PC V2.5 EXP out NOW!

Yeah, RWG roads seem to be worse now.
Because of the way i play RWG in general has been getting worse and worse for me. Time was i could have multiple of the same t5 poi's within a few kilometers of each other, now they seem to refuse to spawn within 5k of each other. A year or two ago i had a city with 3 corrections in it and since that's an S tier poi i loved it. Nowadays there seems to be a hard limit of 1 per city and 1 per 5000 meter radius.
And thats if the t5 poi even spawns, i swear i haven't seen several in ages...

I understand from a role playing perspective that 1 prison or one theater per area might make sense, but why does my endgame have to suffer because of a bunch of roleplayers? If i want two minotaur's across the street from each other then let me have them! I'm not doing F tier poi's more than once, they cant make me!

Yeah, the limitations on tris or whatever that were added to improve performance in downtown and commercial districts (not sure if any other districts are affected) really reduce the number of good, large T5s. And honestly, it had zero effect on performance for me. I still have delays loading chunks if I'm driving fast in a large town (that mainly means I'm using a supercharger with a motorcycle). It didn't improve at all and I have no other performance problems in large towns unless I'm there for too long without leaving and allowing unused assets to clear out a bit. I normally make maps with Teragon, which does not limit POI based on tris and I have no issues with those maps and they just have far better towns/cities because of it.

As far as duplicate POI, I'm fine with no duplicates (or few) next to one another. For RWG, you'd have to edit the XML files for the POIs to reduce the distances to allow them to appear closer together. If you were using Teragon, you can change that without editing the XML files.

Its been 7+ years since i last used a map gen mod. The last one i used felt good for making cities but had a problem where all the roads it generated were dirt roads, even in the city!

Perhaps its time i tried to use one again, to really get a world that can match well with my play style.

That would have been before tiles. With tiles, you can't get dirt roads in a city other than ones specifically designed to be there, which is limited mainly to alleys and the old west towns. If you do decide to try Teragon, feel free to stop by the Discord server to get help. It has a steep learning curve, but is quite powerful.

My observation is there are three factors at play:

With 2.5 RWG there's a reluctance to use Tiles other than Intersection and T for certain districts and that is keeping a number of POIs from getting placed. This is unlikely to be desired behavior, so I would expect that to improve with time. This is likely the single most limiting factor right now.

There's "density" issues in certain districts related to performance. You may not see the performance issue, but players on certain platforms can, so understandably the game caters to a certain minimum. In your case, the good news is this can be controlled through game modification if you're interested in learning it, but coping with density limitations can be a lot of creative work. This has been a moderately limiting factor with Downtown and Commercial POIs, possibly Industrial POIs too.

The third issue is the minimum distance between duplicate POIs. This can also be controlled through game modification and it is pretty easy to make these changes. This is also probably the least limiting factor right now.

I absolute love the distant storm rendering! Beautiful to watch and so helpful.

All in all, 2.5 is really great.

Are the zombies more athletic now? Seems to be better jumpers. Could just be my base design, tho...

I don't get the protective clothing. Why aren't insulation mods to these, and why did I find high-tier protective clothing early in the game, and then nothing thereafter? I like the concept, it just seems like it requires some tweaking.

Insulation mods exist still, and with clothing I didn't start finding Thermacore clothing until the snow biome, when I was a higher game stage.

Insulation mods only work with armor, I think it would be better if they actually worked with clothes.

Here's the clothes I have in my current game at day 44:

I basically found all these clothes within the first few days. And then I stopped finding clothes. Normally, the progression in the game would make sure I would start off by finding low-tier items and then gradually find higher and higher tiers. But I found a tier 5 cap very early on.

It's just RNG and anecdotal. I myself have found gradually increasing qualities of clothing in my current game.
