Please return the old level by playing system

Their next game isn’t going to be 7 Days to Die 2 but if they stick with what they’re good at and wanting to use the systems they’ve built, their next game could still be one that involves some kind of character progression.

I doubt they’re going to switch gears and do something totally different like Notch did in his follow up to Minecraft. 🤮
Of course. But the question was specifically about a sequel. A different game, even when having similar types of things, will still be a different game. I would be surprised if it's a zombie themed game, for example. So it may not necessarily be a game that most people who enjoy this game will like, though it's certainly possible that most would like it.

I was answering from the perspective of the LBD mechanic. Yeah, it may be a long time until the next post apocalyptic zombie themed game but you joked that it might be 20 years before the sequel comes and I was just specifying that it might not be 20 years before LBD has a chance at being part of a TFP game. True, that if most players are only here for the zombie themed game they may not follow on to the next game but….

….wait till you see what it is!!! I can’t wait for it to be announced. I’m glad they’re listening to feedback but I’m ready for them to finish this and get on to the next. I’m very excited for the concept at least. Now I must stop before I get in trouble.

I think the LBD implementation by The Fun Pimps was just bad. It could have been improved a lot to basically avoid spam crafting. See this mod by youtuber izprebuilt: https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/8642

The learn by reading books will always be less immersive. I'm surviving a zombie apocalypse and my most important goal is to find a truckload of books... what?????

It doesn't help that instead of adding deeper survival mechanics, even the basic ones get streamlied and taken out.

What I was responding to was just a side conversation about a sequel and not about LBD at all. ;)

But yeah... I want them to move on to the next game. This game needs to just be finished.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense that written knowledge passed down generations is so important!
That's why regimes burn books when they get in power... ;)

The main difference between IzPrebuilt and FunPimps is that IzPrebuilt doesn't care when people exploit LDB in his mod, and he does it himself, too.

In reality, it's probably a combination of learning by reading and learning be doing. You can learn from another person or from a source of information, such as a book. Then, you improve through practice.

I would honestly rather have the pure point system back instead of magazines. Super gamey and no immersion at all, but better than the cloth and magazine hunting that it is right now.

@RipClaw And that combination would be what Darkness Falls has. LBD for action skills, with perks and recipes for crafting and things like living of the land, along with books that boost LBD skills and you can learn some skills from the traders depending on what they specialze on. From all overhauls mods and all vanilla systems we had, this is for me the most immersive experience. You basically never need to worry about finding bookstores, things just happen naturally. Also no abuse possible. You can go scouting for bookshops like crazy, but i wouldn´t call that abuse as it doesn´t really help you with action skills as the books for thost are random and not super common.

Yeah, tell me you didn´t read this topic properly without telling me you didn´t read this topic properly. @madmole
The topic is an old beaten horse. The fact is the vast majority of players NEVER experienced it and like the current system just fine and many players have expressed how tired they are of us changing stuff "that worked fine" so we're definitely not touching this one again.

Recent and alltime reviews are "Very Positive". LBD has been gone for years. You are wishful thinking. Must be frustrating.

So you missed the recent reviews going down to like 50% i see. That made them overhaul the biome progression. I didn´t write a review at all, i am waiting for the final version.

There is a ton of people being unhappy wth the magazines and i am 100% sure that a well made LBD system will cause less whining than there is now about the magazines. i mean there is right now 2 active threads rooting for LBD here and they always pop up on steam. That would be one changing back that most people would be happy about.

I've accepted that we're not going back to LBD, but I feel like it could've been fixed instead of completely removed.

I just think a hybrid would be good

Lbd for small little buffs like guns and running but nothing with crafting or anything forcefully repeitive like break your leg 60 times. Only things that are in game natural repetitive like fighting, running, healing, crafting speed, harvesting etc

Lbl: for a quicker version and again other buffs and if you wanna unlock a tier faster or use it for skill buffs

And LBR is for unlocking tiers and items.

He isn’t a typical random user weighing in with his opinion on how cool a hybrid LBD skillpoint magazine system could be. He is the executive of the company spelling out their final decision on the matter on their official forum. Seems pretty telling that after years of silence he returned to post this answer.

Seems like it’s time to let it go and move on. Make your peace and stay and play what’s offered or die on the hill and part ways.

Or mod.

And i commented exactly like that, because of who he is.

We have heard exactly that about glass jars. And i am by far not the only one unhappy about magazines that want LBD back (I persoanlly would already be happy with the magazines gone and the pure point system for example). This topic keeps popping up constantly, here, on steam, on reddit and FB.

We are not playing anymore already. But that doesn´t mean we have given up on the game.
