Clothing Rack hit/loot box

Version
2.4
Platform
Windows
The clothing rack hit box for the free standing racks (not the bares ones, but the ones with clothes hanging from them) are really hard to find the loot spot. Not all of them appear to even have a hit/loot box. The ones I found tend to be on the end and consist of one the vertical supporting metal tubes. The clothes themselves don't respond. But other rectangular racks don't appear to be lootable at all, even though they have clothes hanging from them and sound like and loot to cloth when hit with axe. Some of the round racks also have this problem. It would be nice and more immersive if the clothes hanging from the racks were more readily lootable. Not a game breaking bug, more just a player whine. But if you want to improve the player experience, here's one thing that could be improved.

In retrospect, I believe the hit box is different from the loot box. Because I was able to hit the clothing rack with an axe from above and heard a cloth damage sound in response. Yet it was not lootable from that point. The bare racks aren't lootable, which makes sense. But the ones with clothes hanging from them should be lootable and yield either clothes or at least cloth. IMHO.

Some with only a few things on them aren't lootable, but yes, finding the spot to click to loot can be a bit of a challenge. It's usually in the middle of the top of the rack, though.

and yet if the "unlootable" rack is wrenched, you get cloth. If the racks have clothes on them how can one choose to loot/wrench cloth versus metal of the rack? empty racks wrench to metal, yet some racks with clothes on them and aren't lootable wrench to cloth. If I wanted the cloth, I should target the clothes. If I wanted the metal, I should target the metal rack. If every block in 7 days has a hit-box and only a single fixed loot/wrenched result. At least be consistent and make all racks with clothes lootable to either clothes or cloth depending on quantity of hanging clothes. Destroying to cloth or destroying to metal is just weird. First take the clothes or cloth off the rack via looting and then destroy the rack. easy peasy and makes more sense. Immersion is the goal, right? Someone took a shortcut and it's just strange.

I can't answer that. It's just how it's been for as long as I've been playing. *Maybe* there is a tiny hit box for looting that I'm just missing, but certain racks never loot for me and I just ignore them automatically as "being picked clean of anything useful even if there are a few scraps remaining". It is certainly something they could look into improving, but I'm not sure that it's an actual bug.

ok, so someone took a shortcut a long time ago. It's still inconsistent to sometimes get metal from destroying a clothes rack and sometimes getting cloth. There's a clear path to getting cloth from clothes racks (that have only a few clothes on them) and that's to mimic the looting process of clothes racks with lots of clothes on them, just return cloth instead of clothes. Then the resulting empty rack can be destroyed to get metal.

Considering you normally only get cloth from any clothes racks when looting them, that wouldn't really be a change. Maybe they prevent you from getting the occasional armor part or legendary part or actual armor that can rarely appear, but other than the armor parts, those are rare enough that it wouldn't really be noticeable. Thread might also appear in those, but I don't remember for sure.

Anyhow, I'm not suggesting a change would not be appropriate. Just giving details.

Hi slicksister.

A fix was already implemented for this one and may be included in the next patch. I can't promise since I don't directly make those builds, but it looks like it was set for the next upcoming patch.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us about this one.

Regards,
Dollie
