5 Land Claim Blocks Needed, Gyrocopter Mapping

Hello All,

I have really enjoyed this game for years and am loving the new features.

However, i do feel like only allowing 3 land claim blocks for a game strongly encouraging progression through 5 different biomes is something that was not thought through very well. 5 land claim blocks would not OP me as a player and would make me actually try to build a decent base in the 2 biomes that i had to abandon once done with the progression.

My other request is that i feel that when you use the gyrocopter it should reveal much of the map as you explore while flying. The gyrocopter is a very late game piece of tech, so i feel like this would not be an issue with making the player OP where at late game i would like to just be able to map out the areas especially if I've already explored them.

If anyone has a good reason for why these things should not be considered i would love to hear them.

They just should add option like with jars (with the amount of claim blocks from 1 to 5)

If you're on PC or have a PC host or server, the number of land claims is a setting in the serverconfig.xml file in the game folder. Beyond that, you can have 3 by default per player, which can mean a lot of land claims for multiplayer. Also, if you are moving your base to every biome (I don't see why anyone would do that, but it's fine if you want to), you don't need to keep a land claim at your old bases. Just remove it or let the game disable it automatically when you make more than 3 land claims. The only real reason it's needed is for moving stuff around. If you don't need to move stuff, there's no reason to have it still active in an old base that you're not using anymore. Also, you can easily just keep replacing them to rotate through your bases if you need to. They are cheap, so it's not even an issue with cost to do so.

For reference, they plan on an update that will include a lot of additional game options. The number of land claims may be one of those options at that point.

I move bases with each trader tier completion. 10 quests per biome then move to the next. Even doing it the way i do there is no need for so many land claim blocks. You really only need enough space for a forge, workbench, campfire and 3-4 storage chests until you reach the wasteland for your good looking perma base.

I would love if the gyro revealed more of the map though, perhaps going high enough grants a full map reveal? Guarantee pvp players would hate it.

However, i do feel like only allowing 3 land claim blocks
I edited my hexadecimal number so I can have 25 land claims, because, like you, I felt 3 (or even 5) was not enough. I play mostly solo, or with just 2-3 friends.

Edit, see this thread for the files.

Yeah, more land claims would be ideal. Though, I mainly use the other 2 for mines and need more to own more than 2 mines when you got nitrate, coal, Iron, lead and shale. And who knows, they may add other metals to mine in the future, like aluminum, copper, zinc, nickel, lithium, cobalt, manganese and tin. Would need more land claim blocks for those mines too.

I provide a link in a minute.

Ok, this is the thread I got the help that allowed me to change my files. I can have 25 concurrent LCB at a time.
Read the thread, and follow the instruction. If you have any questions, just shoot me a message.

Ok, so you have to do the following:

type in regedit in your computers search. Should look like this:
Regestry location.jpg

You'll end up with 7 day to die highlighted on the left hand side, my eyes are just about shot, but then click on and scroll down the right hand side, to the landclaimcount, click on that. Should look like this:
landclaimcount.jpg

Then just type in your preferred number. I had to click on the decimal button, and just typed in '25'.

Also, there is another setting, landclaimsize, and it seems to work the exact same way. I have no idea if you'll break your game if you increase this beyond 71. Try at you own risk.

This will get you there.

This would solve that problem, good luck.

I'm on console only, so that wouldn't work for me, thank you for the info though 👍.

Why are you using them at a mine?

Would be nice to see more resources/ores/metals in future and sulfur to make gunpowder

Cause then the mine stays the way I left it last, instead of resetting back to what it was before I started digging into it. When you leave it alone after a while, all the work you did in the mine is gone, it's as if the work you did to the mine never happened, the land claim blocks stops that from happening.

Doesn't 'Chunck' reset set to 0 also do that? I have never played with it being on, so I don't know.

As others said, if you don't have chunk reset enabled, mines will never fill in. If you're playing on a public server that has it reset, then I can understand that, though if it resets, you just get more ore.

True, I could have my chunk set to very long to solve that, but it takes an enormous amount of save data to do that, and would make it impossible to play on other people's/friend's servers. Even if I were to archive my server, it'd still take up a lot of data.

There's no option to turn off chunk on console, can only have it set to short-very long, or at least none that i've seen. Edit: nevermind, I finally found it, it's disabled now..

Yeah, it does impact save size and on console that can make it harder to play more than one game at a time. That's definitely an issue. I can see why you would use a land claim at a mine on consoles rather than disabling chunk resets or setting them to a really long duration. About the only option I can think of for console players who care about a mine disappearing if they haven't been to it for a while would be to consider using a dedicated server or use a PC to host it and just play the game using the console. Then the main save files would be located there instead of on the console. Clients still have saves, but they aren't as large as the host/server save. That would save space and is probably the best choice for console players who want to play more than one or two games at a time.
