v2.5 - Disabling Biome progression question

Hi all. I have a save that we've been putting lots of time into. I like that I need to craft biome hazard gear, but I don't like all the other hoops I need to jump through to unlock crafting of it. I don't like that mandatory lock.

1) Will disabling progression mid game mess up our game/save?
2) Can I still craft and use gear if I disable progression, or does that also eliminate the gear requirement as well?

1) I think, it will not harm game save
2) Biome progression can be disabled without fear....I guess since 2.1-2.2 when devs made reskinned biome badges (AKA biome gears) craftable!
 
I think I may have found a glitch when disabling progression. As you can see in the first image, when disabled it seems as if you could still use the protective gear. The radioactive icon is still there. But then in the third image below you can see that it is locked. If you click challenge, it takes you to a broken challenge menu. (Second image). All I want to do is disable the progression but still have the hazards in biomes and gear requirement. I want to make the gear just like any other equipment in the game, without jumping through challenge hoops.

@ The Dev's, could you please remove the recipe locks? Please leave it up to us in what order we complete those biome challenges. If we want to make the gear right away, why not?

I doubt they'll make it available without the challenges as that's kind of the point of it. Otherwise, crafting it is very easy and cheap, making it not really worth even using them if you're turning of biome progression. So if it's something you really want, a mod is probably the only option you'll have. That of course only helps if you are on PC or the host is on PC or you're using a dedicated server to host the game.

Oh, biome gear still requires specific quests to be done in order to craft! Well...my bad, didnt knew because always disabled progression and storms

Hmm, I'm not sure you're expecting the same thing from "disable progression" as TFP is.

"Biome progression" covers both the blocking system And the solutions to the blocks. Biome hazards* are as much part of the "progression" as the Gear that will disable the timer, and the way you craft and unlock that gear (the challenge and the recipe) are. The setting mostly makes sure you can be in the biomes without the unlocking gear; whether it hides UI elements about them is just beautification.

So, "disabling biome progression" essentially means "turning OFF the biome hazards", nothing more. Every biome is accessible from day one. If you turn it off, the main effect should be that you can now access everything; and if you turn it back on, the hazards should be back.

There's no setting to "Stop the ability to progress through the biomes".
