Just angry thread

To be fair I expected that 1.0 ment the game was as good as complete so I jumped in. Slightly dissapointed that 1.0 does not mean it is finished and when 2.0 forced to start all over again I got annoyed since consoles don't have the option to revert to an older version and I realy like the base I had. But mad or angry? Please, I play games to relax and if a game has that effect on be it just gets deleted.
By now I think 2.5 is not too bad and I hope that future updates do not force a complete fresh start again.

3.0 and 4.0 will require new games.

I first tried playing this on A19 and didn't like it at all. Then I picked it back up on A21 and fell in love with it. The only thing I wanted added to the game was a lot more zombie models, so I made them myself. Other things I didn't like, such as Joel's new voice, I changed.

The one update that I didn't like was 2.0. I thought Frostclaw was not thematically appropriate for a zombie game and I didn't like how the storms were implemented. Now those have been fixed. Chuck is better and I'm not bothered by the storms anymore.

I did go back to A16 and played it for 50 hours. It was boring. The only thing that I would like from A16 is the snow...both how it accumulates and how it falls in the pine forest from time to time. But in A16 it was not implemented well. It would snow in the pine forest for an hour and then quickly get warm. It made no sense.

For me, the core mechanics of this game are so good that there really isn't anything that bothers me enough to be mad at it. Sure, there are small things that I wish were different, but they're fairly insignificant. And I also think a decent portion of my enjoyment comes from being able to mod, but I only make aesthetic mods. Nothing I add changes how the game is played.

So most of the complaints I read confuse me.

What are you mad about in 7D2D?
So, does anyone else feel like the more they "fix" the game the worst it gets?

Since you're surveying... No, not really. I think they experiment and eventually settle on how they want things to work based on feedback and their experiences playing the game. Sure, there are a few features for which I have different preferences. That's bound to happen in a game with so many different player desires. I'm happy TFP empowers mods as much as they do.

The game came out in 2013 and didn’t look good back then. The developers tried to improve the graphics, redesigning the models, and because of that they didn’t have time for new content. They already had those bandits, but they wanted the game to look good, so they remade all their models and basically everything from scratch. I understand that. I would have never said that a game which looked terrible in 2013 could look like this today.
The years have passed and we are now getting close to version 3.0, an update that many people have been waiting for for a very long time. I hope it was really worth waiting all these years. I understand some of the decisions they made some of them I think are good, some worse, and others neutral. Not everything they did appeals to me, but once I finally see version 3.0 and of course 2.6, 2.8, or whatever comes along the way I’ll have the full picture of the game and will be able to fully express my opinion then.
I don’t know if they plan to make a new game in the future, but I would prefer them not to abandon this project and to keep updating it for years, even if it is already finished. It would be a shame to leave a game like this behind after all these years. I understand all of that, but time is money. Still, what I like outweighs what I don’t, and I think that applies to every game because no game is perfect. I’m glad the developers have been open to the community, and so far it’s looking pretty good.

Didn’t have time for new content, and yet, off the top of my head, they had the time to add vehicles. And traders. And electricity. And painting. And new quest types. And dynamic music. And novel ways to interact with the game as a Twitch viewer. And more weapons and tools. And more zombie and animal types. And a boatload of POIs.

I don’t know if I’m “mad” or “angry” about anything as the OP asks, but I am weary of people characterizing the devs as not adding content since 2013. The reality is there’s been tons of content added. People bemoan where’s the content, when they really mean some very specific type of content that they’re personally looking forward to - usually bandit NPCs and/or story - hasn’t been added yet. As if all the other added content doesn’t count.

some of that is fair criticism of the commentary complaining about the lack of new content. form my POV TFP have added lots of good to great POI's. they have also added content "nobody asked for" like new Jen models instead of Story and Bandits. They have reworked progression systems INSTEAD OF REFINING THEM...ahead of adding the new content people have been waiting for...which IS the Bandits and Story. They have done a poor job of explaining themselves...how is THAT on the players?

I didn’t want it to come across that way my mistake. It’s just that it’s 2026, and it took some time to see the game at the point it’s at now. It’s probably a very big and difficult project what do I know about that? I don’t know anything about game development. I really like this game, and I have no idea how hard it was to make a project like this, but I can imagine it was very hard. The only perspective I have is as a player, and the thing that really matters to me is the time it took.If I knew more about game development, I probably wouldn’t have written anything.

Maybe they have more than one employee working. New Jen model instead of Story and Bandits, Come on really? This horse you have beaten on has now been pushed through the earth and is on the other side.

like new Jen models
I can kind of understand this particular change. She is supposed to be based on a
real team member's partner. It has been years so they, updated her quality and made
her look more mature.

Although following that logic, Rekt should be dead, a zombie by now, or at least crouched
over the counter with liver failure. ZZTong took care of that.

let's separate this...because the "horse" I've been accused of beating on...is asking/demanding better communication from here on out.

Yes...I and many others, have complained or continue to complain, that TFP have changed progression systems instead of refining them...and are now coming back around to reintroducing things like water collection or potentially LBD. (things that many felt should have been refined instead of being removed) Meanwhile Bandits and Story have not been introduced...they get delayed over and over again, by reworking things that "were not asked for" and did not seem to need changing. TFP HAVE done a poor job of communicating thru all of this...so I ask YOU...how is THAT the players fault?

If true...wow...her looks have changed a lot....but, still a hottie. It was meant to be an example of what some people consider a frivolous change...not any kind of personal attack on Jen.

Rekt should probably have jaundice at this point at least. lol I guess he's nobodies love so shall remain forever unchanged. (**officially not a request for a skin change...in case that needs saying)
