Why not overlays of altitude and MPH or KPH? It would also be nice to have an artificial horizon as well. It is good to know the KPH and altitude to try land safely. As it is it's just trial and error and/or guessing.

Does anyone know of a mod made for 1.x anywhere that has this.

You shouldn't need to do that unless you're trying to skim the treetops. I might tap it once every few minutes, at most.

The gyrocopter really isn't bad, once you're comfortable using it. Especially now, when you can bring it to almost a complete stop in the air before landing and still make a smooth landing. For anyone having trouble with it, find a long flat area without anything in the way and just practice taking off and landing until you can do both without much space and without difficulty. Once you can take off or land within 20-30m, you won't have any real issues with it anymore.

My problem is I am usually in town going to traders and I seem to hit the lampposts no matter how much I think I will clear it, I smack into it and wonder how that happened. I do sometimes like it skim above trees and do OK most of the time. I cannot be sure whether pressing the left mouse button helps (whatever mode that is called). Sometimes it seems better and other not.

I am not against the gyrocopter at all, I just think the overlays would be cool - not necessary though - and a mod that does this would be cool too.

Quartz Vehicle HUD gives you speed and an artificial horizon.

For altitude I use AGF. That's a lot of mod just for altitude but flying in 0 viz without any sort of altimeter is annoying.

I wasn't saying it was bad. I think an auto-leveling functionality would be a nice feature. I do like to fly a little above tree top level so I can see the ground better. Constantly having to adjust your leveling is a little annoying.
