V2.5 Survival Revival Dev Diary

A red moon! AHH! lol

Has anyone done a mission that started and failed you right on the start?
That happened to me yesterday doing a dig. I took a mission from her but didn't' start it right away. It may have been an hour latter, not sure.
I went to the location indicated, got ready and clicked on the flag. It started and immediately told me that I failed with Mission failed message. No idea why.
I have done many missions and even failed a few. Some by getting too far away from the digging location after start. But this is a first.
As I moved away, I remembered to pullup a log.
Level 2 dig. I have not had the chance to see if other dig missions would fail after this. As none have listed in the time that I have played since this issue.
Also, I don't use mods and playing Alpha 2.5.

It's rare, but it does happen. I think there's a bug report on this... Maybe.

Theres. one thing that I just loooove about this game.
Is that it rewards you for effort. I hear a jingling and go to open the door and find all these dead dogs. That I can now harvest for resources.
Ok, ok. they were alive and I killed them but I still got them to come to me and delt with them on my terms, rather than the other way around. that and experience points. 😁 1768342032566.jpeg

I had one do that the other day. Dig mission, failed when I clicked the flag. Unfortunately I did not report it, but will next time. It was a pine forest quest from Reckt. No mods, 2.5 stable.

The dig quests failing on activation is an old bug that seems to have come back. I've had it happen once with the latest update so far. I don't remember if it was an A21 bug or 1.0 though.

I encounter this bug when the server is already populated with players and their bases. A newcomer logs in, accepts an excavation quest, arrives at the location, and finds a player's base there. The quest sometimes cancels itself automatically / sometimes we have to cancel it manually. They return to the Merchant, accept the quest again, and it sends them to the exact same spot. They wait for a day. Then they accept the quest, and sometimes it leads to a different location. BUT a base could be there too. And like that, the initial quests can bug out like this 3-4 times.

Personally i think that crawl mechanic needs to go, it doesn't really add anything meaningful imho yet it causes countless issues with zombies getting stuck under desks, under floors etc...... and that's quite annoying.

The thing that annoys me the most about the crawl mechanic is the animation itself. They don't crawl, they crouch. It looks silly. So it doesn't even add fear. They should get down on their bellies, as if they lost their legs, and crawl through the gap.

Unexpected map corruption
hello,
i have had multiple players base areas to be unexpectedly reset and region chunk corruption during 2.5...
the only common denominator associated with the players is they had the Apiary station.
since, past history with the forge which used to do the same thing (wipe bases and corrupt regions) when overloaded,
my initial thought is the Apiary station is causing the corruption...
so its something that needs monitored to determine if this is the cause.
If anyone else has experienced map corruption or base area being wiped while an apiary station is there, i would love to hear your story.
thanks

So nice! I'm happy for you. What specs do you have (if you don't mind sharing)?

My specs:

Intel I9 9900K
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
Samsung 32:9 Odyssey G9 monitor at 5120 x 1440 resolution
64GB memory
2 NVMe SSDs (2TB and 4TB)

Windows 11 (but experimenting with Linux on CachyOS, 7 Days to Die runs pretty well so far)

For a PC that I build over 7 years ago, it still runs games pretty well, even at 5120 x 1440 resolution. For 7 Days to Die, I usually get around 100 - 120 FPS (depending if I run a solo game or host one I play with my brother).
I have 1/4 of the RAM but outside of that, the same rig. Curious what your game video settings are as I don't get near 100.

At first I was thinking the same, but the basturds are into us for our brains, so no time for crawling, just time for brains for them.

Poor guy, hope he is doing good and well nowadays :)

So, I just realized something. One of the quest rewards may have a Typo.
The kill a lot of zombies. The reward says xp and ammo. I had 150 ammo
on me both before and after selecting it. Sooooo...that's like buying a party
sized bag of potato chips, and only having half a bag of chips.

Are you talking about the challenges? You have to go to the trader to get the reward. It is just like turning in a quest, and it's easy to not realize the reward is for a challenge instead of a quest. It does say so when turning it in, but most people probably don't read that and just look at the reward options.

Thank You. This was actually the first time I read it. I just click them when they turn
green an keep on going.
A lot of people miss that. :)

I wonder if there is something they could do for the turn in so it's more obvious. Once you know about it, it's not a problem, but since a lot of people don't realize that's where the reward is coming from, something that helped make it more obvious might be worthwhile. Even if it was separating it from quest turn-ins. Right now, you just keep selecting rewards from quests and challenge and there's no distinction between the two if you're not reading the text. If there was something like the trader saying something before challenge turn-ins, like "I see you completed a challenge. Here is your reward." (but with better text), that could be an option. I'm sure there are better ideas, as well.

Truthfully I probably missed a lot of things in the game. Never concentrated
on rewards or the achievements. I get a bit wrapped up in, traveling across
the map to see how my painted landscape plays out and what can be done better.

This version especially, it inspires me, to do a bit more crafting, racing the
storms, using bait traps. There is no set path, so I wander as far as I can. I
did notice one thing that I don't remember happening before, swimming in water
has less friction once you stop stroking. So I have actually started reading
outside of editing and modding and painting.

I missed the fact that the Lever action rifle was in the game for years. Until I was
told recently. Just busted my butt to craft one yesterday, happy days.

Fighting feels more fluid to me now, I actively switch between, melee ranged and
spikes in almost every fight. The way the food and water have been redone, it plays
perfectly into going far and through multiple biomes, then having to return, no straight
paths, mostly offroad, 4k feels like 20.

Now I have one thing I want to do or get, I "need" binoculars, I may try to mod a set
unless I can find a mod for one. I "need" a set, trying to manually find all of the
traders.

Best for me is I am nearly finished building my computer, so I can reinstall my theflood mod.
I didn't build it for the game, it' for an ai project, but the game will benefit from it also.
I build a computer every 9 or 10 years. This new one should last for the next generation of 7days
and New releases.
