About combine system

The old combine system is the only old system which shouldnt be brough back to the game unlike other old mechanics!
1) (objective) This mechanic with current small tier system will just ruin the progression and exploring (especially higher tier POIs)! Just clear lots of low tiers POIs - find tier 1 weapons and get 6 asap!
2) (subjective) The mechanic itself doesnt explains itself for the player! Unlike modular weapon system, smell system and other features which could be logicly explained - it doesnt have any logic/sence!
3) (subjective) Instead of bringing old combine back - dev should bring back other old interesting features like: modular weapon/vehicle system, hoe farming mechanic and other interesting stuff from old alphas - considering how "fast" development process is going!
I suggest to compleatly rework and rethink the combine system and not speedrunning it!

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "combine system".

The only thing that springs to mind that people have asked for is the old parts system back. Now that can encompass many different aspects such as just parts quality, or perhaps with schematics as well or with the ability to combine weapons to make better ones. The old system had many facets to it. To which are you referring?

I think they are talking about taking multiple of a weapon to combine it into a higher quality level. So combine two Q1 Pistols to get a Q2 Pistol.

That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, though. It would depend on how it was implemented. If you needed two Q1s to make a Q2 and two Q2s to make a Q3 and so on, it could take quite a lot of grinding to find enough. That would be very different from "find tier 1 weapons and get 6 asap", which I assume means having six Q1s to make a Q6, which I doubt would happen. Also, other than the lower tier weapons, it can be difficult to find a lot of any specific weapon. How many steel weapons to you tend to find? How many sniper rifles? Etc. You'll eventually start finding them, but would you find enough to combine them up to a Q6 until you found a couple Q5s? You'll find those eventually, but it won't be right away. This way of combining weapons could speed things up a little, yes. But I don't think it would be enough to really matter. Of course, I also don't think it's really necessary as it doesn't really add anything to the game, imo. It would just be a way to use all those extra weapons you find instead of scrapping or selling them. Not necessarily bad, but not really worth spending time adding, imo.

As far as logic goes, it could be as simple as you have a low quality (Q1 is low quality) weapon and you find a couple of them and you take the best parts from each to combine them together into one that is a little bit better because one of the weapons had a decent X but bad Y part and the other had a decent Y part but a bad X part. You aren't making a new kind of weapon. You're just improving what you have because you have extra parts from a second weapon.

Currently we can pseudo combine weapons. You scrap a weapon for it's parts and then use the parts to craft your new weapon. Combining just streamlines that process using the workbench. I'm neither for or against it. I don't think it will ruin the game any more than finding duplicate weapons and scrapping them for parts to craft a better version using those parts ruins today's game.

I would be much more excited if they were somehow going to bring back the tiered weapon parts that each contribute to the finished weapon's tier. If it isn't going to happen for this game I would hope they would consider it for a future game. I really enjoyed that feature and would love to see it again someday.

I enjoyed the tiered parts as well, but I did not like both combining weapons and the tiered parts as it made upgrading too easy.

I always assumed the combine would be used to max out a weapon's stats within its own tier, never crossed my mind you could jump up a tier. But after what roland said, I guess it makes sort of sense.

Modular weapon system was great, yea! Hope it come back

I agree, I really enjoyed this concept, though I think it still needed some tweaks back then (But what didn't?)

I agree. I was a big fan of these systems.. the hoeing one not as much and it's my understanding it had to go to make room for more blocks.. a textures thing or somethin'.

Remembering what I saw MadMole saying a few weeks ago, this is my understanding of what we're going to see and it was not advertised as the old combining system. I'm not saying that it couldn't have become that by now. .. But I specifically remember Madmole using the exampling of you have 2 level 6 weapons, but one has more damage and one has more fire rate- you combine them and have the best of both worlds.
.. So as long as that is still the vision, the item combiner is getting the best base stats of one item and the best base stats of another matching item.

I'm not sure I'd consider that very similar. You get a single part from scrapping a weapon other than pipe weapons that give some iron instead. Nowhere near what you need to build a new one.
