The new update is still weird and doesn't really address anything.

It almost feels like the "Town Hall" was just a waste of time for TFP and for us. This last update is fairly silly imho.

Simply replacing the badges with icons is one thing, but it's WEIRDLY implemented. Why would you wear all four of them at once? Why wouldn't you just be able to equip one at a time and have it be graphically represented on your character.

Everything is really feeling slapped together lately.

We've drifted FAR away from TFP giving a flying fig about any kind of immersion. It's almost like there are devs behind the scenes simply coming up with stuff to throw at the game to justify them having a job. It's a lot like congress just passing bills to justify their jobs. There's no real point, but it keeps them busy.

Just give us a barebones sandbox mode. You said you were working on it but we haven't heard squat since the "Town Hall". I think it's already been forgotten.

Why would you wear all four of them at once?
Because.. you're not really _wearing_ them, you just "have access to them as needed", I suppose. And in a way I agree, making them so that you'd have to carry them in actual inventory and swap them at biome borders could get annoying. Could; and maybe should, but I wouldn't enjoy driving back to base to grab the piece I forgot... Nothing else still makes sense though.

"Why can't we have them being shown?" Because TFP chose to solve the issue of "clipping clothing" by reducing the armor sets into these outfits; can't have them interacting with one another, or they might look a little silly at times. Umm, but now the armors _play_ silly? "Oh well..."

And as the badges were supposed to be player-unique, they made it purely a UI-element, and "found a great use for the newfangled challenge window". Going from there to an actual piece of gear, with visible graphics would be a whole rework of the costume system. It's a whole lot easier with a couple icons.

They want an on-rails experience, with you beelining to the trader on D1, following the yellow markers from point to point, following the Path through the Dungeon and getting hit by the "ambushes" that spawn behind you after a point.. they're designing an open-world game where you can, almost to a block, predict what route a player will take through it. Or at least "should".

Anything that would make you look at the world is too much to ask for from the current generation of game devs; it might be inconvenient for someone to have to stop and think! So, consume product, get exited for next product!

Cliche. Predictable. Wrong.

Ugh. And speaking of all the new armor sets, what was the mindset of finding "assassin boots" or "priest gloves" when looting clothing in an apocalypse? It boggles my mind how it logical it was to find t-shirts, hoodies, hats, shorts, pants, etc scattered throughout the world yet they keep changing things to see how far they can get away from sensible choices.

My guess? Because it's fun. I like the new armor sets. I like that they have bonuses when wearing the full armor set. I like that each armor piece (or most, anyway) have unique boosts to various skills, etc.

Maybe? You've chosen to hide your previous comments so we can't see that you always complain (if you do).

New skin, same mechanic. The mechanic was the problem. It´s still a boring to do list. Either make this somehow interesting, like a quest or a boss fight, or do it survival style that you need to adjust to temperature and weather conditions in the biomes and adjust enemies, so that you have stronger enemies in each biome.

This fixes nothing. Makes a bit more sense but is still boring af.

Please no. That last thing we need is another mechanic where I have to switch out equipment just because I wander into a different biome. This simplifies it so the equipment doesn't needlessly take up 3 inventory slots.

low-key it has kind of always been that way though? it is part of the "flavour" of the game at this point and it seems weird that people keep pretending that the jank is somehow new

for sure though me and my friend played a bit this morning and personally i liked how the storms were enough to turn them back on in my games. *shrugs* take from that what you will

why do you want all of the characters looking the same in the environment you are going to? do you realize how badly that would clip with all of the current helmets. It was stupif for TFPs to waste time changing them at all, but i do like the tags they created for them.

That implies you're honestly expecting them to address the "weirdness" in the OP? Making survival gear visible on the character, making it "swappable", and starting to focus on immersion instead of .. whatever this is.
They said initially that they would not make it visible, so that was known during the town hall. Is it odd? Maybe. But is it really any better to have everyone look the same in a biome because they have to wear the same protective items? The way it is now, we can wear whatever we like without worrying about what biome we are in. Yes, there is the option to use the wardrobe to keep your look even if they made the protective equipment visible, but I don't see making it visible as being worth it.

As far as swapping goes, I definitely wouldn't want to have to swap protective gear or clothing all the time.

it was almost a month ago...Joel to my knowledge has not followed up on the Reddit post with that poll (or whatever it was he planned to do instead)
broken record time: maybe they should hire someone to do communication for them? a community manager?
Who gives a ■■■■? Can we not let things bake a while before they're made so concrete there's no changing them? Can we not exhibit a little bit of patience?

Oh, right. Patience is a virtue most don't possess. Thanks for the reminder.

First of all the new gear icons are not simply a swap out for badges. The fact that you craft them yourself rather than getting them as a reward from the trader is a huge change. Maybe if it was still a reward handed out by the trader it would essentially be the same but cutting out trader involvement completely really gives it a different vibe.

Secondly, the town hall was specifically to address 2.0 issues. That’s all that should be expected in any 2.x update. I wouldn’t expect any adjustments to past pre 2.0 gripes until 3.x at the least and splitting off a separate story mode and sandbox mode wouldn’t even be feasible until after the current roadmap is completed. It would be really dumb of them to develop both modes in tandem. Better to finish the game and then create separate modes based off the complete version.

"Too soon for feedback, it isn't even out yet; let them cook."
"Come on man, feedback is pointless - it just came out, let's see how they modify it."
"What? Why are you trying to change it now, it's been like this forever. Too late to fix it now."

Take a pick and any feedback is always pointless.

I wouldn't expect less of a determinist such as you. ;)
