Wandering hordes

We should be able to set how frequently and how many zombies can appear in a wandering horde, me and my buddy just started a new game were we turned off blood moon and set everything to nightmare speed and we thought that would be pretty fun to just see “the walking dead” level of wandering hordes

The way the forum is now I can't tell if someone is on PC or Console but I know there use to be mods to do this.
Not sure if they have been updated for this version but I know I have used them in the recent past.
Hopefully...

1. If you are on PC and you don't have an aversion to mods and
2. The mods have been updated to latest version.

...then you can have what you are asking for.

Yeah thats fair enough, me and my buddy play on console

That's all good.
I wasn't trying to disparage consoles, I know sometimes mods have been advised for a lot of things and know that they don't work on consoles.
Am actually curious to sometime join a server with both consoles and pcs playing.

I want Wandering Bandits and Zombie hordes that can interact and fight with each other. If the Zombies win the fight they convert the bandits to instant zombies.

Also would be cool if areas that have been visited in a while would be overrun by bandits.

Bandits and zombies will fight, though there's an order to who takes priority if it's a choice between attacking a player, an animal, a zombie, or a bandit. Faatal gave the order in another thread a month or two ago if you want to try to find it. But I don't think you'll see any bandits being turned into zombies.

As far as locations for bandits, they'll most likely be similar to zombies. POI will be set up to either have bandits or zombies for spawns. I believe faatal had said they won't mix zombies and bandits in vanilla POI, though that may change if a POI makes sense for that. And custom POI can of course spawn them however they want. There will probably also be wandering bandit "hordes". But if zombies don't spawn in some specific way, you can probably bet that bandits won't either. So unless they do something different with zombies for overrunning an area beyond just resetting the sleeper volumes in POIs or doing normal random spawns around the map, then bandits aren't likely to do something other than that either. Bandits are just going to be another enemy like any that we already have. They just have a few more abilities, such as seeking cover or using weapons.

Speaking of bandits, do you suppose they'll be added on update 2.6?

Would love it if we could set how frequently screamers come around, or turn em off. They're annoying, they come around out of the blue while i'm trying to improve my base. The "heat" nonsense needs to stop, can't sense heat when it's 3°F or lower in the snow biome. Hell, a zombie or man would be frozen stiff at 3°F, especially when they hardly have any clothes on, like the screamers.

Ignore the word heat. A heat map isn't specifically related to actual heat, both in this game and when used as a general mapping term. A heat map is a map that shows how dense/congested/etc. some statistic is in an area. For example, a heat map of population could show a change in color based on density. In the game, the heat map relates to activity and not to heat. So doing actions like forging something or using a cement mixer or firing a gun will increase this activity level. Now, that activity can include things like sound or actual heat as well. Anything that would indicate to something that there is a person nearby.

Now, that just explains why it affects things regardless of temperature. But it doesn't solve your actual problem of not liking screamers. I think there is the possibility they'll include an option for screamers when they add the 50-100 new game options they are talking about. And I think that's a good option to include. I don't care about screamers as they are easy to deal with. Sure, they can be annoying at times, but it takes almost no time to deal with them and then I don't have to worry about them for a long time, so it isn't a big deal to me. But I know a lot of people hate them, so having the option to change their spawn rates and even disable them entirely would be a good option to include.

My base is in the middle of nowhere and have stuff like the forge in the underground basement, where they shouldn't be able to sense it. Dealing with screamers aren't easy to deal with, at least at my current state where i'm still using a tier 3 pipe rifle and a tier 1 pistol I luckily found in the toilet that doesn't do much damage and not ample enough ammo. When you have 2 screamers that call 10-15 zombies, things become unmanageable quickly.

You can deal with screamers with a T1 Q1 weapon once you see how it works. In most cases without even having them scream. There are a variety of ways to deal with them. In the early game, the easiest passive method is to just drop a few wooden spike traps outside near the corners of your base where they'll hit them when going around a corner and a couple near whatever entrance they might be trying to reach. A single wooden spike trap will kill a regular screamer easily and unless you're in the open when they arrive, they won't scream at all. All you need to work on is placement. For actively killing them, they normally die from a single power attack to the head with any melee weapon, including a T1 Q1 weapon. If you sprint to them and immediately power attack them, you can usually kill them before the scream. Even with two, it can usually be done quickly enough. And worst case, all early enemies are also easy to kill. If you don't let them group up and instead rush out to each one, you can kill them one at a time, which isn't too hard. Make use of knockdowns and be sure you kill the screamers first. Later in the game, when you get the higher tier screamers, it can take a couple of hits to kill them, depending on your weapon. But even then, the same method of sprinting to them and doing a power attack to their head is still very effective. They won't scream if they are knocked down.

I definitely wouldn't recommend using a gun in the early game unless you don't care about running out of ammo or you have a scope and can one-shot them in the head from a distance where they can't see you. A melee weapon is enough.
