky looter max it and bows points to lvl 3 until I make a compound 6.
Paired with knives to help find a high tier hunting knife. Drink the
fergitin elixir, remax lucky looter and invest in rifle to sniper 6, and
as a side just 1 point in food, to get the books.

On my map I only do the trader quest to get the bike after I have
at least 1 tier 6 weapon. On my map I do only tier 4 and up. Most
of them in alternate biomes, before I have finished the biome
prerequisites. And i collect the biome items as I pass through.
And especially all of the t5s that people have been missing.
An 8k vanilla map has 2500 pois minus the other t5s, My 10k map
was custom formed and has 6594. So plenty to choose from.

The only lucky looter book I read is the more junk. the rest I sell.
That is why I have never complained about the balance. This has
always kept it balanced for me.

I get high tier armor errant weapons, upper level temperature inserts
and resources, and all workstations with addons, but I can play it at a
casual pace.

I just added some monkey wrenches, to my gameplay, and so far in
just the forest I have been able to slow my progress, to about half
at simple nomad playing day and night. Now to update the other biomes.
Got a few more things to fix, I want 75% progression reduction without
nerfs or artificial buffs. Using my same format.

I max it out every playthrough. Love it. Then I start building my main base in the snow biome and loot high quality gear there. The looting speed is an added bonus. It's one of my go to perks every time.

Once I can make lockpicks, I start looting cop cars for ammo and quality weapons. "You are on a roll and the dice are loaded!"

I've never leveled this skill first—I'll have to give it a try. I usually take it to speed up container searches, but after reading the comments, I think I'll level it up first, although the farming skill is also quite useful.

Another skill I max out, "Living off the Land". I love farming. I do miss the old version of farming using a hoe to prepare the ground. I also miss having both dirt and clay. Not a fan of the simplified stuff.

I didn't get the hoe. I'm not very comfortable with the modern system of constantly replanting plants; I preferred the option of leaving a seedling after harvesting, as it was in versions A17-A19.

With looter maxed you will find farming gear, actually you will find all gear,
and the quad pocket book and mod, usually in desert or waste. It doesn't
differentiate, it just gives better yield and volume, even from basic trash. And
honey has never been a problem with it. Mo stuff means mo money means mo
early purchases, if I don't find it within the time I want.

Since I play at a leisurely pace, and rotate objectives, it fits for me.
And with it only 1 point in lockpicks does well enough. I just mark
em and go back later, until I get the workstation, usually by day5-7 Depending on
how far across the map I am running.

Not a fact. I have been running around the wasteland for a long time with a fully pumped up Lucky Looter skill and for a long time with level 300. During the entire game, neither this bag nor the recipe fell out to me.

Wow, all I can say is I am so sorry. I get them with each play through.
Usually before the level 30s. I don't spread points around, I just let RNG
choose.

That is what makes my way of playing odd to others.
What I will invest in.
Lucky looter.

3 points in a weapon, then fergit it when I get a tier 6.
I only like to use physical mods to upgrade damage and defense.
I don't ever use the perks to do more damage like reading
the animal damage modifiers.

I don't invest in attributes any higher than 3 to get 3 in
a weapon. Mainly because the damage modifiers that go with
attribute perks are over kill for me.

By the time I have two weapons leveled up, then fergit them
both back to their raw damage, I have more than enough points
to fill out an attribute, I just don't use them. Then I just run with what Iv'e got.

Since I play solo, the wardrobe does not matter to me so I sell
all armor that I am not going to wear. I sell weapons that are
not a part of my gameplay. I prefer compound bow, knife, stone spear, regular
pistol with silencer, either the lever action rifle or sniper rifle 18 shot.
All else is sold, so it makes it easy for me to be nomadic. I don't even use the
time bombs I just collect and store them. I prefer molotovs.

I prefer the raw damage of a weapon and the built in resistance of armor, it's me
against the game, using stealth strats and tactics, not points buffs and perks.

I am completely satisfied when I get to grilled meat, although i usually get
to the end. Because I go to the desert and cut yucca in volume as an additive.
I go to the snow for blueberries and snowballs.
Empty bottles are easily found, and in a pinch bought. I only build the dew collector
about 30% of the time, because i'm more accustom without it, I only need a day and a half
supply of water because I will find more. I use glue that I find, it isn't a production
thing for me.

For pack mule, I feel more of an accomplishment finding mods. Until then
I overload my pack every outing. It feels like more of an individual struggle
to overcome, than to just have it handed to me. I just got use to it from years of playing, and
have played that way ever since.

For me it is to play as spartanistic as I can, learn from my mistakes and do smarter next
time.
